no it was actually really good, a few songs were dreadful though.

I was not able to down load Analog Heart but did find some cuts on YouTube - some of the songs are really excellent; I hope this CD will be available again soon. Also I got to listen to most of DCs songs that he did over the weeks on Idol (I'm a little late catching up) but he is really excellent and I know that he will succeed. His voice reminds me of Bryan Adams or Steve Perry.

Is this an Analog Heart bashing thread?
Like seriously..

Yep! I love it. At this moment my favourite songs are maybe Silver, Searchlights and Let go, but I love them all, those were just the ones I listen to MOST at this moment. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the downloads.
I love everything David Cook sings.

Lyrically, Analog Heart is amazing. It's powerful and moving. Musically, there is maybe one song or so that runs a little off, but other than that, it constantly makes me wonder why David needed Idol at all, he should already be a famous rockstar!

I really like Analog Heart, to be honest, and I don't say this because I'm a DC fan. I'm a DC fan because of his voice, and Analog Heart is amazing. I also heard two singles from the new album, the one he recorded and was supposed to release this year (prior to Idol) and those are even better! I hope he incorporates some of the songs into his upcoming studio album.

Axium on the other hand, had a couple of dreadful songs, and some really good ones.

Anyway, there is a plethora of music genres and songs in the world for us to have different opinions on what appeals to us and what doesn't.

I really enjoy the album. Makes me wonder how many other "David Cooks" are out there just needing to be discovered.

I didn't find anything on this album dreadful. I think it is an amazing album just showcases more of his amazing talent. The lyrics are so full of meaning and it just makes me scream "I WANT MORE..." I am so anxious for a new album....

An interesting factoid:
Did you all know that David Cook designed Analog Heart's album cover? He used his skills as a graphic designer (that's what he got his college degree in). A true artist, in every sense of the word!!!

Can Analog Heart be downloaded? Has anyone done it? Is it safe?

Couldn't agree more on the music part.

Personally, I really liked the songs I've heard from Analog Heart, both as a David Cook fan, and just as a listener too.
EDIT: Oh, and thank you very much for the downloads, by the way. =D

Steve Perry is my all time favorite singer!! One of my playlists is a mix of Journey & David - I could so hear David belting out Open Arms or When you Love a Woman!! Nice to see another person hear the similarities in their voices smile.gif

Jumping into the forum, I had to regsiter and comment, having lurked and read for a few weeks. Hope that's OK.

I think this album is the reason why my casual preference for DC, watching AI each week, suddenly turned into white heat sometime about two weeks ago.

I liked the man from the Hollywood rounds - he stood out along with Michael Johns - and after 'Hello' he was definitely my favourite. And after Billie Jean, he became somewhat of a turn on too.

But that was still all in the context of having watched AI since series three and having a favourite each time - not something I would have carried beyond my enjoyment of the programme.

Out of curiosity, I downloaded Analogue Heart when I stumbled on this site, whilst surfing one evening. And I love it.

Some songs are stronger than others - but, then, that's the same with any album I've ever listened to, even my favourite singers/bands. I love The Truth and a couple of others stand out too.

But if he can produce this, as a penniless independent, I cannot wait to hear what he comes up with, with the influence, finance and support of the best in the industry around him. Hopefully, he'll be able to put his own songs on the album!

So, this is the first time I have ever downloaded songs by a performer on a reality TV show and it's the first time ever that I've been looking forward eagerly to their album.

Oh and PS - THANK YOU so much, everyone who has made this album available for download...there is no way that here in the UK I would have heard it otherwise.

I absolutely love the whole cd, but my favorite song is Searchlights. His vocals are amazing on it!!
Miss Nickie
I love the whole album. My favourite track is Porcelain, it sounds like something I'd hear on the radio biggrin.gif

Does anyone else think that he sounds a little like Chad Kroeger from Nickleback?
zoo
My favorite song is Porcelain as well, Miss Nickie, although I really do like all the songs on the CD. I agree with an above post about how wonderful the lyrics are for all the songs on the CD. I think they are very intelligent (gee...no big surprise considering who wrote them laugh.gif ). So many times you are stuck with songs that pretty much repeat the same thing over and over or resort to la la la much of the way through. These lyrics create mental images for me. They are wonderful, IMO.

I also agree with an above post that, when I did hear the CD, my opinion for David (which was very high, anyway) jumped up at least ten notches. I was so happy that they had a person on the show who actually was a competant writer and would not have to resort to depending upon other writers for his songs. Yes, it takes quite a talent to sing, but, to me, it takes so much more talent to write and to write something decent. And to be able to sing beautifully as well and play guitar to boot? Now you have the entire package!

I think Analog Heart is...in a word, AMAZING. To think DC wrote and produced this without any resources or funding from any major label is astounding. All songs are really great, imo, and a few are beyond stellar. I think my absolute favorite is "Let Go." OMG, this would be an instant mega hit on the radio today. The album ROCKS!!!!!

Absolutely love it! I keep playing it over, and over, and over. It didn't take me long to learn the lyrics, and they are beautiful!

I haven't downloaded this yet, but I really love Analog Heart. There are some really good songs there. I really like the Axium stuff too. After seeing/hearing what he can do with a song....I'm up for anything from DC.

"Analog Heart" is one of the few albums which I listen to everyday without skipping any tracks. DC is a magnificent songwriter. I also think it's very radio-friendly that if it gets re-released it will definitely sell a lot! Not to mention, around 6-7 tracks in the album could be released as singles. AH is pure brilliance.

I listened to it around the time the top 12 was chosen. I was really becoming a Cook fan around that time so I wanted to hear more by him and found the album by mistake. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, just the first few tracks and I really enjoy it. =)
DCfan4life
In my quest to find everything DC that I could after his A-M-A-Z-I-N-G performance of Billie Jean, I bought AH from Amazon before it was pulled. I'm proud to say I was one of the many fans who helped push DC to the #1 spot, which, unfortunately, also helped get AH banned!!

When I first listened to AH, I had the same reaction as many; a few tracks were terrific, a few a bit amateurish, and one or two actually hard to listen to.

Then I read an amazing review that talked about how AH is really lyric poetry put to music. Together, the songs tell a "story". It begins with the creeping fear that a relationship isn't "quite right"; visits the uncertainty about what to do; describes the anger and pain of rejection and the realization that attempts at reconciliation are futile; followed by the heartache of realizing there's no going back; and the despair of understanding what you've lost; followed by the pain of accepting that the relationship is dead and "letting go"; searching for new meaning and finally, moving on to a new day (and love.)

When you understand this, you begin to understand the album's genius. Sure, some of the tracks are a bit unpolished, but it's an independently-produced indie album. Lack of polish comes with the territory. And some things, like the horrible "screaching" at the end of "Let Go" suddenly become obvious: the listener's ear pain is but a surrogate for the heartache and difficulting felt in finally "letting go" of a true love. Or the dream one had of having found true love.

Knowing that about the album also sheds some light on DC's comments, heard most recently, about how he wants his post-idol album to "tell a story" and "show progression." DC isn't satisfied just singing songs; he wants his music to speak of journeys. Of desire. Of the heart and soul. Of human existence. That's exactly what AH does.

Post-AI, DC will be challenged with threading that tenuous line between commercial success and true artistic expression. If his AI experience tells me anything at all, it's that DC may be one - like Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Phil Collins, Tim Rice, Andrew LLoyd Weber and even Johnny Cash, among others - who could do it.

AH may not be musically "perfect" but it is artistically significant in terms of helping us understand what David Cook and his music are all about.

i adore "let go"
