Hi everyone! I wasn't going to post anything because everyone before me has said it all. Then I turned on the music player for the first time (favorites are Innocent, Always Be My Baby.1st Time Ever....,The World I Know, plus The Truth and Don't Say a Word) and was inspired to share.

I am early 40's, teenage son and daughter. As I'm listening to him, I can see in my mind every one of his facial expressions from that performance. How obsessive is that? For me, my husband and I pretty much live in the same house, but are really just together till the kids go off to college; separate rooms (past 5 years) and all that. So I have no guilt about my feelings about this man. Actually, I think the reason he means so much to me is that I realize, through him, that I can actually feel again. He affects EVERYTHING I do now, because my mood is constantly great for having him to think and smile about (and, hell yes, FANTASIZE ABOUT)!

I love the idea about the Cougar get-together. I have never had a big circle of friends (my mom passed away when I was 13, and my dad didn't let me do too much socializing since I had a 2-year old brother to help with). As an adult, I also only have a couple of close friends, none of whom I would dare mention this obsession to. They don't even watch Idol. So to have all of you guys to communicate with is truly a gift, makes me feel less alone in this crazytown we are in, all because of one Mr. David Cook~at least we have high blood pressure in common!

Thanks again! smile.gif

PS-finally tried to get my word nerd number, but I am new to the AI boards and when I tried to register, it said you must be over 13 to register, even though I was born in the 60's. I tried multiple times. Since I can't even get a post in to the technical support over there, can anyone suggest anything? Anyone else have a similar problem? I WANT TO BE A WORD NERD TOO!! sad.gif

PPS- I now notice that Time of my Life is the only ITunes left. Last time I looked the finale 3 were also available. Does this mean they are gone for good?? Please, say not so. I got complacent and didn't do it sooner because only my son's computer can burn a CD and he is always on. I knew many of the season's performances were going away on a certain date because Ryan said it, but I thought I had more time. I got my favorite 5 in time, but if I don't get the World I know I will cry buckets. I can't even get it to work as a ringtone.

Yeah, I think a cougar get-together is a great idea too. Being a shy sort I'm probably not the right person to organize it, but I'd be in.

I posted the your paragraph about word nerd # over in the word nerd # thread. I know Travis has been trying to work that issue but he's got alot on his plate.

I know what you mean about everyone has said it already, there have been some awesome posts in the cougar threads, really eloquent.

I don't understand the music business well enough to know why they keep pulling music. There's a ton of money that could be made right now selling more of David's stuff from AI and AH. Maybe it's a matter of who has the rights to it. He's with RCA now and if they can't make the money the stuff won't be showing up, I'm sure.

I was in the same boat -- I was tool late to download some stuff from iTunes...

If you search enough you can still find some other places to download.

I'm a total Cougar for Cook- being a decade older than Mr. Cook has not stopped me from being a hormone inraged teenager again. I think he is the total package. Love everything he does. (by the way, just converted my husband into a cook lover too... the ZZ top performance hooked him.)

We have the Word Nerds and the Cookies - Why not Cooks Cougars?
Suziq14
Well, I'm pleased to be in such good company......I won't say how old I am, but I definetly fit into the "Cougars for Cook" category. This is my very first post.

I told my sister early on in the competition "Hey, I really like this guy". She was unconvinced. Her daughter, however, was totally with me. And each week as he continued to wow us over and over and over, she finally had to admit we knew what we were talking about.

What I like is his maturity (oh hell, I like everything about him...). Listening to him talk I will say it's so refreshing to hear someone who can actually speak eloquently and intelligently. (I have a teenage son who listens to alot of rap - BIG difference in the artists!) I think David will represent us well.

Now how many "cougars" are going to the AI concert in their area? I need some courage - - I gave in to just getting a single ticket (pairs were not to be had for under more $$ than I'm allowed to spend!) for the Providence show. I'm hoping to find other cougars to be at home with and not surrounded by a sea of younger fan girls. Gotta work out a great outfit, too. wink.gif I wondered if anyone had heard of an official Cook Fan Color Scheme - - I was thinking B&W in honor of his self-acknowledged tendency to wear only black & white due to over-active glands. Ah, we love your honesty, David. As if we could love you any more!!!

