Hey all,
I noticed we didn't have our own section so I wanted to invite everyone to share their thoughts, news and whatever they'd like about our amazing David.

Nice to meet you all ...

Deena
Canadian Cookie
Hellooo!!! I love the idea of a Canadian section smile.gif

Hmmm, let's see. My thoughts are.... David is amazing.
My news is.... David is amazing.

I think I brought up some pretty valid points, anyone care to discuss?

No, but seriously. I love that there are way more Canadians on here now then there were when I joined. I seriously felt like the only one mellow.gif

I love Canadians smile.gif

~Laura
lyndsey
when i joined i'm pretty sure there was me, and like, 2 other canadians.
charmed7202
Your point is valid and I love the idea of discussing how amazing David is ... that can continue for ages.

Yeah, I imagine there are a lot of DC Canadian fans. There were 3.5 million viewers on CTV Wednesday night, so it's pretty popular up here, too. I know that no one I know was an Archy fan. We were supporting Cookie all the way, albeit in a mental, spiritual, hypothetical kind of support, since we're not allowed to vote.

Did anyone watch the Larry King show Friday? I thought it was amazing. I can't believe how intelligent David is ... I mean, I knew he was, but to hear him talking is really something. And the Leno appearance was hilarious.

Is anyone going to the show in Toronto? I'm annoyed that no one ever comes to Montreal. We are a pretty big city and people love us, and yet Toronto is always the only stop. Sucks sad.gif

Canadian Cookie
I am definitely what you call a mental, spiritual, hypothetical supporter of David.

I did see LKL on Friday. Good interview, I'm looking forward to Monday's interview.

I know what you mean about the only tour stop being Toronto. I live in Vancouver and we're always chosen 3rd (after Montreal and Toronto). But at least we're chosen mellow.gif
charmed7202
True, we are eventually chosen ... that's gotta count for something. In either case, I'm hoping for a stop in both our lovely cities once he has his own full-fledged tour. I'd love to see the Idols Live tour, but I think it might frustrate me that David probably only end up singing a couple of songs. Prefer to wait for him to sing for a few hours instead ... smile.gif

Monday's show should be a good one. He'll be singing and taking questions from people. I sent mine in, although the odds of it actually being picked is slim to none, you won't know unless you try, right?
And did you see that he'll be on Ellen on Tuesday now, instead of Wednesday. That'll make 2 appearance on Tuesday ... Regis & Kelly and Ellen ... that's good, because I thought I'd be going through withdrawal this week.

I'm definitely looking forward to him going on tour to promote his album that he hasn't even really started working on... haha. Maybe I'm thinking to prematurely, or maybe I'm planning for the future!
Regardless, I'll go see him if all he does is walk briskly by me. As long as I get to *hi 5* him along the way, I'm good.
Haha.. I'm a regular ol' nut job! blink.gif

I didn't know he was singing on LKL tomorrow. That's awesome.
I sent in a question to Larry King as well, and you're right .. you never know. But I'm definitely not holding my breath waiting for my question to be answered.
You'd probably have a better chance sending in a question for one of the other 9 idols to answer.

I knew about the Ellen situation because I watched her show on Friday and they advertised him as being on the show on Tuesday. Not too sure where the whole Wednesday thing came into play.
Thanks for the heads up anyways.
Should be a good week for DC watching wink.gif

Where are you from?
Sarawr
Hey i'm another Canadian fan smile.gif I'm going to the concert in T.O because I live not too far from there. I'm really excited to see the Larry King on Monday. Unfortunately I'll miss the Regis and Kelly show cause I'll be at school...or I'll just stay home wink.gif It'd be a good reason. I'll catch the second Ellen show when I get home I guess smile.gif

P.S What questions did you guys send in?

same place as you, actually tongue.gif
charmed7202
Lyndsey ... good to have another Montrealer here ... felt like I was alone there for a while smile.gif

Sarawr ... I am SO jealous that you're going to the show. I can't wait to see him live. I asked a question about a Canadian tour. I figured they might want to put in a question from someone not from the USA so I'd have a better chance of being chosen, but it's still a really long longshot. Ah well ... can't hurt.

Just saw a repeat of the LKL episode tonight ... caught the ending of it but had to watch. I love it when they ask who would be the class brain and they all automatically point to David. He's talented, gorgeous and really intelligent ... the total package.

Off to bed ... speak to you all tomorrow.

Oh, and I'm working Tuesday but will be taping all the programs ... maybe you should tape R & K as well, Sarawr. I wouldn't want you to miss a minute of David.

