What was your favorite performance of the season?

I know I had many...like:

Dream Big
I Don't Want To Miss A Thing
Time of My Life
Always Be My Baby
Billie Jean

gosh actually it was pretty much all of them!
ajpr2
I loved his initial audition and then again his Hollywood auditions. (Who doesn't love a man who sings Everything I do and I'll Be?)
Always Be My Baby
Day Tripper
Innocent
Baba ORiley
All Right Now
The World I Know
Hello

I liked everything, but these really stick out for one reason or another. I also really liked Music of the Night because his voice sounded just so pure and amazingly sexy.

If I really have to choose maybe top 3..

1) Billie Jean
2) The First Time...
3) All I Really Need Is You

Your list is almost my exact list - just a few tweaks:

LOAP (audition) and EID/IB (from Hollywood Week - his voice was so pure)
Innocent
Day Tripper
Sharp-Dressed Man
All Right Now
ABMB
Billie Jean
Eleanor Rigby
The World I Know
ISHFWILF
Hello
TFTEISYF

MOTN was unbelievable, because it showed his versatility. Shoot, I feel like I just named his entire season of songs! There's a reason I have a DC on AI playlist on repeat! lol wub.gif

HaniStar
i love all of his performances. If i had to absolutely choose, i'd have to say that my fav are:

1) Billie Jean
2) Always Be My Baby
3) Hello
4) Eleanor Rigby

I've been playing them over and over and over....... i think i'm driving my colleagues crazy. But i dun care! happy.gif
CookieHoney
I love ALL of his performances, but I think the one that's the standout for me is "Music Of The Night." I'm not one for ballads, unlike a lot of women I know, but he just totally mesmerized me with that performance, and it's the one I'm constantly replaying.

That's SO hard for me to pick laugh.gif Here's my list in order, not saying any of them are BAD, there's just some that I liked more than others LoL

Hello-Only because it was the performance that turned me into a Word Nerd, when I had completely written David off before that.
Always Be My Baby-This will ALWAYS stick in my mind as one of David's best. Not only was it a spectacular performance, but who can forget the tears?
Sharp Dressed Man-This is hands-down one of David's best. He was such a ROCKSTAR during this performance. I keep watching it over and over and over again. I thought it was great. It definitely stuck out to me.
I Don't Want To Miss A Thing-This performance made David look like he had already won American Idol. I loved everything about it. He just looked like a star in this one.
Billie Jean-Again, obvious reasons. It was genius and he was amazing.
All Right Now-It's funny...this was during week 2, when I wasn't even a David fan, and when he originally performed it, I couldn't have cared less because I wasn't paying attention to him. I was still thinking he was arrogant and fake, I was SO wrong. I can't believe I even thought that. Now that I watch it, it's one of my favorites. I watch it ALL the time.
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For-I thought this performance was absolutely brilliant. I loved every second. I thought David looked AND sounded amazing.
TFTEISYF-So simple, yet so beautiful. His voice sounded so pure and it made me tear up.
Music Of The Night-What an amazing vocal performance. This actually gave me goosebumps the first time I watched it. His voice was AMAZING here. He surprised everyone (everyone being those who didn't know him like we did) by showing how versatile he could really be and that he has an incredible vocal range.

I could go on and on, but I won't laugh.gif

David caught my attention immediately during the auditions, but his performance of "So Happy Together" was the one that clinched it for me. I loved the way he pronounced "blue." Then later when he sang "Hello" I loved the way he pronounced "clue." "BLUE'S CLUES" Hehehe.

All of his songs were outstanding. The songs that got an average rating from the judges would have gotten an excellent rating had the performer not been him; because of the standard he set for himself, especially with ABMB, every song could only be equal or less.

But his take on "Music of the Night" was a real treat and a surprise. It was the moment that I believed that he was really versatile vocally as he claimed himself to be. I also especially loved the Dianne Warren and U2 songs. Plus the winner's song. It was just his story.

As for the others, I liked Michael Johns' perf during Dolly Parton week (It's So Wrong...), also Brooke's "You're So Vain" and "Love is a Battlefield."

Also Archie's "Angels" and "Smoky Mountain Memories"

Ramiel's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me."

And (don't hit me!) Danny Noriega's "Tainted Love". I liked the way he gave it a syncopated beat. Like if you sang with him you could not get his beat???

Jason's "Hallelujiah" (So right that he made a reprise during the finale)

Carly's "Here You Come Again" (Just noticed that on average, there were more songs done well during Dolly Parton week, as a whole; DC's Little Sparrow was also good.)

Am still thinking of others.

I woould have to say all!! Hahahha.. I don't know.. I'm on the fence here between Music of the Night and Always be my baby for all the reasons evry1 pointed out..
Rheanne
I loved all of his performances because he added his own twist to each song.

But if I have to pick they would be:

1. Billie Jean
2. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
3. I Don't Want To Miss a Thing

The best would have to be Time of My Life because after being named the new Idol he was totally filled with joy and happiness which was expressed on his face.

Always be my baby is the best, ever.
It always brings me to tears.
willow
I love all his performances, but if I had to pick one it would be "The World I Know." It was such a fitting final performance lyrically, and the raw emotion David expressed during the song (and, of course, afterwards) is just superb. The performance was simply beautiful.
mundum
The World I Know, Hello, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, and First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. I'm not quite sure what it is about these performances that speaks to me so much more than the others, but for some reason they do. I love the emotion behind The World I Know, the creativity behind Hello, the strings in I Don't Want to Miss a Thing (violinist here wink.gif ), and the pure beauty of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.
bleedinglove
My favorite was Always Be My Baby smile.gif My friends and I made an..interesting vid on youtube in dedication for our love for it heh heh.

I can't choose just one or two or five. I would say all of them. Every week he brought something different on the table and that's what makes each performances great. He showed how talented and versatile he was either with a slow/ballad or rock/upbeat song.
et4dave
There were so many but if I have to just pick one it would be "Always be My Baby".
Loved Billy Jean and Hello too.

MOTN

Absolutely blew.me.away. It was the one time that he really turned me on - literally. I mean, I was a pile of goo by the end, and it's the only studio performance I have downloaded from iTunes. It was just amazing. I was caught completely off-guard. I had never heard the song before, and didn't know what to expect. Andrew said it was sensual, and boy did David ever nail that!!

It is my second-favorite Idol performance EVER.
SarahBeth
This is a great question, but a tough one all at once....

Hello is just tops in my book - that was the song that drew me to David and then there was no turning back.

But I also loved in no particular order

1) Eleanor Rigby

2) Billie Jean

3) Music of the Night

4) All I Ever Need is You

5) First time I ever saw your face

6) The World I know

PLUS I loved him rocking out with ZZ Top (I watch that performance a lot) and I loved Time of My Life.

So I really can't pick just 1. Its the reason I have a David CD on repeat in my car. smile.gif

I think MOTN is my favorite Idol performance ever. I really loved David and all his performances up until then,
in fact I was sure he would make the final and he was already my favorite for a while. But he really got me
with MOTN. When I heard it was Andrew Lloyd Weber night, I kind of groaned and said to my husband, "God,
I hope nobody does Music of the Night". I've disliked it since I saw this terrible over-theatrical performance of it
live in L.A. The out he comes, and they say he's doing it! Argh!

The he sang it. OMG! It was so awesome that now I love that song! He was making musical love to millions
of salivating women, drop-jawed women!
