Okay, so I have to say
Hero trumped
Time of my life for my week's LSS. I absolutely adore the blend of their voices, our David and David A. Did anybody notice David going into his
falsetto somewhere in the song?
Thatgave me goosebumps all over. How amazing is it for hear him sing in such an awfully high but equally amazing tone. Hah! Magical.

Anybody here who feels that way?

i noticed that too.. and it was crazy, because early on the song it's just his husky voice and when they duet and he sings falsetto.. wow.. i got so weak on the knees! he's really versatile i love it!

The blending was sooo amazing! Love the second voice of DC when it was DA's turn. But, as I listen to it on repeat-mode.. (as what I'm doing right now..) I think, DC's voice was on lead. I mean.. it can really stand out over DA's. And his (DC's) voice really fits into the song. But, I hate the screaming of the DA Fans when it became his (DA's) turn. And, Yea! the falsetto! So love it!

Hero was completely awesome!!
I wish they would have kept Cookie at the lead with Archie back up the whole time. Archie just didn't make the second verse work as well with him as the lead. But It wouldn't have been nearly as fair then would it?
Cookie's falsetto... makes me blush!!

Yeah! I have to agree on that. I think the song fits Cook better, IMO. But still, they made it sound pretty awesome.
I know, it made me blush as well!

I can't even explain how exactly it feels to hear him sing that way. It's
weakening (in a good, sexy way). I totally melted.

"Time of My Life" is that quinessential AI song. But "Hero" is that mold-breaking song - it's so dynamic and powerful. I love that song anyway, so the fact that DC rocked it out was impressive and goosebump-inducing. With ZZ Top there, too, the only thing truly missing from the finale was Chad Kroeger.

He was there, sort of--I think Cook was channeling Chad Kroeger when he was singing that song... very reminiscent of the original... not that that's a bad thing!

The first C's should've been there: (David)
Cook,
Chris (Daughtry), and
Chad (Kroeger). A trio collaboration would've been rock music gold.
And a plus if the whole band was there - Ryan Peake and David Cook on the same stage? Heart attack times 1000 for me.

Yes, David's falsetto in "Hero" was incredible.
I told my roommate "I wish DC was singing it by himself." To which she responded "Then we wouldn't hear his amazing harmony."
SO TRUE!
For me, it's when he sings the word "...wings..." that really gets me going!

I think both Cookie and Archie did a great job on that song, and it was really nice to see that both could harmonize and do a duet like that. I do think it was something really different for Archie and may've been a good learning experience for him to branch out that way.
Really, really cute and really, really good. I wonder if they will have a duet on the tour and if they may do this one again. I have to say, I was not the world's biggest Daughtry fan, but when he and Elliott did a duet of "Savin' Me" on the AI tour, it was totally the best thing in the whole show.

I got that too, Piperlily! It really touched me how Archie looked so happy to be on that stage with DC. I thought he was totally looking up to him. And I loved how DC pointed to Archie right at the beginning. They obviously have a lot of respect for each other. This'll be a great summer for them on tour. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well their voices blended on this song. Two voices with totally different timbres, but they worked really well together. Something that really impressed me was hearing how David C. really pulled back once Archie took over the lead. He was so very careful to NOT overpower David A's voice (which he could so easily do), that it REALLY showed me exactly how much care and respect he has for David A. And of course, after hearing him do THAT, THEN he hits me with the "false" during the chorus and I though DAMN!! Could the man GET any better? The answer is obviously YES!!!

I think the song totally suited Cookie better.
On Larry King, Cookie claimed that the duet went good, but you could sense Archie going "really..I think you sung ab it over me.." or said something to that effect, and not so sure the duet sounded that good for Archie, and I have to agree.
I think they're so different they can't really sing together.
I'm so wishing for Cookie to do this song solo.

As much as I love Archie, I think that performance is a prime example of the "maturity" levels between their respective voices. David's mic went out after they got closer to the end of the stage, but you could hear his voice mostly because Archies mic was up and I also noticed that the falsetto was there, and was perfectly harmonized.
Hopefully, the two David's will sing it again on tour...
****fingers crossed***

I bought this video and have replayed it so many times. Cook looks so happy and sounds so good on this; Archie sounds great too (although he looks less confident). I love how you can really see their mutual respect and brotherly love. (But it also seems pretty clear during this video that the final ranking, #1 and #2, was for the best, for each of them.)
They should definitely perform this duet again.
And I'd love to buy a studio version, without the crowd noise and with a little intro.

i really love that song [Hero] and COOK did a GREAT, WONDERFUL vocal on that song....i really believe DC sings these songs way better than the org singer of these songs!...yep! it was DC'S ideal to do Hero! if you listen to the Larry King Show....Larry asked both David[s] if they would ever sing together again, DC said i got alot of great feedback from people liking archie, and I singing Hero....listen very close to what Archie said [he said i cant sing the way cook can sing, he went on to say, that cook blew him away on that song [duet] DC was so sweet, and kind to archie , he said no you did a WONDERFUL job on that song!....but i have to agree DC....sung the hell out of that song... i could only hear DC'S vocal, with Archie in the background cuz it is so amazing the control DC has over his voice, i havent heard a Arist in along time that has the low, middle and high range that DC has, and the total control over his voice WOW! i do like Archie, [he is a sweetie] and really looks up to DC! and i think he did ok on Hero! BUT it just goes to show, DA is still very young, and will grow into control over his voice! i am just so proud that DC, and DA have alot of class, and respect for each other!

Totally agree. If he had performed this on Top 3 or Top 2 night, the audience would have been on its feet cheering and going insanely batshit crazy with love! Yes, "The World I Know" was understated and subtle, but something like Hero is more palatable to the masses who do not appreciate subtlety (including Simon, hah).
Well, perhaps it was for the better that he ended with "The World I Know" and got a sorta negative review from Simon, causing all of us to go atwitter with anger and vote for 4 hours straight FTW!
But yeah...Cook singing Hero solo (with appropriate backup vocals) at any time would have been unbelievable.

Same here. That's exactly my observation, too.
And later, Archie said that he feared he would be drowned by DC. Anyone who is familiar with this Nickelback hit (also the theme song in Spider-man 1) could easily tell, that Hero fits DC's voice perfectly. So Archie's worry was not baseless. But, DC was there like his big brother egging on and supporting him, never overpowering him. That for me is another "Hero" quality of David Cook.
Even before the Finale, David had been exhibiting his mastery of the falsetto. In his solo performances and even in group numbers. His transition from his usual voice to the falsetto is very fluid. It seems seamless. Not a lot of singers can do that.
When I heard the Hero duets, I knew a lot of you girls (and ladies) would get weak on your knees.
(because my female friends DID!)
The Hero duet may not be perfect to some, but it was a revelation.... Two voices, so very opposites... Two singers, from two totally different genres.... Two performers, who despite being destined by fate to be opponents, showed their respect and admiration and blended in perfect harmony in a duet that no one thought could be the best duet in American Idol season 7.

Sorry, but I just HAVE to point this out. "Hero" is NOT a Nickelback song. It's Chad Kroeger's song. I know for some it's not a big deal, but I hate it when people say that Nickelback performed "Hero" when in reality Chad did that song solo with Saliva's Josey Scott. I'm not mad or anything, but it's a pet peeve of mine and I just had to say something on it.
