DC had so many amazing covers this season...specifically Hello, Billie Jean, Always Be My Baby, and Eleanor Rigby....do you think any would be released as singles or make it on his next album? I know Mariah said he must release ABMB being she liked it so much. I'll admit, I'd like to see 1 or 2 of them included.

I really hope they would release as an album his studio versions, and those would just be enough for 1 album. I read somewhere that "Time of My Life" would not be released as a physical album, that it would only be available for download. I think the people concerned are making a huge mistake. There are millions of people who would want to have a copy of DC's albums, and would buy his songs on AI. And there are those people who do not own a computer but have a CD player, they would want an album too. For me, getting the songs thru downloading is tiresome. Plus I want to look at a physical album, some sort of a remembrance from this incredible season. I cannot get over the fact that in my small way, I helped DC win.

Maybe we should do something so the studio versions would be released as an album.

If they do include any idol covers on his album I hope they include 'The First Time Ever.........' and /or 'All I Really Need Is You', these were two of my favorites, too bad they didn't put them out as studio recordings on iTunes.

I'm really hoping that he does a studio recording of "The World I Know" because I adore the way he sang that song. It's just too short! I want more! I'm not going to hold my breath, because I really doubt that it'll be on there, but you know, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

They've not released physical copies of the singles since Season 4

I have most of his singles from itunes, but several of my friends don't have itunes/computers, and would love to have some of his songs.

I think he aleady said that there won't be any Idol covers on the first album. They're already on studio versions...some pretty good.

My favorite song that he performed was "Music of the Night" to be honest !!! Those songs that you like would be great singles to be released on his first debut album, but "Music of the Night" would be good song to be released b/c this song shows his true talent of singing not just rocking out on the stage. But I definitely would love to have "Always be my baby", "Billie Jean" and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" to be on his debut album soon as possible !! Good topic!! Thanks

I think that he will do a studio version of "The First Time Ever I Saw You Face" because that was one of the few songs with the exception of the finale songs that didnt get released on iTunes as a studio version when all the other ones were.

Personally I really hope his new album would be purely new songs. We got what we got out of Idol, and that's in the past. Now it's time to look at the future. I wouldn't want an album with songs I already have.

On the Idol Extra interview right after the finale results show, David said they were not planning to include any of the AI cover songs he performed.

He is such a gifted songwriter that it would be a shame to have covers on the album, but that's just my opinion.

I agree. His idol songs were great, but they weren't completely his. I'm ready for songs that are purely his own. Also, lots of artists do random covers at their concerts, so I'm sure when he tours after Idol Live! I'm sure he'll continue doing a couple amazing covers.

That was exactly my reasoning. Being he is putting out an album so quickly, and several of those covers were just so good...instant hits on my opinion....it would only make sense. I don't see how including two covers would be detrimental to the album. Afterall, ABMB was basically all him....and "Hello" was simply phenomenal.

I agree. He did say there would not be covers on the CD and I hope it stays that way. Most of us already have the studio versions of what he did on the show so there is no real reason to put it on the album. I'm ready for something new. As far as CD singles, they went away sometime back. I doubt we will ever see those again. As far as I know, none of the winners from past seasons have included covers on what they did on the show on their CD's. I don't think this time will be any different. It seems that David doesn't want to make an Idol CD and I'm glad that he's sticking to his guns on that. You have to reach people outside the fandom who aren't Idol fans that might be interested in buying this album. That is really the main goal, picking up new fans who may not be familiar with him.
