Does anyone know why the other contestant friends called him Sugar Foot?
I think they said something about the dancing medleys they'd do, it came from that. But I'd like more info if anyone has any...

Plus now I realize that's what the announcer called him Wed night in his boxing intro: "David Sugar Foot Cook!"

I don't know but I would be interested to see what it might mean or even thoughts people have on what it "possibly" means.

Look up the interview DC did with JD Roberto on the Idol extra show...

I think he said that was the nickname everyone gave him for the dance rehearsals.

I wonder if it actually means he can dance but he just doesn't showcase it??
I've seen older things with him in it and he has rhythm..

I was thinking it might mean something like that -- he definitely has rhythm, I bet he CAN dance really well actually. He just hides it and pretends he can't. We all know he's got the looks and moves down on stage!

So yeah, maybe that's what they mean, but strange name -- I'm still wondering if there's a firsthand explanation somewhere. Maybe someone can ask him that in all these question interview submission things!

If that is why they called him sugarfoot (because of this very definition) I find nothing wrong with that. I mean he obviously is in touch with his emotions and that is damn sexy, so if it means he has some woman like qualities that's great. I wish more guys in this world had more woman like qualities the senstitivity, warmth, openness, humble and all the great stuff we women stand for. He is strong but he is soft (can't come up with the word I want here, it's on the tip of my tongue and it's not "soft" but what the heck) when he needs to be.

But also if it's because he actually can dance I believe that too. Even on stage when he "hid" his ability you could see he knew what he was doing and oh baby that hip swing he does *swoons*

Yeah, you're right. All those things are what made me love him even more. I just didn't like the wording in the definition... seems a little insulting I guess. Anyhoo. I love those things about him. and that hip swing as well. <3

I cant remember the exact interview but he was talking about a school play that he was in, and he says he couldnt dance, but after watching idol hes not that bad of a dancer!!!

I remember him saying that, and I say, yeeeah right! Cuz if you've seen the clip from his school play where he's singing and walking on his hands and doing flips...

And if you guys watch the group medley for the Dolly week where they're lined up with their hands in pockets and kicking their heels side to side -- watch closely.
JC looks HYSTERICAL in that lineup, he's like jumping too high.

No, no, no...that's Danny, not David! Sounds a lot more like Ryan Seacrest (or the aforementioned Danny Noriega) to me. Although, in his defense, there is nothing wrong with a man that cries.

And regarding the dancing, he says in the 'Introducing David Cook' video on AmericanIdol.com that he can not dance, so I don't think it's a dance ability cover-up or anything.

Well, with respect to David's self-proclaimed (and so-called, IMO) lack of dancing ability, I kind of thought that the nickname "Sugarfoot" meant that he's got some sweet dance steps, contrary to what he says...

Well, I thought Sugarfoot was a really cute nickname! I thought it was more toward's his dancing ability, but I may have watch AI Extra again. I may just have to call him Sugarfoot now.

I think he can dance better than some of the rest. LOL! I think the hula swaying of the hips thing he did on one interview after he won was pretty sexy you know! That man can indeed sway his hips! LOL!!

Carly said in the post finale special that Sugarfoot was the nickname they gave him during their dancing classes. She didn't state why, though. I'm guessing (from watching their dancing numbers) that he isn't that good in dancing, but is really trying hard to make some moves. I love Sugarfoot!

He said in an interview (Larry King maybe) that they gave him that nickname in dance classes. I guess to mock him cuz he can't dance.

i think you guys are right...........i think it's to make light of his non-dancing ability. kind of like the "heart-throb tatoo".......not that it matters, i think he did the hula just fiiiine!!!!!!!

Personally I like a man thats in touch w/ his femine side, kinda of a "girly-man" I think thats way sexier then a redneck , think hes macho, tough guy!!! That is a huge turn-off to me!!!!!
