ok - I'll throw out another band that's new to me (thanks to DC) out for comment.... you guys are so knowledgeable about music... I have to admit I've been kinda living under a rock lately, music-wise... David had also mentioned Big Wreck as a musical influence. I purchased their "In Loving Memory" off of itunes and I'm loving it... Helps me get a feel for DC's taste (which is awesome, by the way!).... I know I'll love whatever he writes...

Any way - any Big Wreck fans out there? What can you tell me about them... other Cd's?

thanks

Big Wreck is awesome.
My fave cd by them is "In loving Memory" and my fave song is "That song".

Big wreck is no longer a band, not sure if you knew that or not.
They are also Canadian.... just like Our Lady Peace... i think David is fond of Canadian bands smile.gif!

Big Wrecks Lead singer "Ian Thornley" started the band THORNLEY, they have one cd out.... its been 4 or 5 years since their last cd but they keep touring so who knows whats going on with them!
I saw Thornley do a show with 3DG they were co-headlining with 3DG.
Ian was amazingly funny!

I dont know much about the history of Big Wreck but hopefully what I do know helped yah smile.gif

Ok, I'm confused. I totally thought they were Canadian too and then I checked on Wikipedia and it says that the lead singer Ian Thornley is Canadian, but the band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts. So doesn't that make them American? huh.gif

Haha, I love that this was added to the end of their bio on Wikipedia:
Hard rock band Submersed and American Idol winner David Cook have both cited the band as an influence.

Here's Big Wreck's wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_wreck

good point Canadian Cookie
however wikipedia and all other sites related to that cannot always be taken to context.

I do agree that Ian is the only canadian one... but apparently he was the one who started the band and they formed in Canada making them Canadian... It's pretty confusing... i dont get it.. Unless the other members moved to canada and they started the band as well. who knows eh.

same with Our lady peace.
When they FIRST formed, Raine changed his name from Michael to Raine (to avoid confusion), because the guy who originally started the band well him and raine started it together, they formed in Toronto since thats where the one guy Mike Turner moved from England. And raine is from toronto. they formed in Toronto so they are considered a canadian band since everyone is canadian well 3/4 ppl anyways.. Mike Turner was kicked out of the band and replaced with someone from michigan - Steve Mazur. smile.gif
hahaha a little OLP history for yah. totally irrelevant to Big Wreck I know.

I'm not sure exactly why people call Big wreck canadian in the first place so I agree.
Im just gunna go with what i initially said before that they were formed in Canada so i guess that makes them automatically a Canadian band.
But good point again.

thats cute whoever added David to their wiki page.

Haha, fun facts about OLP!
I initially thought Big Wreck was Canadian too, but I wanted to double check and when I looked on wikipedia it said otherwise, so I'm agreeing with you and saying they're Canadian.
Although if they were bad I'd say they were American..... laugh.gif j/k

I had not heard of Big Wreck before DC (it's come to this: BDC wink.gif). This is one of the reasons I'm a huge DC fan...he's exposed me to new music.
