Thanks Annette. It looks like they have been updated. I can see that the 4 digit audience impression # for Z100 is still slowly sliding but I do know they are still playing the song. As far as the overall audience impression # for TOML, all I can say is WHOA! It's really a noticeable difference this morning. LOL

LOL! I see what is going on with the overall audience impression # for the song, on the top 40 side. It looks like its majorly messed up for both Sirius and XM radio. It's looks like it's a number much higher than it should be for both. Idiots.

I think the song is going to be a HUGE hit for AC and HAC. Actually, it's already in the making it looks like. As long as Z100 continues playing the song on the Top 40 side, then I think stations will continue adding it but once the spins start going in the minus column then the station adds may stop since it seems that a lot of other stations seem to follow their lead.
I am amazed it how well this song is doing in those other 2 formats. I think a lot of people are but I do think it's a better fit for the HAC and AC formats. In fact, it's a perfect fit.

I wouldn't worry about the Z100 audience impressions. They're still giving it the same amount of spins they've been giving it consistently. Some days they give it 3 spins, some days they give it 2 spins, but they haven't really dropped the amount of spins they give it. I'll ask my friend about the AI's specifically but I know it got an uptick in AI the nights it got played on the Romeo countdown, when the weekends hit they tend to drop anyway because listenership is down so the drop might just be steeper. These numbers could be very complicated but he's really doing very well overall. And, be grateful Z100 is playing it at all. They don't normally touch these AI coronation songs with the exception of Kelly's, and some "buzz" spins they give them on the heels of an AI win.
I do think something is messed up with Mediabase (and it could very well be for other people and other songs too) but Z100 definitely gave it a spin around 10am-10:30 yesterday morning and no AM spin is showing.

Pam, thanks again for all your hard work posting these figures. I agree totally that the song is a hit on Hot AC. I am hearing it regularly on the Hot AC radio station here and also on the Flight 26 station on XM. 2204 spins for Hot AC is impressive!

This is true. Noramlly, these songs aren't touched with a 10-foot pole.

What made really laugh though was seeing how messed up the audience impressions for Sirius and XM was especially with XM showing a -4 on the spin count. Ohter than that, I think the chart is proabbly ok.

I wouldn't be surprised about the Z100 spins being messed up a little but this with these 2 satellite stations kind of got a chuckle out of me just a bit because this is the first time I've seen them messed up like this and that is when I realized why the audience impression was so high. LOL

The NYC AC station that I mentioned yesterday that gave it a spin has now given it two more spins today..one this morning and now another. The station is 106.7 WLTW. This is the #1 AC Clear Channel station and these are very impressive times they're giving TOML spins. Usually major stations like this start with overnight spins but they spun it during the morning drive and the lunch hour time frames. This is big! Having this and Z100 on board is a very a good sign RCA is playing nice with Clear Channel

This really augers well for David´s future. He is being readily accepted by the DJ´s and radio stations as well as by his peers who all want to write with him. The AI PTB are crazy about him. Incase you didn't know this already audience impressions usually take a tumble on 4th of July so if tomorrow morning there's a drop there don't be alarmed. The AC chart can be a little strange with lots of ups and downs and it normally moves very slow so the pace he shot up so fast was WAY too fast. He might slowly regain some spins back but if he doesn't it's ok, it had a great AC run. Since it landed at NO. 8 on the actual Billboard chart so it's peak would be 8 even if it stops gaining spins.
Pam08
Jul 5 2008, 06:58 AM
As Trina said above, the song did take a tumble on the top 40 side, but not as bad as I thought it would be considering yesterday was the 4th. The airplay from XM Radio still caused the audience impression to rise. Some stations got a few decent spin pickups yesterday and then a few drops.

No, this doesn't mean the song has peaked on Top 40 necessarily. Yesterday was July 4th and with the holiday as Trina stated above about the possibility of the song seeing a decrease in airplay for the holiday and it indeed did. I'm noticing today monitoring the airplay on the yes.com site that the airplay has picked back up quite a bit now that the holiday is over. The song has been going up and down on AC from one day to the next but on HAC it has been on a steady climb upward.

As far as top 40, that is something I monitor pretty closely with the morning and afternoon reports. I found it's usually pretty easy to tell when a song has peaked.

Hi Pam:
Thank you.
I think alot of the stations during the July 4th weekend do special programming. For example WPLJ - 95.5 in NY this weekend (started on Thursday afternoon - Sunday) they have the Top 500 songs in the last 30 years playing. If other stations are having similar type programs that may have something to do with the numbers this weekend.
Just a thought.

I'm not sure how relevant this is to the overall picture, but the Hot AC station I heard TOML on - 94.5 - decided to switch formats to country yesterday with no warning. This is their 3rd format switch in 3 years (I am in B'ham, AL as my ID states). David was getting about 25 spins a week before they switched over, as far as I was able to tell from the Mediabase reports.
This pisses me off something royal because while I listen to some country, I am VERY picky and I am sick and tired
of the formats in this area switching around every 6 months. It is freaking insane and I never know what is going on.

I live in an area where one of the stations here seems to change formats that often. In fact, it's been happening for years. Here in my area, the stations aren't even Mediabase monitored so it really doesn't make a lot of difference one way or the other and I would even say the same would go for your stations if that is the case with you as well. I know it matters to us if we get to hear it or not, but what counts for airplay are those stations only. I only listen to the HAC station here. The format has been HAC for about 27 years on the same dial and these days, that is sort of rare. The formats have sort of changed with the times (decades I guess you could say), but the call sign has stayed the same.

Annette,
You'll have to forgive me. I just noticed your post. You have a good point there. This is similar to what happens from December 26th-January 2nd every year when stations go away from their regular programming to do special year-end countdowns. Usually right after the year end countdowns are over, stations go right back to normal programming just as they were before thanksgiving. The local HAC station here starts playing all Christmas music from Thanksgiving until the day after Christmas.

Well, it looks as if the top 40 slide is continuing. I'm wondering if radio stations are still doing special programming for the entire weekend. I noticed the airplay kind of slowed down last night and didn't start picking back up again till around 1 am this morning. The song is still gaining spins at Z100 so the audience impression continues to rise.

I don't think special programming is still happening. It's entirely possible it's starting to peak. When spins start going up around 1am it means some stations might just slow things down to overnight spins. I noticed WPLJ in particular which use to play the hell out of it ALL the time suddenly slowed down a lot and I think even Z100 is playing it more.
