No. It’s a bad idea to call radio stations at random. Thats a sure fire way to piss off the Program Directors of the radio stations and guarantee the jocks will start mocking your favorite, if they haven’t already. Oh, they’ll also start mocking you as fans. In the end, you aren’t helping, but hurting your favorite

Leave the promotion up to the label. It’s their job to promote the single, not yours. You made David Cook the American Idol with your votes. I know it may be hard to wrap your head around this, but you’ll never have that kind of direct impact on his fate ever again. If there’s some legit voting thingy, like VH1 Top 20 videos, or a radio station in your market, that’s already playing the single that has a request line, go for it. But, otherwise, buy his records, go to his concerts. That’s how you support him.

Now guys, don't get offended with what she is saying here. She is trying to give us some good advice. She's not saying don't request music at all but she makes a good point. If you look back at what some prior fanbases of other idols did, it ended up ticking off DJ's and the program directors (the ones that ultimately make the decision in what singles get played and what doesn't). In other words, whether a song is played or not is not up to your local DJ. It's up to their bosses and the bosses over their boss (corporate). Remember, most coronation singles don't get a whole lot of airplay like the actual 1st single from an album does. That's not to say that this one won't. She is just trying to give us some good advice on how to support Cookie.

This is one of the reasons that Blake is not getting airplay among other reasons but that is the main ace in the hole. Cookie will have the label support, since has won the title, and I'm sure his music will get airplay, but when the next single comes out, it will have a chance at doing much better. This coronation song is so much better than "This Is My Now" because Cook owned on the stage and in the studio version but these songs typically don't do as well. I think this song will be promoted and will get airplay but I think the next single will do so much better because it won't be one that he was "forced" to sing. wink.gif

then feel free to take down my radio station thread. my original intention was to create website hits for the audiostream on my local station.

Oh, I know you meant well by that. I'm sure everyone else did too. smile.gif One of the things one the fans brought up over there was that whether he is signed to Arista or RCA, is that the label makes a smart choice on his first single (meaning not the winning song) because the first single can make you or break you. We know he will have label support it's just the issue of the "right" song being released if that makes sense. smile.gif
