When would the sales numbers come in to see if TOML got any bump in #'s from Oprah?

Wednesday. If he got a bump, it should have happened shortly after the Oprah appearance but if the song got a bump from it, I don't think it will be by much like it would have been if we were talking about it being featured on the Olympics or as it was featured on SYTYCD. SYTYCD and the Olympics helped pull some nice size download numbers for the song that I don't think we will see from Oprah because we are talking about a different type of audience and the fact that the emphasis was on the Olympic athletes and not David as it should have been and for that reason, I can't complain because David got a great opportunity from the appearance and it was a terrific performance.

This song has done better than most people ever imagined it would.

YAY! This makes me so HAPPY! I wanna "SING IT OUT LOUD! The little song that COULD and IS! Can you imagine how busy, Pam08, you will be when the CD hits tracking all this stuff! WOW!! You will need some help!!!

awwwwww! you guys are too much. It doesn't look like TOML got a bump from the Oprah appearance or at least it wasn't enough to get the song back into the top 50. I'll be posting those numbers later on this afternoon when they are revealed. On the other hand, TOML is trying to gain spins on the Top 40 side again. It's only 2 spins but this is truly the magic rainbow that could.

At 2 o'clock this morning I had a revelation that it will truly be a miracle if it goes platinum at this point, because even Kellie's coronation song fizzled by 3 weeks from now and TOML needs at least 2 more good months.

So.... I was a little afraid coming to see the numbers today.... fearing that the downward trend would continue.

Hooray for being wrong.

is anybody else worried that putting the new single out might hurt TOML?

edit: don't get me wrong...i'm not saying that i don't want the new single out...like yestterday... but i was just wondering about the effects it would have on magic rainbow

Brooke, two things occur to me about what the "Light On" release might do. I think it could help by generating interest in David, especially among new fans. Many people have expressed that view but I'm also a little skeptical because the songs will be in two completely different genres. The rockers who discover and like "Light On" probably won't care for TOML.

That said.... I'm kind of over TOML in a way. I woke up this morning not even caring how it placed on AT40. Didn't listen! If "Light On" comes out of the gate strong... or even has a spectacular first 6 weeks leading up to the album, it really doesn't matter. Yes, platinum would be great, but it suddenly occurs to me that it's really the "new" stuff from here on in that really matters. At least to me. And to the critics. Funny how my view point has changed in the past 36 hours. My attention and enthusiasm now is 100% behind "Light On" and the album. But I still want TOML to go platinum

Oh Scott, say it ain't so! You can't just abandon your platinum sentiments. You had gotten me so excited that I made friends buy it and they had their friends buy it. I'm now depressed so I'll play a country song backwards so that... my lover returns, my dog comes back and I cease to be an alcoholic. Kidding of course!

LOL! Marilyn that's' hilarioius. I'm still pulling for the little coronation song that could. What a feather in David's cap if BOTH TOML and "Light On" go Platinum sometime in December!! I have bought 3 TOML's... my original itunes download, a gifted itunes, and an amazon MP3 download at work.

I agree with that sentiment Scott. I would love TOML to get platinum while at the same time LO soars in all categories and sells mega. I am that greedy that I want it all.

I still think platinum on TOML is important.

First of all, AI is still the biggest show on television and every season they talk about the numbers.

Multiple times every season Clay and Kellie get mentioned over and over again, on AI and in the media, because of the success of their AI songs, even though both of them have had plenty of songs to talk about since then.

When it comes to AI stars, the press / media tends to go back to the first song, even 3 albums later. I don't understand it, but they do. They also mention the record holders for the categories every season. I wanna hear Cook's name!

Secondly, if Crush goes platinum and TOML doesn't, until Cook does go platinum, the media will constantly compare Cook downwards to Archie. Archie seems like a very nice guy, but that would bug me like crazy!

Yes, a platinum CD is more important, but I am still praying for TOML to have wings to fly for at least 8 more weeks. If it goes platinum BEFORE the album drops, it will be so cool, because the news and entertainment writers will all be adding on that he is has already sold platinum with TOML and that TOML is the best selling coronation song ever in their articles about him.

As glad as I am that this song has done as well as it has, I am honestly ready to hear the new single. Don't get me wrong, TOML is a great song with a great story behind it but when it comes to the issue of TOML vs. Crush, I don't see there being any competition as such. As far as I'm concerned, the competition is over. It ended on May 21st. I know the media likes to keep stirring it up, but I don't think it's something we should sit and worry over. If TOML doesn't go platinum, that's ok as far as I'm concerned. If it goes platinum, then great, if not, then that's ok too. This song has done better than anyone would have imagined. I don't even think David himself thought it would do this well. I am very proud of David for what he was able to do with TOML, but I would much rather see the new single go platinum. What I think is really important is more so how well the next single does and how well the CD sells and not how well TOML does.

Platinum will come! You don't even have to think about it. eh! i'm an optimistic one. Plus, it would help advertise David has the guy who has that Billboard score and a platinum song.

And I think Light On could actually help TOML.

Safe to assume TOML will be back to #1 on AC right?
