When we were voting most of us thought he said that because he knows the fans would get upset and vote double time....and we did...it lit a fire under us.

I'm not sure it was on purpose though...Archy did have a really good night and DC paled in comparison. Simon said what he thought (as always) and I thought he was right.

Perhaps Archie had a better night, but definitely Simon's comments were over the top. Maybe he wanted to be consistent with the boxing theme, that's why he used the word knockout. But really, there could never be a knockout because it was still the public that gets to say who wins. I really thought that Simon just crossed the line when he said "lightweight" "knockout". Both words were unnecessary, and really did not describe how DC sang the songs. So I thought 7 out of 10, that Simon did it on purpose. Of course, he will never admit that, it would not be good for the credibility of AI. But whatever it was, we voted, and DC won. And did you ever think for a moment that if Simon did not say those things you would not have voted the way you did?

And the apology in the end, that was the sweetest thing he's ever done on the show. A close second was his happiness when DC won.

Simon looked crazy happy when DC won! If he did that or not, well i don't care, David won!! and will be a superstar smile.gif

i dont think so i think he liked archie better and set it up like that. i think he tried to fix it and then save himself by apologizing.

I think it was the opposite. He praised Cook on every talk show. He said repeatedly that Cook should win and was the best of the group by far, but Archie will win. So either way he was saving his ass

i'm not completely sure

as david has said, simon is a blunt and honest person who just says his opinion. i know that he wanted cookie to win, and thought he should win but he believed that archie had a better night. but i have also seen the AI extra videos from when carly got voted off and he asked her 'did i give you the kiss of death?' come on he even appologized to her when she got voted off by saying 'Carly i'm sorry for giving you a compliment last night, it was the kiss of death', so he is aware that his opinion influences votes. i do have to say that his comments that he gave david tuesday made me scared that archie would win, they did make me a little mad and i made sure to vote just because i couldn't give up and would do anything i could to make sure that david would win. and the comments given to archie that night, well they made me mad, and scared, and well i don't run away from my fears...especially that type of fear, i take them on and fight them, but it wasn't really simons comments that made me mad, it was more of randy's comments that really got to me, i just thought 'WHAT THE HECK!!! DAVID COOK HAS PERFORMED BETTER SO MANY TIMES!!!' so i would have to say that it was the combined comments of randy and simon that really got me voting, although i was going to vote like crazy no matter what the comments were, i even said before the performances started that i might use up all of my minutes that night ( i have pay as you go) and i had just got new minutes lol i had about 17 left by the time i was done voting, and i'm happy to say that i managed to squeeze in 3 votes through the phone=D, and those were after several busy signals

but i have to say that i found it amusing that i was for cook and my mom was for archie , her reasoning for voting for archie was that ' well from a mothers point of view i have to like him' to that i said '...well david cook has a mom too' lol, and to that she said 'yeah, and so does simon and jason castro'

ok and this might be in the wrong forum but did anybody else go through a wednesday like i did of people talking about how archie had such a good night and that he was going to win? grr...that's how mine was, i actually was asked by a teacher who i thought was going to win and i just said 'idk, archie had a good night, but i honestly don't know, cook has had a really good season' and i have a few archie fans ( very few of my friends watch idol) so i had 2 archie friends and one cookie friend, and then i had my mom who is an archie fan, and the archie people were all 'oh archie had a really good night, he's going to win' and a few times that day before the show i just started crying, lol but my family had to deal with my high pitched very loud scream the second i heard the -ok in cook

Im sure he just said that to cheer us up to vote for DC.