*raises hand*

Cookie Cougar here......my high school mascot was a Cougar so I'm a Cougar from way back.

I have never been into younger man until DC. The man reached through the TV and grabbed ahold of my soul and hasn't let go (nor do i want him to).

At first I must admit it was pure lust that drew me to him.....but as the weeks went on and I got to see more of the man he is..... I can honestly say I love him....not to be confused with being IN love. To be in love you actually have to know him on a more intimate level.

Too bad for me I live on the East Coast and never had the opportunity to see or hear him before American Idol.
When I hear him ask interviews "Where you all before American Idol?" My answer is "I've been rifght here the whole time unfortunately, neither one of us knew the other existed!" (damn fate)

YES!!!! this Cookie Cougar will be going to the concert, buying his music, attending his solo concert!!!

I actually just bought my tickets off of Ebay. I have to travel 3 hours each way to the show. Allstate arena here in the Chicago area is closer but it don't work out with my schedule. So Indianapolis here I come! I would even go further than that to see David Cook if I had too!! I LOVE HIM!!! I can't wait!! If anyone finds out if there are official shirts out there please pm me with the info! Thanks!!

Sadly for me, the nearest AI concert is about 550 miles away, so I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. Looking forward to hearing about all the concerts on here.

Hi Lee, I was at Watkins Glen and I still have the t-shirt! I did not make it to Woodstock because my mother sent me to Outward Bound instead and I had a geart time. I'm 55 and when I saw DC on AI, I knew right away he was special. It great to see this kind of talent. DC is a kind, funny, relaxed old soul with amazing talent.

I think I still have my T-shirt, as well, or what's left of it - I pretty much wore it out before packing it away in a memory box. Wish I could remember where I put that box. I agree DC seems to be an old soul with phenomenal talent - can't wait to see where this journey takes him - DCmania has just begun.

Hi grandmajoyce. Can I ask where in NJ are you from? My daughter and I are going on 7/31.
Buffee
I positively fit into this group---for me the younger man thing is not a big deal. I have dated younger man all my life....the last one 17 years younger..its only a number. I was very impressed when I saw DC audition.....being an ex-musician myself, I very much appreciated the quality of his voice. I had NO idea of what true talent he had. My mom(shes 74) and I watch the show together, and she also noticed him right away. This is very strange because she and I have NEVER agreed on the talent...I'm the rocker, shes more into the 70's soul stuff....but somehow he converted her.
After two or three of his performances, I was overwelmed...finding it truly hard to believe that this "guy" had gone unnoticed all these years. From his guitar playing, to his style........he was generally what I termed to be truly a "grounded" indiviual. I really love his tone and clairty in his voice.....and when I heard "ANALOG HEART" I was floored..because that CD is much better than most of the crap I am subjected to on FM daily. Hes different..and I think that is what sets him apart from any other idol winners. This will be the FIRST time I have ever bought any music of the American Idol winners...because they all seemed to be generic....don't get me wrong..all of them have great voices...but I am always wanting to hear someone who truly MOVES me. Well DC did it. I would love to see him in concert, but I will wait for a over 21 venue....because having to deal with 100,000 screaming 10 years old.....would make me insane. If I see him, I want to relish in the moment and enjoy the experience. I am glad I found this site...and that as an older woman.....is not going to be MOCKED by my piers for being a silly "school girl" crushing on a cookie! tongue.gif

Hello everyone! Another Cougar from California - Ventura County - and three generations of my family will be going to the concert in LA! I'll probably embarrass the younger ones! LOL I wish I had jumped in and bought tickets when they first went on sale but what the hey! I'll be there!!

He really is a sweetie. I can't believe I've gone so ga-ga over such a youngin! I wish him all the happiness and success in the world and will do my little part to support him. I'm new here and I want to thank you thank you thank you for making it such a positive place! I had to leave another group because it got so darn negative! It was just a vocal few but they ruined it for me. I was reading their posts last night while hubby was tinkering in the garage, and I got so upset I started to cry! Crazy, I know. I'm way too old for such antics but it was all so depressing. I kept hoping my husband wouldn't walk in because how on earth was I going to explain the tears! wink.gif I went to bed but couldn't sleep. Then I came to this forum and what a breath of fresh air! Couldn't wait to do some reading and posting here today.

