I have about 3 minutes and I'm not going to go over the top here but the reason for the "rapid decline" in David Cook's sales is because all of his songs were taken off of ITunes except for TOML. To try to spin this as some sort of failure on Cookie's part is ludicrous. The songs aren't available anymore. That is why they are not charting. (Same goes for Archie). Music Week Online and other venues may not be aware of this, but Billboard, the RIAA, and RCA certainly are, and David Cook did reap a huge accomplishment by getting so many songs in the Top 100 purely on ITunes sales.
Oh, and by the way, if I wanted to read negative and inaccurate news about David Cook, I would go to TWOP or an Archie site.

Hmmm. We have about 2-3 Hot AC stations here as well as a Pop station. Surely one of them has to have it?
PDX needs to get with the picture. Eugene has it already.
I know what you mean. Friggin Appleton has it, and they're like a 1/3 of the size of Milwaukee! I don't see Madison either, WI radio stations need to get their arses in gear!
Well, it's like I said, this is the abbreviated version of the report. I'm not a paid member that can log in and see the entire list. What we need to see is Chicago and NYC play this song. I said this before. It seems like Z100 will play Jordin's music automatically no matter what the song is and what we need is to see them add either this song or the actual first single. Some of the bigger stations need to pick this song up. What needs to happen is for RCA to make a wise choice when picking the first single to be released from the CD because that can mean all the difference in the world. Usually if the wrong song is picked the first time around, then it seems to be much more difficult to get a hit if the first single doesn't chart with any singles that come after it.

I will have to say that RCA has done a pretty good job with pushing this song so far. Plus, this song has done much better than Jordin's winning song ever did. Oh I know, don't worry. It's just that when we get the single, Chicago will soon follow suit- not wanting to be outdone by us. The opposite also applies, the two cities are in constant competition with each other with being so close to each other. And it would be one in the eye to Chicago (if we get the single first), since they're getting the tour but we're not.
I am not worried, I just want to hear it on my radio for purely selfish personal enjoyment =)

I usually listen to country, but this week I've been playing Analog Heart and Axium non-stop on my iPod. Absolutely love both CDs. And David!

Let me remind you of something, The forum you are in is "Charts" and the Headline topic is "John, Paul, George, Ringo, And Cookie: "Idol" Winner Sets (And Sells) Records" My comments an a topic and forum I didn't create are completely appropriate. Sorry some are offended. You may wish to go to a topic you are more comfortable with. I merely reacted to a few absurd comments by a few on the forum topic, specifically, comparisons to some other artists. If in fact you are well versed on the"industry", than you know what I am talking about. As I said I voted for the guy - way back - and not just at the end.
My response to the "forum topic" is.....Most artists - release albums - which enter an album chart if sales are good. Of course no "cook" album was available for downloading - in the absence of this, realizing the huge interest or curiosity factor generated by a popular TV show, idol placed all available songs on Itunes with no ability to buy an album. In order for someone to hear "Cook" they had to download each individual song -again, instead of buying a single album. All of these songs were infact...singles, this is how the numbers from a newbie - impacted, and idol minipulated the singles charts to such a degree that record which sttod for 45 years was approached- and is infact quite unusual. It is the only reason why. The ruth is, the time of my life slipped to number 10 on Itunes and #9 on Billboard - which, in fact is a steep decline, for a supposed heated number 3 "entry" song, and his commercially best song, with a media campaign the size of (idol) Cooks. Many of Cooks 11 charters were at the bottom of the charts including number #99 - and did infact get there by a mere few days of heavy downloading as a result of TV and the absence of an album. This is infact WHY he dominated those charts and nearly broke a 45 year old major record. Same thing with Miley back a while ago who also broke records and some actually made the same absurd comparisons toother artists with her. Everyone also knows that there was a huge initial 2 or 3 day interest - which than "declined" as with ALL other idol artists including Sparks, Clay, Fantasia, Rubin and Hicks to name a few. Daugherty is great and very successful, and was also touted to be "the one", he's really good, like a lot of other artists are good. Oddly every Idol winner on Idol Forums after having those rapid record setting sales numbers were touted as "the one". As a matter of fact many Idols hit number 1, Cook has not, yet it doesnt mean he won't at some point or isn't really good. However, comparisons to a group that held 14 spots in the charts including the numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5 positions at the same time - not to mention charting worldwide at the same time and being on Album charts......at the same time, is again - an absurd comparison. Is this an inappropriate response to a forum topic / titled ""John, Paul, George, Ringo, And Cookie: "Idol" Winner Sets (And Sells) Records". Thanks!!

I don't know how many of you actually read this thread or mj's blog when she posts the Mediabase updates there, but one of the posters there in that thread mentioned Rate The Music. The poster said that in the AC (Adult Contemporary) category, TOML is rated #1 in that category. I went to check and sure enough, it is. If you decide to register:

You will need to fill out the registration form and they will periodically send you alerts by email about different surveys you can take or you can just do what I do and just check the site periodically to see if they have a survey up. It's totally free and it won't cost you anything to register. They just give you 20-30 second samples of songs and you check YES if you have heard it before, rate it by how you like it, and then finally do you think it's been played too much or something like that. It's a yes/no question basically. I was signed up for Top 40/pop but I changed mine to Adult Contemporary so that I could take the survey that was there.

He is still doing a great job up till now... Anyone saw magic rainbow acoustic version he did for walmart shareholders.. Talk about changing a cheesy song into a classic memorable song.. Maybe I'm bias but what the heck..

Sorry, got excited and dropped a decade or so off my age It seems to me that his spins are increasing. And I am hoping it will increase downloads as it is purchased by those outside the Idol fandom.
