Hey! I am Kathy from FL, 49 years old, mom of 3 grown and grandma to one 2 year old and I just LOVE David Cook. He was my first choice from the auditions and I have voted like crazy for him ever since! Just wanted to say hi and hope to meet some other people in here. Where do you all get those great graphics/signatures I see? I wish I could make that kind of thing, they are awesome! Wasn't David and all the idol peformers great to see on Larry King Tonight? David is so humble and gracious! What a caring guy! I felt so bad for him last night, on Leno, he said he had only had one hour of sleep in like two days!

Go Word nerds!

We LOVE you David!!!

Hi - Well...just wanted to say - I had to laugh when I read a news piece that said that a lot of "older" women liked David (so old they could be his mother) Hah - I am old enuf to be his grandmother (61)- how about that?!! After seeing him on Larry King, I realize he is very intelligent and has a great sense of humor - You can tell he has empathy too - that's what makes his songs so meaningful. I hope his album is as great as all the songs from the show. Unfortunately, the tour isn't coming to my town (colorado)or I would go - Anyway everone I know think I am crazy to be an American Idol fan ! Good luck to him. I am not computer literate but felt like saying something about him to someone. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here - so all my best to another Cookie fan!!! Kathleen

Hello from Word Nerd #1177!! I'm 53, mother of 2 girls and one grandson. I've been following DC on the Idol forums and now jumping over here. I learned of this site from the forum there ... wondering how many other wordnerds have migrated to the dave-cook.org site. I love this site, it's absolutely great with everything about DC and more under "one roof". Wish I would have been logging in here a lot sooner, but glad to be here, nonetheless. Oh, and did I mention that I have an obsession with dc? I hardly get anything done after work because i can't wait to get on the site to view new videos following him around the country. I love love love his voice, his artistry, passion, and heart are unsurpassed!

Hello,
I'm a 33 yo female from Florida...and until now I have never been a member of a fanclub...but I have just really been into this show this year. I never really got into watching American Idol much before.
I just recognized David's talent at the beginning of the show...and I am so glad he won...he truly deserves it!

And I am so glad that Simon was proved wrong...I think he is jealous of David in some way...it is just strange the way he has said rude, totally uncalled for things, and then has tried to apologize and say good things>>??>>

It's like Simon is stumped by David. He can't just let it be what it is...honest, pure, beautiful expression.

And it shows that Simon may not be the great judge of talent that he thinks he is.

Kathleen here, 44, from the Chicago burbs - and I am all over this! David is truly a champion and I am looking forward to his solo album.

44 yr old single mom (15yo son) and my mom (71) lives with us; wouldn't you know she cried when Archie lost, but she is a closet Cookie fan!

I wonder if Cookie knows how INVESTED we are all in him :-) I predict he will not only outsell Daughtry, but Carrie Underwood too (yes, I said it)! and I truly believe it.

Glad to be here to connect with other "Cougars" amd all other Cookies and Word Nerds, and NO, we are NOT crazy!!!

Actually, a clip on Larry King Live last night showed the judges giving their opinions, and Simon said months ago, that David Cook is his personal preference for the type of music that he likes, but that he thought Archie would win because of all of the teeny boppers and grandmas voting... :-)

Don't know about the Carrie part - but he will definitly outsell every other Idol and He'll give her a run. This music, as great as it it, isn't as strong as the country audience. I voted every week (txt and phone) and am so happy to see him win. BTW I'm a 32 yr old Male if that counts as older!! smile.gif

Hi!

WN#1829 here to formally introduce myself. I fall into that "older" Cougar category! I am 43 yrs. young and married with two kids (11 & 6). I am from Southern California and a very proud David Cook fan! I, along with you all, have been supporting DC from the beginning. I never thought I would spend 4 hours of my time voting for someone by phone! :-)

Anyway, I'm in this for the long haul. It seems as though David Cook is going to bring something very special to the music industry and to the lives of many people in general. Can't wait to see what happens next!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Take care,
Toni Ziska

All Cougars are welcomed to stop by my blog that you "mature" DC fans would enjoy. :-)

Hey Kathleen! I met another lady on the idol forums who is 73!!! My family thinks I am a little off the wall too LOL but I don't care. I love his music and have a ton of respect for him as he is one awesome person! Sorry the tour isn't coming near you! Maybe they will add some more shows and end up coming somewhere near you!