MJ was the one who caught my eye at the beginning - reminded me a little of an Aussie Jim Morrison (well, not quite a lizard king type though) - but he just failed to Light My Fire! I'm so corny! rolleyes.gif (Did see Morrison in concert way back when! Guess I was a hippie type.) But I digress...I couldn't believe it when Simon knocked David for being a word nerd - like that was a negative! That's probably when I started thinking Michael who? Then DC sang Hello and he had me. What a talent! I could watch him singing Billie Jean forever and his Music of the Night is mesmerizing. He can do it all! So much for not having charisma and being vulnerable without his guitar! Take that, Simon!

Busy day ahead but I'll drop in when I can! Oh! I love the signature banners I'm seeing. One of these days I'll have to put one together....if I can figure out how.

Hi Sandi, and welcome! Former hippie type here too. David seems to be attracting us in droves. ;-)

I too couldn't believe Simon thought drag racing was more interesting than being a word nerd. I'm sure it is to some people and more power to them, but to just make the blanket assumption that everyone out there is a dragster...get a clue, Simon! I loved it when Paula said, "women like smart men." Amen! Smart is sexy. The more I realized how intelligent he is, the sexier he got.

I was so lucky to happen upon this forum right away, it's an awesome place, the moderators do an amazing job here. Threads like "David Cook Phenomenon Metaphysical?" I love it.

Your best bet is to take the train -- NJ Transit Northeast Corrider from New Brunswick to Newark. The Prudential Center is literally 2 blocks from the train.

You could drive -- turnpike or GSP
Ticketmaster's venue site has some good directions. But I would take the train.

Grandmajoyce,

What section are you in? I got them late so I'm in 132. I am from South Brunswick-really close by! We know a lot about your High School because of Marching Band and stuff. Our beloved Mrs. Kraft writes your drill for the shows, I believe. The more I think about it, I think we will try the train. I only don't want to park in a deck in New Brunswick. I don't think I can get my husband to pick me up when it's over. My kids think I've gone off the deep end, although my daughter (15) is coming with me. Hey, I supported her through 4 N'Sync concerts in 18 months! Bye...

Ok...well here it is then. First post here I think...
This is really strange for me...my hubby is 9 years older so older men were my thing...where the heck did this come from?????
I agree with some of the others here...I have never been this obsessed with anyone before...not even in my teenage years! I can't go a day with out listening to him, oogling pictures, posting on some board - Good God will it ever end - he is driving me mad!
David Cook totally reeled me in with "All Right Now" and I just want to say once he has you he does not let go!
You definitely become "cookified"

OK..thank you I feel better now. Carry on!

David Cook totally reeled me in with "All Right Now" and I just want to say once he has you he does not let go!

Well, I NEVER thought I'd be posting on a fan site for anyone, ever. I'm a Cougar for Cook, age 54, and here I am. I'm with you Connemara -- can't get enough, don't understand why. I LOVE that so many other people on this site seem to care about what happens to DC personally -- is this normal for a fan club? It seems like he's brought out a lot of "niceness" in a lot of people -- remarkable. I can't believe how smoothly and generously he's handling interviews and the attention so far. Like everyone else, I just don't want it to ruin his life. I love that the mere promise of an album is selling like hotcakes on Amazon.

I have a question for anyone -- I was re-watching video from Top 20 I think -- anyway, it's the one where Randy and Paula liked DC's performance and Simon said he didn't have charisma (ha!). DC answered back and got a bit mouthy with Simon, especially compared to the way he handled such critique the rest of the season. Anyone got any idea what happened to make DC change his attitude? It almost seems to me like someone took him aside and said, hey, don't blow this -- listen and learn, which is pretty much what DC's been saying about Simon's feedback ever since. Anyone else notice the change (complete evaporation of the chip on his shoulder)?
Thanks and since I may never post again, (I really DON'T do stuff like this!) thanks to those of you who are knowledgable about the record /radio charts -- very interesting to me.

