Aww, I'm not sure if it's the same and all.

I'm using Photoshop CS 2

And the way I blend is using the layer mask. You enable it, and then you use the paint brush tool to "erase" the area. The great thing about it is that if you made a mistake, you just invert your default your background & foreground colors.
