I am almost perfectly bilingual, so if you would like to express yourself in French, please go ahead. If everyone else doesn't understand, we can certainly translate.

Puce31
Well I'm ok in english too. English is a big part of my life (music, radio, TV, internet). I was just wondering if there was other people like me loll It's just that sometimes it's hard to really explain what you're feeling when you don't really know how to say it in english...

I'm determined to find a way to go to the Tacoma concert on July 12th.

hello fellow Canadians

Lyndsey, I have actually heard him say this in a variety of ways. He hasn't said he just wants it his way. What he said on a lot of the shows is that he wants to make a record he can be proud of and that will stand the test of time, and that selling records is not his priority, but he hopes that when the record is released, if he is allowed to contribute to it, it will "make the hair in back of your neck stand up".
He is an artist who isn't afraid to speak his mind. As an artist, his priority is putting out quality things, and I am pretty sure the producers of AI were aware of that before he won, and they still wanted him to win the thing.
He has never appeared like he doesn't care, and I doubt that his record label would drop him for wanting to make a really good record that everyone who loves his music will want to buy.
He seems like a super nice guy and I can't imagine being rude or abrupt. He's also not a little kid ... he's an adult who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to ask for it. It's the reason we support him and it's probably the reason why he'll end up selling more records than the rest of the idols.

Hoep that clears things up and makes you feel better ... have a good day.

biggrin.gif

hahaha thanks for that
well it was my mom telling me... and she doesn't really like him dry.gif
i'm sure she just wanted to make him look bad. ppfft.

and puce31, i can almost speak fluent french, i mean english is my first language, but being in school and living in a french province, they sort of force it upon us haha.

I'm driving 5 hours one way, and 5 the other, so I could stay for one complete day ... it's a bit nuts, but since there's no montreal stop, they left me no other choice. maybe you can make it ... I know gas is a little expensive now, but David's worth it, I think smile.gif

biggrin.gif

I think it would be worth it too. Who knows, I still might be able to get some money up for going. The only problem is I'm not sure if I would have my full licence by then, and I don't have anyone who would want to go with me otherwise. D: We'll see though biggrin.gif

That's the plan, Canadian Cookie ... that's why we need to show him a lot of love in Toronto.

Puce, please feel free to share with us your feelings and I will gladly do the translation, if I need to. I know that it's hard with another language that's not your mother tongue. smile.gif

Well, that explains the interpretation, then ... wink.gif

Word nerd, I'd like to welcome you on behalf of the rest of the Canadian word nerds ...

And Lily, I hope you can get the funds to make it to Toronto, but if you don't, believe me, we will show David so much love that he won't be able to resist coming back to Canada and seeing even more of our wonderful country. So, I'm quite sure there will be plenty of chances.

Good night all!

Yeah probably! But you know it's like that for me too but with english. I took so many english class at school, I even went to an english college for a while (which was funny cuz people were talking to me or asking me question but I couldn't answer them! loll)

I really hope that DC will love Canads cuz he absolutly need to come back when it's gonna be time for his own tour!

Hey all ... wanted to share something cool with you.

I just ordered dog tags online ... I engraved them with my word nerd # and David Cook rocks my world!
Isn't that awesome. They were cheap, too ... 10.99$US (including shipping). I bought them at www.semperfiwives.com
I should have them in a couple of weeks.

It would be cool if we all started wearing them, don't you think? Would certainly make an impression.

Hope you're all having a super day!

biggrin.gif

vickih
Not sure if the AI tour was coming to Montreal, I would actually go see it.
He is the only one I liked and David A, but seeing all of them would be blah.

Now if Cook comes here for a solo appearance which I can totally see him doing, then damn straight I'm going!

I agree that his show here will be amazing, vickih.

Wishing you all a super weekend. We've had an awesome week full of David and I fear some may be going through withdrawal next week (myself included).

Ah, well, thanks to youtube, we can watch him over and over again.

Have a good one everyone ...

Cheerio,

P.S. Don't forget about those dog tags

Is anyone going to the show in Toronto? I'm annoyed that no one ever comes to Montreal. We are a pretty big city and people love us, and yet Toronto is always the only stop. Sucks sad.gif

I thought about going to Toronto. I'm outside of Halifax. We got Bob Dylan (the night of the finale, even!) and some other interesting names both old and new, but I dunno if we'll ever see DC down here. I might have to get a passport and go to Rhode Island, or something!

Might be worth a trip to the passport office ... and I know how you feel. We get quite a few people coming here and still, many choose to stop at the Ontario border. I can imagine Halifax is even worse.
Go get your passport and seeing DC Live ... I guarantee you it'll be worth the trip

Hi Everyone!!

So great to see so many of us CANADIANS here!! biggrin.gif

I am in the Maritimes, Fredericton NB to be exact... smile.gif

I wasn't even aware this group thread even exhisted--AWESOME TO SEE!!

I also had no idea the AI Tour is coming to Canada this time around!! Sweet!! biggrin.gif

Most likely, we'll see DC and company appear on Canadian Idol as they have in the past seasons!!