I'm like you, I have no idea what's normal for a fan club since I never joined one before, but I like the fact that most of the people here love David and somehow manage to obsess about him without being overly snoopy or stalk-y. I guess he just brings that out in people, it's pretty cool.

From what I've learned about David, he has a pretty impressive feedback loop (can you tell I'm an enginerd, grin). I think he learned from that little exchange and self-corrected, although that's just my speculation.

Hi NEMOCougar - hope you'll stick around. There's some wonderful "cougar" insights - just search on the term and you'll find the other threads. I do think David just brings this out - what a priceless gift. I've never "fan-clubbed" before either, but am constantly impressed by the number of very grounded, insightful, and friendly folks there are here. It's a great community to be part of - hope we can all continue the conversations as we journey forward with David.

Another proud wildcat for Cook. In Kentucky it just has to be said that way.

Through the years my crushes have been:
David Cassidy (date me much???)
Roger Daltry
Bruce Springsteen (still is, decades long...I saw Bruce & E Street in concert 3 times this tour)
Bono
Russell Crowe
now...
David Cook!!

Hmmm...musician theme noted.

Welcome fellow Springsteen nut!!! (me too, on D&D tour I saw 3 concerts in 10 DAYS!!!) only 1 so far this tour, but I have tickets for 8/2, so I can't get to the AI show that day.

Would love to know what DC would pick if there was a Springsteen week.

Interestingly, I watched this clip last night on youtube (after All Right Now), and I was thinking of starting a topic on this, do you think David Cook wsa too cocky? A coworker of mine voiced that very early opinion, and held it right up to the end (his fave was Carly). I told him I disagreed, but watching that clip back, I think I could see why someone would think that. He actually started to back track right there at the end a little, so maybe he got a little caught up in the moment and realized he'd better stop before he got on Simon's bad side. Luckily for hiim, the next week he did "Hello" and there was no possibilty of any kind of confrontation....

You know, I kick myself for holding that against him, because when I saw that episode it turned me off a bit also. Any other season when someone stood up to Simon like that it was the kiss of death. Now I feel I missed the full circle of his journey, and only really fell hard midway through. I had always thought that someone had to have said something to him, because after that it seemed to be so out of character to have done that. After all, there is no shortage of confidence in Mr. Cook. Of course. the powers that be I'm sure had seen already that he was going to be so head and shoulders above anyone else (and he is) which means $$$ to them in the end!

Hello ladies! I suppose I will throw myself into this category, as my husband has already referred to me as a cougar. Poor, understanding, patient guy he is laugh.gif . I'm 30, married, and have 2 young ones. Like many of you, I have never crushed like this. I find myself cyber stalking him and DVR'ing his television performances. What is this virus I have? laugh.gif

I didn't really even begin watching this season of idol until I heard the sexiest voice EVER singing Billie Jean. It was like he was calling me to the tv. I was hooked. I can't get enough. I even voted, something I had never done before. I feel like a little schoolgirl, all giddy with anticipation. *sigh*

My dear husband downloaded all of the cover songs from Idol and put them on a cd for me and ended it with The Time Of My Life. I've been listening non-stop. I was going to pre-order his cd, but noticed it was only $9.99. Is that wrong that I want to wait and pay full price? I don't want to rip him off!

Anyway, glad I found a place that I can swoon with other ladies over my new obsession! Nice to *meet* you all!

Yes, quite a difference in weather! I'm "next door" in Camarillo - even milder in weather than T.O! Was in R.I. for a quick visit after attending a convention in Boston in 2006. As an American history buff, I was in heaven! Hope to get back soon.

Have fun at the concert! (like you wouldn't LOL!) It'll be great but I'm looking forward to the day when DC is the ENTIRE concert!! I hope my cougar heart can take it!

Re: mouthing off to Simon after All Right Now, and then never again (see this strand, my first post pg. 7 or so for beginning)
Well, I don't really think it would have been "powers that be" that would have said something to DC that would or could change his attitude. I think it's more likely to have been a friend or family member, or just watching the tape back himself, OR off-camera interaction with Simon. SOMETHING happened, I think, and it caused Simon - later - to gain personal respect for DC and vice versa. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering if DC apologized to Simon (later). That would certainly explain a lot about how things went over the next several weeks.