I didn't ask a question. What question did you ask?
Sarawr
I didn't ask a question either tongue.gif I don't really have any! And I'll definitely tape R&K...and then watch it like 70 times. And I'll be sure to take lots of pictures of the concert and post them for everyone. Ahh July is too far away!!!!!

charmed7202
I just did something crazy smile.gif I booked tickets for the show in Toronto. I pretty much prepared the whole trip. it'll be a road trip with myself and girlfriend of mine. I can't wait! Less than 2 months to go. Awesome!
Sarawr
Awesome! I'm going with my friend, my mom and my grandma. Maybe we'll all see each other tongue.gif We should wear a bright colour haha
ande
hello...i will be at the Toronto show also!..row 24
vmarsgirl
Hello other Canadian Cook fans *waves*

Is anyone else going to the Idols Live tour at the ACC in Toronto?
charmed7202
Ande! Row24! Lucky girl ... I got not so great seats, but I'll be there and that's what counts.

We should try to all meet for supper that night. We could probably arrange something. It would be great to meet the Canadian section of David's fans! I'm thinking a couple of signs saying "Canada Loves DC" would be good, but not from me, cause I don't think he'll be able to see them way up there smile.gif

I am so excited. I started out the day depressed cause of the crappy weather, and now I'm in a super mood.

Cheerio all ... and enjoy LKL tonight

biggrin.gif
charmed7202
Made this up:

60$ for tickets to the show
100$ for the hotel
50$ for gas
100$ for food
Seeing David Cook live for the first time: PRICELESS!

I thought it was pretty good biggrin.gif
lyndsey
ahh you're all making me so jealous
i wanna go sad.gif

but unfortunately i have no one to go with/no way of getting there
charmed7202
LKL was awesome, although it wasn't live ... was taped from Friday.

Has anyone else noticed that when David talks, everyone just stops and listens to him? Now that's power ...

And it was so cute when he got red talking about Kimberly ... although I think he needs to be a bit more private about his personal life. Ah, well ... he'll learn. They make a cute couple, though. She is really pretty.

At least Canada got one question in, from Ottawa ... not too bad.

And how funny is Michael Johns?

Hi everyone! Although I am not Canadian, I live on the US border just South of Vancouver. Canadian music has always been a fav with me. biggrin.gif

A bunch of us were talking in another forum about David's musical influences and taste in music. David has a lot of Canadian faves, including OLP and Big Wreck. This being said, I truly believe that he will tour Canada when he gets his album completed. biggrin.gif

Since it is easier for me to travel to Vancouver than Seattle, I certainly hope that DC stops there.

Either way, it will be an amazing show for sure!

I realized that ... and he seemed SO excited to see Bryan Adams, too. I'm thrilled about that ... seeing him touring Canada will be awesome indeed.

Good to have you here armychick - you're close enough to the border to merit a Canadian badge smile.gif Thanks for joining our little group.

I got this from another thread, but thought I'd pass it along for everyone going to the Toronto show:

QUOTE
guys, you dont have to be part of any fan club in order to get aftershow passes. The trick is to get to the show early enough to meet with the idols before the show and strike up a conversation with them. If the opportunity arises, ask them for the passes and more often than not, they'll give them to you. Each idol has a certain amount of passes they can give out personally to people. Just make sure you ask an idol that ISN'T from the area that the concert is in, because it's likely that they'll be giving passes out to friends and family.

Apparently, this girl has done it 4 times already, and it worked, so being nice does count for something. I can see being able to get Brooke to hand out some of those passes. And Jason, too. They seem to laid back to care who they give them to. wink.gif

Well, I know what I'll be doing before the show. Let's see how many of us can manage back stage passes. Wouldn't it be awesome?????

biggrin.gif
Puce31
Hey I'm on the board for some time now but I've been really busy lately so I kinda missed that thread!

So Hi!,

I'm also from Montreal and I'm really glad to see there's other people from Montreal here!

I am actually not going to the Toronto show but I couldn't miss the chance to see our Cookie live so, since I'm already planning a trip with my friend in NY for the first week of september, we are gonna go to the Bridgeport (connecticut) show cuz it's like only 1 hour from NY! And I'm so excited!!!!
Jodie1218
Hiya Everyone!

I live about two hours from Toronto and I am going to the ACC show, section 109. Was hoping for floor but oh well. As long as I go I'm happy!
charmed7202
Hiya Jodie and Puce - welcome to our Canuck thread ... glad you're both going to see our Cookie live ... it doesn't matter where it is. We have to make our Canadian love known.

I'm 4th row in the 300s, so they suck, but I don't care ... I'll be there to experience that awesome vibe he puts out there ... if it was transferable on TV, can you imagine how awesome it must be live?

Can't wait to go home and watch Regis and Ellen ... for the first Tuesday without David, I'm glad we don't have to go cold turkey

biggrin.gif
Puce31
haha as for me, I'm on the floor, row Q (so 17), in the center! I think those will be good seats!

