David, I usually just enjoy the show and forget it's a competition. However, this year I'm thinking about strategy too, and noticing yours. You re-thought your "hometown" after auditions - more votes. Your song choices are well thought out and showcase your strengths. Also, you seem to understand and incorporate the ideas of the judge (that's singular, people) who tells you what you need to know to sell yourself properly. Isn't that what everyone on AI is trying to do - sell something? Plus, your "Tom Jones" (ha ha) approach is working great - watch out for flying undies because the ladies are ravenous for you.

You haven't made any real mistakes - confidence is not a mistake IMO.

The producers, etc at AI are loving you because you are bringing a different element to the show. Chris Daughtry laid that groundwork last season, and you're capitalizing on that nicely. I love Chris' music but really don't put you two in the same category. Rock isn't just rock to me - you're branding yourself differently from Chris.

Speaking of Chris', I never would've thought that many Chris Cornell fans watched AI. Judging from the irritation your performance last night caused some of them, they are watching and paying close attention to you. Bad press is good press..... The bottom line is, Chris is trying to make money too, so this exposure is just more money in his pocket.

We all know you are going to be a winner regardless of what happens on the show. Your "cool points" will go way up with some of the rock crowd if you are NOT the AI this year. Plus, more creative freedom if you go it on your own. However, if you do win, widespread promotion and guaranteed recording contract. And all for doing something you'd probably do if it were against the law anyway.....

What a great post.. just one small error... Chris Daughtry was on two seasons ago... Season 5.. not a major error, no biggie....

and I agree with you.. I think David and Chris are both rockers, but have different styles and that Chris is amazing is his way and David is amazing in his way.. and I LOVE them both..

And, yeah who knew that so many Chris Cornell fans watched AI?? and what is to be mad about- David went on national TV in front of MILLIONS and rocked the song and Ryan said before he took the stage that it was a Chris Cornell version of the song.. and he is even said on his website that David had a "great performance" I bet that Chris is very happy that David did the song and did it so well.. so, it's a win-win-win situation...

A win for AI, since the ratings must have been thru the roof last night while we all waited for David to be on..

A win for David Cook, as he probably got half the votes last night.. (and he deserves all of them for sure!)

A win for Chris Cornell since he just got mentioned in front of MILLIONS of people on the hottest show on TV for FREE - (Imagine how jealous Coke and Ford must be right now- they PAY millions just to be mentioned!)
