All Right Now
Hello
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

But I love them all!!!
anii
My 2 favorite performances, the ones that finally won me over, were:

- The Music of the Night, and
- All I Really Need is You

Both of these were slower and softer than previous performances. They showed both his range and his willingness to be quiet (the mark of a true rock god - just look at Jimmy Page and James Iha). I'd never heard either song before, which was to DC's advantage because from the moment I saw him perform them, they became *his* songs.

The thing that got me the most (and what also took me from indifference to gagafangirldom forever) was the expressiveness of his eyes and the slow, shy, sly way in which he closed them, batting his eyelashes for effect. I loved the judicious way in which he executed this move at one or two prime opportunities - as though he was dreamily lovelorn or yes, in the grip of ecstasy.

That patented DC move - the combo head-tilt-eye-close - should be trademarked.

I love the studio version of Billie Jean also, probably ranked #6, but the live one has some amazing amazing runs and notes that are breathtaking. hehe.

This is such a hard q ...

1) Sharp Dressed Man ... DC is a rocker to the core! I squealed ... squealed I know ... when I heard the chords and it was his best performance. LOVE IT LOVE IT

2) Always Be My Baby ... the emotion behind that song, I get goosebumps every time I heard it. I know it is a break up song but I vow it will be my wedding song ... if you really think about the lyrics it is perfect and only my DC will sing it, no Mariah at my wedding!

3) Baba O'Riley ... it was another squealing moment ... I am a big CSI NY buff and when I heard it I nearly fell out of my chair ... his voice and the stare ... awesome

4) Music of the Night ... the song that really showed everyone his vocal skills and that he was really THAT GOOD! The whole part when he sings 'Grasp it, sense it' ... hmmm I fall more in love with him!

5) I Don't Want To Miss A Thing ... DC doing a Steve Tyler? AMAZING, PHENONMAL, BREATHTAKING ... I cried!

hi everyone, first time to join a david cook fansite....BUT i was all over the place...during AI to ROCK THE VOTE! for COOK! i just love this man!

this was only my second time to vote for ANYONE on AI! and vote i did.....it was alot of work, but i had to do it!

David Cook is going to be the only other AI. up there with Carrie Underwood as a HUGE STAR! selling millions..and winning awards...i use Carrie as a example cuz she did make it big time.

I am Not very big on country music!...Cook is so my style of music i LOVE wink.gif

my favorite songs from DC on AI were

he had me at HELLO!

Billie Jean

E. Rigby

YES even day tripper

first time ever i saw your face [he did a beautiful job on that song, first time i cried during ANY song on AI]

music of the night [showed just what GREAT vocals DC has]

i loved all 3 song for the final

and i loved, loved......Hero during the finale

IMO DC sings these songs Better than the org singer of them all

I have a friend that knew of DC before AI...she would go see him in bars she almost passed out when we found out DC was going to be on AI....we both knew that he would win! that is just how great he is in person....i kid you not..cook will be a very huge star... he will write, and sing songs that will last that will mean something way after we are gone from this earth to pass on to the next...i really believe we are in the mist of seeing a superstar being made.. in David Cook! this guy just has it! and he is one of the nicest person EVER! all the best David...i will be seeing you in august in Houston, Tx...ROCK ON!

YEAH!!! He was my favorite guy from the start...became my favorite overall with Hello...then he did THAT. From the way he roughly handled the mic, to the outstretched arms, to the total giddiness after the performance. LOVED...THAT...PERFORMANCE.

My top 4:

He had me at Hello too. And Eleanor Rigby just made me love him more -- I LOVE that song and I LOVE that he turned it into a rock ballad. It was just awesome. smile.gif

All.

in so little words that was well put.
DavidCook_UKFan
It's so hard to pick just the one performance, so I have picked my top three performances (which took some deciding!)

1) Hello - because it was the first performance I saw of David's and because of this peformance I became a fan and decided to watch the show.

2) Daytripper - such a sexy performance - nothing else to say really about that one! tongue.gif

3) Always Be My Baby - I was so shocked when David said he was going to perform this song, just because I know the original version and it didn't really seem to 'fit' David. But he changed the song, made it a hundreds better then the original and proved what a wonderful, sensitive, emotive performer he is. If he released this song as a single, it would be a worldwide hit.

Always be my baby.
Nothing can top that.

I almost cry like a baby everytime I watch it.
Sometimes when I listen to it- I cry.
<3

It just amazes me, and such raw emotion.
I love it.

Wow! Tough question. I LOVE them all, but if I had to pick my top five, they would be:

1. Music of the Night (especially Studio version)
2. Always Be My Baby
3. Billie Jean
4. The World I Know
5. The First Time Ever I saw your Face

After those top five, my favs are "Little Sparrow" "Hello" "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" Ha, yesterday I heard Aerosmith's version, and thought it paled in comparison to DC's version. SIDENOTE: I'm so disappointed in Chicago area radio stations in that they are NOT playing Time of My Life! sad.gif
AnnaLouise
My top 5...

1. Billie Jean - The one that really made me sit up and take notice of David and the day I started to root for him
2. Music of the Night - I'm a huge theatre geek and this just made me so happy, especially when he proved he could pull it off
3. Little Sparrow - I loved the mood of it! And the fact that he did the arrangement himself? Brilliant. Just listen to the original. His has a slightly different flare and it sounds amazing live AND studio.
4. Always Be My Baby - Again, same reason as Little Sparrow. The arrangement is amazing.
5. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - I really wish there was a studio version of this. It's an amazing vocal performance and one of my all time favorite songs.