If this topic belongs somewhere else (not in the middle of Cougar intros) I hope someone who knows how will move the whole conversation and get some more people in on it. Thanks everyone who chimed in so far. This is helping me with no DC on TV withdrawal. Ha!

How cool to have such an understanding husband! I think some of the ladies are like me and have to keep it toned down for hubby's sake. ;-)

But you're only 5 years older than David! I'm 5 years older than my husband, but it's not a cougar thing in my mind since I'm 56 and he's 51.

In any event, nice to meet you, I enjoy talking to ladies of any age who share our obsession!

Hi Jenney! Thanks!

I know I'm not "technically" a cougar, but I feel like I'm way too old to be *enamored* by such a young man.

Yep. I’m a goner. I’ve been off the deep end for him for awhile, but I only found this site/board/thread today…I’m glad to have a niche to fit into….if you all will have me of course…

i’m 34…married. My husband thinks this is a riot and says I can have a ‘free pass’ (as if…). Awesome, right?

I have read all of your posts and am so entertained and moved by all of them. You have all so eloquently spoken exactly what I have been feeling but have been unable to find the words to say. He’s magical and I am SO excited that the journey is just beginning!!!

This is kind of weird, but when I was 15 I was NUTS over new kids on the block….i seriously have not felt this way since then and now, new kids are trying to make their comeback and I bouht a ticket (out of obligation to the younger me) and I can’t manage to get excited at ALL because, honeslty, DC is pretty much all I care about right now………wow…it feels exhilarating!

Just dropping in to say Hi to everyone. I'm proud to be a Cougar who supported Cookie by voting her fingers off. I just found this place the other day, and love it! Hi to my fellow Cougars, as well as everyone else. It's great to be able to enjoy David's talents with so many!

Hi C4C, another cougar here (I rather prefer lioness tho'; Im a Leo ). I voted the whole time after
the final "round"; my darn cell kept shutting off/low battery and had to keep turning it back on!

I'm soooooooooooo glad he won. Everyone who was/is concerned that he'll have to compromise
doing the album thru Idol, shouldn't worry. He'll stick to his ideas as best he can while cooperating
where it's warranted; then he can do what he wants with the next album, ya know!

And this way he gets the highest visibility, which is great b/c this guy has captured everyone with his
truth, beauty and grace and the world needs someone of his caliber with mass appeal to follow in
these times. God Bless him! I just love him rolleyes.gif He's speeeecial!

Peace, light, LOVE, Carrie

Well I finally got up enought nerve to admit to myself I am hooked on COOK
I have done little but think about him sence I saw him on AI..and I am a cougar for sure, the guy I go with now is 11 yrs younger than me and I adore him...but David had woke up something inside me. I think he is the first real rocker we have had in a very long time...you know the REAL rockers, hot and rockin...
I think that is why we are all going nuts for this guy.
He is in actually one of us...he rocks and knows how to feel the music like the old timers....

AND HE IS SOOO HOT HE IS SMOKIN....his eyes his smile, OMG!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I'm a Cougar for Cook even though I am happily married to the same man for 30 years. He's been acting a little jealous now that David Cook has captured my attention these last few months. I can't help it. He just has IT. I predict he will blow people away with his album and concert performances. We've only seen little bits and pieces of what he can do. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us. In the mean time, I will have to be satisfied scouring the net for bits and pieces about him. This will certainly be my first stop.

My first crush was Paul McCartney. I also had the hots for Russell Crowe, then Chris Daughtry and now David Cook. I like all sides of him, from the sensitive "The World I Know" side to the Hot...hot...hot..."All Right Now" side. But he really had me at Hello. That's when I started scouring the net for anything I could find on him and counting the days until the next performance....I think I've read every article, and seen every interview, not to mention replayed the extended version of Guitar Hero dozens of times...

Also, I think Simon deserved David's sharp comeback about his lack of charisma. It was not only uncalled for but the antithesis of David Cook who is oozing hot molten lava charisma. Simon on the other hand sounded pretty effeminate when he told him "I loved it" after Hello...
