This is really odd. On the top 40 side, the chart is showing basically what it showed yesterday morning. No change.

No spin increase this afternoon, but apparently at least one or two songs must have gone recurrent at pop because LO has moved up 2 from #36 to #34 this afternoon.

Yes, TOML is seeing spin loss but when you consider that the song has been #1 for what about 7 weeks now? It's still not doing badly at all. It's still #1 on the AC chart which is a good thing. Coldplay's Viva La Vida is #2 with 1338 spins and it's quickly losing spins too. It was bound to happen at some point.

It seems longer than 7 weeks being #1 to me for some reason biggrin.gif A lot of those AC stations have already gone 24/7 Xmas, so that could account for some spin loss. I know that the AC channel in Philly, B101 (WBEB) has already gone Xmas.

That's true of the Kansas City AC station (KUDL) that was playing both TOML and LO, as well. They went to 24/7 Christmas music around November 5. They have done this for several years now. I think that all of the songs on AC are seeing spin loss because of this seasonal shift in programming.

Exactly what I was going to post. If you look at the AC Mediabase chart, all the Top 20 songs on the AC chart are showing huge decreases except for Leona Lewis with the holiday songs all showing big increases. Most AC stations switch over to holiday programming around this time of year so a couple of weeks from now, the AC chart will be completely covered with snow and good cheer and all that. It does not spell the ending of TOML at the top - it's just taking a seasonal break. Come January, I'm sure we'll see it return to the top or close to it. AC is on a much slower timetable that the other formats, less volatile - except during the holidays.

No one is a dunce here. smile.gif That link you just posted was from the quick cut info chart which gives you the audience impression for all the different formats combined and gives you a breakdown of the spins for each format. What I am giving you is separating the spins by each format. I can't post spins for AC for LO because the song doesn't have enough spins and isn't high enough on All Access's Mediabase chart for me to post it. They only show the top 50 in each format represented there. smile.gif

Wow, LO is 13 on HAC now! Well done!
I think TOML will hold onto #1 on AC through the Holidays. With most AC stations all Christmas music, I don't see any other adds or big movements up by other songs. The big question, will TOML hold on to #1 for the first week or two of '09? If so I think it will be one for the record books by then. David is already the only male artist to reach #1, much less hold onto it, on AC this year.

I would love for LO to hit the top 10 on Top 40... even if it's just 8, 9 or 10... because the repeat spins for all top 10 are huge.

what are the figures next to TMOL(number2)? are they close to each other? is TOML decreasing while the other is climbing or both decreasing?

Everything on AC that is not Christmas is decreasing. Some stuff has moved up but that's only because the songs in front of them are falling at a higher rate. I don't see anything on AC taking over that #1 spot until it becomes full-time Christmas season there. Even with that taken into consideration, I don't think David will fall far enough on the chart to go into recurrent status. Viva La Vida is #2 on AC and is falling at a slightly lower rate than TOML but they still have 100
spins between them.

My extremely unprofessional, self-educated reading of the other charts tells me that he has a bit of a ceiling to climb to break into the Top 10 on HAC and the Top 30 on Top 40. On Top 40 Archie and X-Tina are sinking really fast, but they still have a long way to fall until LO is able to pass them on the charts. And of course, Christmas music could screw up most of this.
