This really is something. After a dip list week on my local station KBIG, it's back and back big. I've been wondering what's happening here but it just seems that people have embraced this song, and more importantly, the radio world seems to be behind David. I hope the world of AC ROCK formats will embrace him this fall! I have a feeling, given the support of other rock artists, he will have cred in the rock world, including the radio programmers.

That is a huge plus. I hope it continues.

I am happy radio play is increasing nationally. WTMX in Chicago seems to have cut the number of spins in half over the last two days, down to three- and the concert here is this weekend. I don't understand it.

Top 40 is always going to be a hard sell for a song like this. The majority of CS don't even crack it: in fact, I think this is the first since Kelly that has managed to do so, right? That he's done so well on the two other formats is pretty astounding.

Hard as it is for us to believe, Top 40 stations probably have other priorities than AI. The one in my area seems to think playing old rap songs and hyping a Tony Hawk skateboarding event, for instance, is a top priority.

Pam, those aren't the numbers I'm seeing on All Access. Are you looking at the "rolling chart" or the "published chart"? The Rolling chart is the one that's the same as the ones we use to look at on mediabase.com since it updates. He actually cracked Top 5 this morning on AC leaping past "Apologize" and now has over 10 million in audience. I wouldn't be surprised to see it really explode on there now. "Bubbly", at no. 4 also lost it's bullet so since he has a bullet of 185 it also wouldn't surprise me to see him crack Top 4. RCA HAS to be thrilled with this. I doubt they could have expected this kind of chart performance.

PLJ in NY was the first NY station to play TOML. I was so excited when I heard that I started to listen to them more often and I am getting old. I'll be texting all weekend! I want to meet the top 10!!!! I have tickets already

Look for a bump in audience and in overall spins because TOML is on Ryan's American Top 40 countdown again and also Rick Dee's Top 40 countdown. Not sure when Rick's airs though. some markets get Ryan today, but most tomorrow. KIIS gave it a spin around 6:30am'ish so there has to be some countdown on there at that time I would imagine since that's the same time last week it got a spin on there.

Yeah, it does seem to be getting spins at KIIS as a result of a countdown possibly, but that's ok. We will take it however we can get it.

With the afternoon report, the song picked up 1 spin on the Top 40 side.

I am guessing that there was movement on a lot of other songs in Top 40 since it went up in spins but down in rank.

I wish it was doing better on that front but don't know why I am bitching in the first place since hardly anybody else even gets on those charts with those songs.

Top 4 in AC is a great thing.

But it did move up on Billboard's Adult Top 40, Hot AC and Hot 100 charts. On Hot AC tracks it was a greatest gainer, for the 3rd or 4th time, moving up from 8 to 6. It moved up to #9 on Hot Adult Top 40 (so it's in the top 10 on both charts), and moved up in Billboard Hot 100, from 51 to 49. So at least the boost in spins as reflected in the Mediabase numbers is bearing good results on Billboard's charts, which are really the most important US charts. TOML also hit #10 in Ryan Seacrest's AT40 broadcast, and #11 (up from 13) in Casey Kasem's AT20 broadcast.
I think you're right li'lsparrow about movement for other songs. I bet spins are up for most "current" songs after the July 4th Holiday, when special programming had everything taking a dip. That would expain why TOML isn't moving up in Mediabase rankings.

I was curious why his audience impression numbers dropped so much yesterday so after a little checking it turns out everyone had huge drops on all the charts. Per cary78663 yesterday at carriefans.com

That chart calculation is interesting. I was wondering what was going on myself. lol

And back up we go . . . man, this one is topsy-turvy.

I registered with All Access this afternoon to see how it moved up in rank with what seems to me to be so little movement. I'm no expert, but a lot of the Top 40 songs seem to be moving faster than this one does. Other than that, I really couldn't understand much of it.

However, it seems to really be gaining ground on both AC and Hot AC. It seems to me that he's got the most movement in the Top 10 on AC and pretty much everything between him and the Top 5 on Hot AC seems to be losing ground. I didn't realize how close those numbers were until I actually looked at them. He's still got a lot of ground to cover in those formats, but I think he could go pretty high.

Yeah, this one ain't going away any time soon.

It's great to see the jump in Hot AC and the gain in AC. I really think he will hit the Top 5 in the first format pretty soon. I wish it wasn't stuck on Top 40, but what can you do?

Another thing to note here is that I think we may see a sales gain this week (or if we see a drop it will probably be another small one). TOML was at #49 on ITunes two weeks ago when everybody was freaking out over Archie's single. Sometime last week it jumped up to #43. Right now it's at #40. Right above "Lollipop". It's #5 on Amazon but I don't know if it's ever dropped that far on that chart.

No Problem. Actually, it's sitting at #46 now at i-tunes. I have the i-tunes feed saved in my bookmarks and the i-tunes feed updates more than once a day, but what will show up in tomorrow's #'s is where it ended up by the end of the day on Sunday. If we do see a drop, I think it will another small one.

When I looked at the iTunes feed this afternoon it was #39, that's the highest I've seen it in a long time. Depending on what tomorrows numbers we might see an increase next week. This week if there is a decrease it should be another tiny one like last week.

Well, I'd love to say the song was in the top 50 as far as i-tunes sales because that is what Kirsten at mj's blog posts every Wednesday is the songs that rank in the top 50 in digital sales and it's usually for the end of the day on Sunday but for some baffling reason we don't have the sales #'s again like last week. I guess we will have to wait for the numbers again from Ken Barnes this afternoon. There seems to be a slight decrease in spins in all 3 formats.