As for Regis and Ellen, I can't wait to see it but it's gonna be on youtube... I was messed up in my head and I thought it was yesterday and I recorded it but I didn't look at the tape last night and I didn't tape anything today... So I missed it... My bad!
dreamer
His canadian fans are waaaaaaaaaaay better than the american ones!!!

yes, i am canadian. but i do live in michigan.

but i must say, canadians are better fans in general... lol

foreign people are the best

carly+micheal=sweet immigrants =]
Jodie1218
I agree as long as we're there that's all that matters so let's let it known how much we love him and hopefully he'll make another appearance in canada!

Have any plans been made for all of us going to the Toronto show to meet up before the show?
charmed7202
Nope, no plans have been made, but we should definitely before the show ... although I'm sure we would all meet by their buses, anyway wink.gif

We'll definitely arrange something before then ... it would be great to get the whole contingent together. We are going to have so much fun!!!!

Yeah I saw that before to. And as soon as I saw it the first person I thought of getting tickets from was Brooke tongue.gif I could see Archie just giving them away to but you can bet there will be a bunch of teeny-boppers waiting around for him.

And dinner would be a cool idea. It's just my parents have a thing with me meeting people on the internet...sounds lame I know but I guess I see where they're coming from. But my mom and my grandma will be with me...and we're cook fans not creepers tongue.gif haha I'll see what I can do. I can't wait to see everyone there!

Just to let you all know, I'm 33 and might ending coming with my mom (if my friend can't make it for some reason). She is also a big fan of David's and I think would really enjoy meeting him. Parents, grandparents ... any DC fans are invited and welcomed. Creepers, as you so eloquently put it, are not ...

I think he'll be surprised to see how many fans he has up here. My intention is to make it clear to him so that when he's setting up his tour dates, he makes sure to make a few stops north of the border.

The Ellen and R&K shows were awesome. I loved that he sang "The World We Know" on Ellen instead of "Time of My Life" ... it was almost accapella ... him and a guitar (and a piano you couldn't really hear). He sounded incredible really. It's awesome what a good voice he has.

And I love how humbled he looks by all the attention. I love it! Makes him even more endearing, don't you all think?

Cheerio and good night

Hello fellow Canadian wordnerds happy.gif@@!!
Arg I wish I could go to the one in Toronto, but its like a 3 hour drive from here. That would cost a lot. : (
The idols (or David Cook) need to come to London! Lots of nice acts come to London..why can't they. !@^@%#
Oh well, hopefully once David is on tour and such, he would come closer; and to more places in Canada.

I am up for the dinner, but the time would be the issue ... if we want to go meet them before the show, I imagine we'll have to get there quite early. I'm not sure what time they would arrive, so not sure if we'll have time for the supper. I imagine we will, though ... I'm definitely up for going. As long as it doesn't get in the way of the possibility of meeting our David. Hard Rock sounds perfect. We'll get it all together before the show I'm sure.

I'm driving 5 hours one way, and 5 the other, so I could stay for one complete day ... it's a bit nuts, but since there's no montreal stop, they left me no other choice. maybe you can make it ... I know gas is a little expensive now, but David's worth it, I think smile.gif

I am usually shy but I'm so excited to meet everyone smile.gif

Wouldn't we Cookie-lovers call ourselves "biscuits" then?

Proud Canadian here, by way of Quebec and Ontario, somehow landed in the US. Blame my parents.

PS - if any fellow Biscuiteers are in the Vancouver area, I could definitely see a gathering of DCaholics Anonymous, er, I mean DC fans.

question for the montrealers:

my mom said there was an article in the gazette, or an interview with david, she couldn't remember. but she said that in the interview david said something along the lines of...
when he's making his cd, he wants his record label to let him to it his way, and that he doesn't care how many cds he sells, he just wants it done his way.
she said that with that attitude, the label will drop him cause all they care about is sails, but what really gets me is that i can't imagine him saying something like that unsure.gif

did any of you read this article?

Lyndsey, I have actually heard him say this in a variety of ways. He hasn't said he just wants it his way. What he said on a lot of the shows is that he wants to make a record he can be proud of and that will stand the test of time, and that selling records is not his priority, but he hopes that when the record is released, if he is allowed to contribute to it, it will "make the hair in back of your neck stand up".
He is an artist who isn't afraid to speak his mind. As an artist, his priority is putting out quality things, and I am pretty sure the producers of AI were aware of that before he won, and they still wanted him to win the thing.
He has never appeared like he doesn't care, and I doubt that his record label would drop him for wanting to make a really good record that everyone who loves his music will want to buy.
He seems like a super nice guy and I can't imagine being rude or abrupt. He's also not a little kid ... he's an adult who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to ask for it. It's the reason we support him and it's probably the reason why he'll end up selling more records than the rest of the idols.

Hoep that clears things up and makes you feel better ... have a good day.