I feel like I'm leaving out Eleanor Rigby and the World I Know because I love those songs so much.

ABMB is a favorite as is TWIK and the ZZ top. ABMB proved he is a rock gawd. I love a mariah carey song. The devil is in a parka right now tongue.gif
dc-vision
I loved everything he did, but Billie Jean is the one I watch over and over and over.

Also really loved the Hero duet.

Katy G.
For some reason, I feel head over heels in love with 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.' I think it's the way he really stretches his voice and envelops the notes.
But then there is the typical ones like BJ, Hello and ABMB.
I also enjoyed the studio versions of little sparrow, which I found haunting, and innocent, which was just beautiful.

everything, basically.

That's SO hard for me to pick laugh.gif Here's my list in order, not saying any of them are BAD, there's just some that I liked more than others LoL

Hello-Only because it was the performance that turned me into a Word Nerd, when I had completely written David off before that.
Always Be My Baby-This will ALWAYS stick in my mind as one of David's best. Not only was it a spectacular performance, but who can forget the tears?
Sharp Dressed Man-This is hands-down one of David's best. He was such a ROCKSTAR during this performance. I keep watching it over and over and over again. I thought it was great. It definitely stuck out to me.
I Don't Want To Miss A Thing-This performance made David look like he had already won American Idol. I loved everything about it. He just looked like a star in this one.
Billie Jean-Again, obvious reasons. It was genius and he was amazing.
All Right Now-It's funny...this was during week 2, when I wasn't even a David fan, and when he originally performed it, I couldn't have cared less because I wasn't paying attention to him. I was still thinking he was arrogant and fake, I was SO wrong. I can't believe I even thought that. Now that I watch it, it's one of my favorites. I watch it ALL the time.
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For-I thought this performance was absolutely brilliant. I loved every second. I thought David looked AND sounded amazing.
TFTEISYF-So simple, yet so beautiful. His voice sounded so pure and it made me tear up.
Music Of The Night-What an amazing vocal performance. This actually gave me goosebumps the first time I watched it. His voice was AMAZING here. He surprised everyone (everyone being those who didn't know him like we did) by showing how versatile he could really be and that he has an incredible vocal range.

I could go on and on, but I won't laugh.gif

~Steph

Gosh, you are right on, girl. I completely agree with your choices as well as the reasons with your choices....only I had never written David off. I thought All Right Now was really good, but when he did Hello the following week, it took my breath away! I constantly re-watch these on YOU TUBE. I would just have to add a few:

Daytripper - this demonstrated his guitar skills and it's just a really sexy performance - love to watch him move and that voice box - VERY nice!

Eleanor Rigby - amazing! Loved when got to the chorus and then his joy at the end of the song when he was done!

His solo on the Shout to the Lord performance (first night of Idol Gives Back) - oh my gosh, I was not expecting his solo and his voice just knocked my socks off!! WOW! Seriously! He blew me away! I was so pleased the producers gave him that solo and he sang it so beautifully - those high & long notes! The second night when they repeated the song, they started walking around right around his solo, so the focus on DC was not like the night before.

One other thing - LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the studio version of Little Sparrow. His voice is so gritty and raw. I think this song really showcases some of his unique vocal abilities...especially 3 minutes into the song when he is singing acapella. WOW - that voice. It just gives me chills!!!! smile.gif
StyleSteel
Everyone the performances were amazing, but the ones that just stood out to me or seemed to stick in my mind for days were:

1) Music of the Night- It just blew me away. I love musicals, so when I found out they were doing ALW's songs I was ecstatic. I loved it.

2) The Time of My Life- I loved how he got the others to sing it with him. That was awesome. But it was his winning performance so it was great.

3) Still Haven't Found What I'm Lookin For- I thought he was amazing with this song! It is my favorite to listen to.

4) Always Be My Baby- I wasn't home that night, but I watched it on youtube the next morning. I had no idea about his brother being or anything, but while he I was watching it I was in tears. The heart he put into just gripped me in such a way. I really fell for Mr. Cook after that performance. (He had my vote WAY before, but he just blew me away with that one.)

5) All Right Now- I just loved it. It was great. During that performance I was like "wow, this guy definitely has something." So many people dogged me the next day when I talked about how much I loved it because they thought he full of himself. All I could say was "Pshhh"
SarahLee
1. "Always Be My Baby"- Beautiful rendition. It was haunting and amazing. My all time favorite performance.
2. "Hello"- Turned me into a major believer. I had goosebumps after this one.
3. "The Time Of My Life"- It puts a smile on my face because I get to hear it at work on the satellite radio!! laugh.gif
4. "Sharp Dressed Man"- That just describes David and it just rocked!!
pointforcookies
Oh, I loved all of them... but if I had to pick my top 3: Always be My Baby, The World I Know, and Music of the Night ( funny story...my musical-loving roommate watched ALW week with me, and as soon as Cook hit the big note in the middle, she turned to me and said "Ok, can he go on Broadway and be my Phantom?")
voodoogirl
1. Always be my baby - i fantisize about him singing this song to him all the time!
2. Music of the night - perfecto!
3. Time of my life - hello? he sang this song during the time of his life! laugh.gif
Ali Anne
1)Day Tripper
2) Eleanor Rigby
3)Music Of The Night
4) Time Of My Life