I'm a Cougar, proud to be a Cook fan. My grown kids have no idea, but I have come out of the Cookie closet to my husband, who seems to get a kick out it! I've never voted before, but this past week voted until my fingers practically turned into stubs. I'm so glad to have found this site, since I enjoyed everyone at the American Idol site, and worried where I'd go to keep feeding my Cookie cravings!!
I wonder if David is aware of the huge Cougar following he has--has anyone heard if he does?

This is my first time joining a site as well. I am a 42 year mother of a toddler (who also runs around the house yelling "David Cook"). Glad I found all of you, as I am sure everyone else in my life will certainly get tired of hearing me talking about/listening to/watching AI reruns on my DVR all for the love of DC. He is truly amazing, and I look forward to tracking and enjoying his long, illustrious career. I am from Boston, but purchased tix to Providence RI to see him there. Can't wait and can't get enough!
maudlin tableau
I am having to show a great deal of restraint because I really want to totally ocd out and watch his vids over and over. The rest of the family is going to Indiana Jones tomorrow, but I elected to stay home and "clean". If they only knew I was planning to rewatch the Finale for the 3rd time...LOL

Hello all! I'm a 58 year old who luckily got to attend the AI finale at the Nokia Theater. I considered taking a sign that read "Old Ladies Gone Wild" for David Cook. Loved him from the start! I've been an American Idol fan since season one, but stopped voting at the end of season two until I started dialing again for David. I must have voted 500 times the last night. Good luck to David - I am looking forward to seeing great things from him.

49 years. I grew up on the kind of music David sings, and I hope he's bringing it back. I miss really good, edgy ROCK!! Oh yeah, and what a hottie.

Hey, J!!! How do you pronounce your name?

Anyways - A HUGE WARM HELLO to all you girls at heart here!

I'm 48 going on 25, heehee...And I'm also from the Philippines and I dig ROCK!!!

I was just a Michael Johns fan at first...but when he was voted out, I also became a Cookie!!! Yeah, dudes & babes, DC is indeed TRES HOT!!!

Aside from the live satellite feed, I've seen replays of the Top 2 performance night and the finale at least four times, I think (lol). I'm actually suffering from withdrawal and have been channel surfing, hoping to get some news on DC. Other than Larry King, there was no other show I saw him on. :-( So, I'm back online to seek some news on him...

Very glad to see other Cookies on here! THANKS & KUDOS to the admins of this great-looking site!!! YAAAYYY!!!

Cookie Cougar? Is that some reference to an older woman in her second adolescence due to the COOK PHENOMENON? If so, I want a number cuz it has surely happened to me! I'm not what you'd call a Word Nerd, although I do appreciate proper grammar, platitudenous ponderosity isn't my thing! so if I could just get a number to be a Cookie Cougar I'd be fine with that! what's the "cougar" supposed to designate?? Hello...I'm a 46 year old Mom and huge fan of Cookie. I voted for him all season and am blown away by his talent! Not only does he have a beautiful voice, but he comes across as an extremely decent human being. I think he has a huge career ahead of him! I just discovered this site so thought I'd join in. My 17-year old daughter also loves Cookie and wants him as her future husband...lol.

This looks like a great site -- I can't wait to look around more. Thanks for having me!

Hi everyone! I'm a 41 year old married mom of a 2 year old and I was a Cookie from the beginning. I have a soft spot for Bon Jovi (and Richie Sambora) since I saw them open for 38 Special in Pittsburgh in 1986. So when he sang it during auditions, I was so impressed with his voice. As the season went on, he only got better with his unique spin on songs, his voice, and his ever better stage presence. I cannot wait to buy his CD!

Also, I agree with you . . . I told my husband that I think he will outsell Daughtry and even Carrie herself and we're huge fans of both!

Cougar is the term used for an older woman attracted to younger men....its been around for awhile. I even read that during this season, the security at Idol used Cougar as part of a code name for Paula, as they worked hard all season to keep her away from the boys, to prevent any scandal from errupting this year. There aren't any numbers for us Cougars, but you can get your Word Nerd number and name on the board over at the American Idol site. I've got my number, and am waiting for my name assignment.