I would give anything to be able to go see the show live...but like most eveyone here, I am hoping there will be a DC Canadian Tour once he's fully established and doing his own thing...!!!

Hopefully he will be playing close enough for me to go to the show...

Time will tell and there is soooooo much to look forward to!!

Welcome to our little group.

I am also hoping for a little appearance on Canadian Idol. It would be awesome to see DC on a Canadian stage.

I am quite sure that he would come to Canada for his tour, but we are going to do our best to show him our love in Toronto so we can guarantee that he does a cross-country tour. Hope you'll be able to see him near you.

WOW!! You live in PEI!! I LOVE PEI!! Especially in the summer! Whereabouts do you live? Good thing I live in New Brunswick so it's not a far trip!! The beaches there are just gorgeous! I have stayed in Cavendish and in Charlottetown and have visited just about the entire island!

Maybe if DC does a Cross-Canada Tour in the future, he'll want to go to the island!! Wouldn't that be SWEET?!?!

I would definitely make the trip over to see him!! All the more reason to LOVE PEI!!

You're in NB!! Wow!

I'm in Charlottetown....I'll be heading over later this month for the weekend. I lived in Moncton going to school several years ago, but that's about my total experience with NB. Not including Moncton runs for canned pop, that is! laugh.gif

Oh, and camping in Fundy - with the bears. Yeah. Fun. Somewhat unexpected! huh.gif

Yes, indeedy, PEI rocks. I've seen Our Lady Peace, Big Wreck, Blue Rodeo, Big Sugar, the Hip, Hedley, Nickelback, Wide Mouth Mason and Econoline Crush all here in Charlottetown over the years. Not bad, yeah? Even Great Big Sea, back before they sold out...laugh.gif

For being so small, we can pull them in...

And it's finally starting to be sunny! yay!

And DC in Charlottetown?! I might 'plode. Messy, I'm assuming!

From your lips to God's ears, my dear!

Looks like we're 'East Heavy' here so I'll try and even it out a lil bit by representing the West. I live in the very northwest of BC right on the Pacific ocean ..3 hour drive from Alaska ..and Vancouver is a 17 hour drive south ..so yeah, that's very NORTH ...

...While I *have* been known to hop on a plane specifically for concert purposes in Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and New York City, I have chosen to forego the Idols tour and hold out for when David tours as a headliner ...and then it nearly doesn't matter where I have to travel to because I know it'll be worth it. And at the risk of my bank account freezing me out, I'll be going to as many shows as possible, cos you know once just isn't gonna be enough -- ideally if he started in the East and worked his way West would be best for me, but I won't be picky wink.gif

If he watches the charts at ALL, he'd see that his singles are doing better here in Canada than in the US. Out of, I think the 12 that were on the chart, only TWO had higher positions in the States than here. I found it ironic cause he's the AMERICAN Idol but CANADIANS are giving/getting him tons of exposure here. He must have a lengthy Canadian tour-leg when he hits the road ..we adore him here, you can't ignore the numbers!!

I haven't been that far northwest in BC yet, I believe the closest I got was Quesnel... which isn't really that close.
I guess with a population of 9,000 you kinda have to go with the flow. Do you ever go on road trips?
Kyna
Usually once or twice a year, yeah!! You nearly get cabin fever in a place like this ...one road in, one road out ...it's the same damn road!! LOL! So for one's own sanity, trips out of town are a necessity (well, when one has wanderlust, such as myself ...)

I started really travelling 10 years ago when I was 21 and I went to South Africa for 2.5 months. Then little trips eastward to Saskatchewan ...my family is from Regina. I've done a couple trips to Calgary and Jasper ...also Vancouver Island. Last year I went to Toronto, Montreal and New York City (always end up in Vancouver on these trips ..dunno why *smirks*) Hey, go big or stay home wink.gif

I have to say, I live in Montreal, and I feel like I get cabin fever sometimes, too ... I think I just need a change of scenery at times. I just need to get out, see something new and experience something different. Even if it's just a weekend to Toronto ... anything.

Kyna
I absolutely LOVED Montreal when I was there! I wasn't there for long, basically a 2-night stopover to take in a concert, but it was still awesome! I only had two small experiences which I didn't like (one was with the hotel restaurant and the other was with the taxi driver on the way back to the airport ..) I had a HUGE fiasco once I got to the airport (first, almost didn't make it home because they'd given my seat away ...and THEN there were problems with the plane which caused a 2 hour delay while parts were flown in from Toronto -- which in turn caused me to miss my connector home from Vancouver so ended up spending the night in Van -- on Air Canada's expense ..heh) But the city itself I loved! We walked all over downtown Montreal, went into all the little shops (we didn't even dare to LOOK in the designer shop windows for fear they'd charge us just for looking ..LOL ..) The food was great (and we had one specifically AWESOME, very cute waiter at the place we went to after the concert ..they even kept the joint open for us for an hour and a half after closing because they said we were so much fun to have in there ..lol) the entertainment was awesome, the hotel was really nice and the weather cooperated ...couldn't have asked for a better time!

Vancouver Island... cool! That's where I grew up (well, more specifically, Victoria). Where on VI did you go?