Well, I have to admit to being 53, and male! How weird does that make me around here? But I gotta tell you, this kid has fired me up like I was a teenager. David is a brilliant, versatile talent and I look forward to his first CD and what I'm sure will be an awesome career. Also, I really think the greatest asset he may possess is his intelligence. You hear it in his interviews and you hear it in his music. I'm glad Paula mentioned it after Billie Jean, because his smarts will make a huge difference in how he handles fame and what material he chooses in the future. My family and I are so glad he won Idol, I truly believe he will be the greatest graduate of that show ever.

Also, thanks to this great site, we can keep up with David's plans.

Oh I LOVE that !!! Cookie Cougar!!!! Its so nice to read all of your posts in here! Its great we have found each other. I know I am getting read to go watch Larry King again for the second time ! They are rerunning it tonight! Then tomorrow night again a new one with all the idols. While I am watching that I am downloading videos off You Tube of all of David's performances to put on my Zen player! LOL. Cookie Crazy!

Did any of you get to watch David's homecoming on his hometown fox station when the last three idols went home? they live streamed video the entire day! They have clips on the site still. There was a lady that came from 1,000 miles away just to meet him and be a part of it and she was in her 40s. She was outside the Fox news station waiting for David to arrive at like 4 AM!!!! She did get to meet him that morning too ! LOL. So there are lots of us out there! He is just AWESOME!

Nice to meet you all!

Speaking of mothers (bet your toddler keeps you REALLY busy), you know, David's mother looks like a really nice person - he represents his family well. They all must be very proud. I think he's definitely got a little rascal side too -probably he and his friends have had really good times!! Ah well ...brings back memories ....My favorite idol was alway Kelly - still think she is real - but didn't like the direction her music took - Cook definitely can do the rock as well as the smooth - hope he creates his own memorable music and does them as well as he can do the others!! Enjoy the concert!

So I'm not a freak? How reassuring. I am a 38 yo female, cannot abide American Idol (sorry), but got turned on to David Cook by my 70 year old mother. Now I am hooked. I just hope the album comes out soon so I can get off youtube already.

Hi, I'm 55 and I live about 15 miles (or less) from Blue Springs; I work in Independence, MO - about another 20 miles or so (these are as the crow flies) the other direction from Blue Springs, where David went to school. By coincidence only, my boss is an attorney whose name happens to be David H. Cook! I hope there is a CD put out with all of the David Cook AI music on it. Such a talented young man. I would like to tell David just stay humble and honest and be good and generous to your (his) secretary.

PS...anyone making avatars and/or banners? I'm not that talented, but I'd love to have one!

HI! There are a couple of nice ladies, Sarah and Bianca, that I hear make banners for people. I haven't asked for one yet, trying to decide what I might want, but here is the link to the thread to ask them for a banner. How nice of them to do that for people isn't it?

Hello my name is Karen and I'm a Cookie Cougar! (Sounds like some 12-step program....Yeah I'm addicted! biggrin.gif) Anyway, just turned 50, divorced mother of 2 boys, and not afraid to obsess openly about David C. My family and friends already think I'm a bit mad because I'm a HUGE fan of the Killers and have been obsessing about Brandon Flowers for the past 4 years, so my infatuation with David comes as no big surprise to them!! I was never a fan of Idol in the past, was always too "pop-y" for my taste, but I was hooked the first time I saw and heard David sing. He has such a beautiful voice AND a beautiful face!! Anyway, can't wait to see what David has in store for us, I'm sure it will be brillant!!

I thought your screenname -- 1992 -- meant your birth year and thought "if that's the age of DC's older fans, I'll have to start a thread for ancient cookie lovers!"

I can tell already that I'm going to need to start a DC fund -- that's the joy of being old and having discretionary income. I'll follow him everywhere he goes.

Love HIM!

Hey bioguy! WELCOME to the site! I'm also new here...I've watched several replays of the Pre-Finale and Finale and when they were both aired again last night, it just hit stupid me to capture my favorite moments via my digital camera, as my VCR's busted. Those should sustain me for now, along with my almost-daily fix with this site. *weg*

Does anyone know where I can get more decent VCDs of at least the last 2 nights of AI? Perhaps, I'll just write Star World which aired the show here in Manila.

Jumping over after lurking on the AI message boards - saw this site & had to register! 52 y.o. mom of a 17 year old son, who thinks I'm crazy & obsessive over DC, as many of you have also stated..........nice to know I'm not alone. I'll be following David's progress as he moves into what will be a fantastic career. Let's face it, ladies, he's one red hot lava bomb, and just because we're older doesn't mean we can't still have a fire in the furnace for what has clearly gotten us all fired up, if you know what I mean !! !!!

I'm a 33 year old from Florida. Don;t know if that qualifies as older, but I'm definitely not a teen lol. Single male. HUGE music fan. Die Hard Gator Alum. And ... a Word Nerd (literally - was an English Major).

Word Nerd #1363

Hey Revolver! I was also an English major and have friends your age. I'm also a member of another fansite.
Great to know DC also appeals to men.

I was having this conversation with my sister and I said DC would outsell DA coz DC would also have a male following, whereas DA would have a mostly female fanbase. tongue.gif

Hey, wheelerlgn! WELCOME! I just discovered and joined this site last Friday/Saturday, as I was looking for a fix for my DC addiction. I miss the show coz of DC and I'm suffering from major withdrawal.

HI EVERYONE, I AM GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY OLDSTER OUT HERE WHO IS CRAZY FOR DAVID COOK.. I WAS FEELING LIKE A LOONEY CASE, BUT THEN I GOT TO THINKING I AM OLDER (55) BUT HECK I AM NOT DEAD YET AND DAVID COOK ABSOLUTELY ROCKS. HE IS SO SINCERE AND DOWN TO EARTH. YOU CANT HELP BUT LIKE HIM.. HE DEFINITLY WILL BE AROUND FOR THE LONG HALL.

Thanks Kathy for the warm welcome. I haven't been on a site like this for a long time, but it's very exciting to meet other Cook fans and check out what David is up to. Bet he could use a nice long rest before taking on the tour. I recall hearing last year that sales were sluggish for the AI tour tickets, but I guarantee you that won't happen this summer. I know three people that are going just to see Mr. Cook, although there will be plenty of talent with him--Archie has lots of rabid fans too after all.

I really sense we are witnessing the birth of a great authentic star here with David like we haven't seen for years.

Hi Christopher, its so nice to meet you! I don't think the sales will be so sluggish this year. I was looking at tickets pre finale and there were some good seats. I waited too long. Post finale and David's win, they were snatched up! Just some way upper level seats left too close to the side of the stage. I did end up getting some on ebay, good seats for a pretty decent price. I bet they will sell out in a lot of places.

David is so talented, but he is also so humble and so caring. I bet he is worn completely out, they have had him doing one interview after another. If I heard Jay Leno correctly, David is performing in Las Vegas somewhere over the weekend. He seems to have a pretty full schedule of interviews from various morning shows and another Larry King appearance.

Are you and your family going to one of the Idol shows?

Here are links to some Access Hollywood interviews and a performance David did.

if copy and paste on these doesn't work for you, go to http://video.accesshollywood.com/player/?id=0 and put in the search "David Cook" and a list on the right side of the page of all of the David videos will come up. I put them all in a bulletin on Myspace and the links worked fine, but they don't seem to be working in here!

UK Music Fan
Well my daughter is the same age as David so I guess that makes me old laugh.gif .
Having been a 70's chick, I hit 13 years old in 1970 wink.gif I grew up with all sorts of music. The criteria back then was singing LIVE, playing real music and musicians actually enjoying it !!. Music still rules my life, I'm mostly into Motown and soul, blues, rock.........well almost all music which has melody, lyrics and says something !!
That's why David appealed to me when I heard him sing (I liked Chikeze too - he soooo reminded me vocally of Luther Vandross)he's a REAL singer and a REAL musician!!
I was pleased to hear him say in an interview that he too likes most music.....yea.......Boyz II Men amongst the list............he could sing ANY genre he's THAT good !!
Hi acoustic performances at his homecoming were just amazing !! cool.gif
LOVED his performance with ZZ Top and the fact that they gave him the whole of the lead vocal.........not just background harmonies............and boy did he rock it, looked so at home and relaxed !!
