EVERYBODY READ THIS!!!!
Current mood: anxious
Ok...
Since Myspace's server's are all muddled up (trust me, muddled is a word...) I have decided to post the songs up on purevolume.com

I made my website link the link for it, so check it out. Like most things, however, you may have to wait a few days for it to go through, but I'm hoping it will be up quickly.

On another note, Thanks to everyone who's been on here already. Your comments as well as your general support are awesome. This is definately a step out of my particular comfort zone, and every one of you is making it that much easier. Please continue to tell all of your friends to come check it out. If they're myspace-aholics, have them request me as a friend, send me an e-mail, comment...anything. As long as they're hearing the music and enjoy it, I'm happy.

Peace out, you punk bitches, 'Cause it's on like that.

Also, www.axiumrock.com is a good place to go, and there's always www.purevolume.com/davidcookmo
Lastly, I just starting tracking on a new solo song, called "Searchlights". I'm hoping to get everything else done here in a week or two, so I'll try to get something tangible up for you to listen to ASAP.

photo shoot and more....
OK, so here's the skinny....
I posed in my sexiest pair of lace undergarments for some promotional photography earlier this week, under the watchful "eye" of Ms. Randi Kampeter. It was entirely too much fun and I can't wait to show you the results. We just have to find a way to wash seminal fluid out of an aperture lens (that was a joke.)
Also, I know I've been teasing you constantly with this whole "solo album" business. I mean not to string you along. I'm currently looking for a "financial friend" who wants to invest in me and my music, so until then, or until the Missouri Lottery stops being a huge douche nozzle, this will be the only place to hear my stuff. I AM DETERMINED to get this album out for all of you, as well as myself. I'm extremely proud of this and I want to share it with you all. So, as a result, I promise, that SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, this album will see the light of day....
Lastly, make sure you check out this page for upcoming show dates, etc. And also, for those of you who are not yet aware, I also play in two other bands...axium (www.axiumrock.com OR www.myspace.com/axium) and MWK (www.midwestkings.com OR www.myspace.com/mwkmusic) So, check those pages out for show dates as well, and for Christ's sake, come see me. Grandma would've wanted it that way.

Love you all and thank you for the continued support

The Official Generic "BIG NEWS" Post
Today is February 27th, 2006, and here's what's going on in my world...
I found a financial backer. I am not at liberty to discuss him/her just yet...in due time. However, I am at liberty to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to him/her in hopes that he/she reads this and/or looks at this page.
I did some scratch track recording for the last two songs on the album, and I will be, barring any scheduling conflicts, recording these last two songs at the beginning of March in Tulsa, OK.
Lastly, I've been thinking of changing the name of the album from "A Second Chance At A First Impression" to "My Analog Heart". The former title is pretty obvious to those who know the story of David Cook, but for those who don't, it basically implies that this album is a new start for me. A chance, if you will, to branch out from the whole Axium thing and try something else.
"My Analog Heart", to me, symbolizes the whole "I wear my heart on my sleeve" mentality. Some view that as an old school, chivalrous thing to do, hence the "Analog" aspect. So "My Analog heart' suggests a few things about me.
Anyhoo, I need your input. Which title appeals to you more?
Remember, P Diddy said it best... Vote Or Die!
I thought I told you that we won't stop, I thought I told you that we won't stop....

Just your garden-variety, everyday update...
So...I started doing some pre-production on some new songs tonight. Got one completely mapped out. The working title is "A Daily AntheM" (yes, the letter capitalization has some importance.smile.gif ) Lots o' work to be done, but given that a new song from the David Cook camp hasn't been unveiled since the album release, I figured it to be relatively important. Important enough to let you in on, anyway....

New Material... just for you...
I'm in the studio right now beginning production on a new David Cook album. I know, I know...I've barely given "Analog Heart" time to breathe... This new album will take a while. The first three songs I'm tracking are called "A Daily AntheM", "Chandelier", and "The Downfall". I'm very excited about the new stuff, so you may be able to hear one or two of these new songs at a live show...hint, hint.

New Album Updates
So we're all but done with pre-production. New songs are coming together sexy-like. We're going in to do drums on September 8th and 9th on ten songs. They are as follows:
DISCLAIMER: These are all working titles and they are in no particular order. Also, any one of these songs may not make the album
A Daily AntheM
Precious Decline
Chandelier
The Downfall
Only If...
Better Late Than Never
We're Only Honest When We're Sleeping
Elizabeth
Never To Return
By The Fire, Gently Burning

I'm also toying with the idea of a live track version of one of the songs from "Analog Heart". We'll see how functional that idea is.

Lastly, I'm contemplating naming the album 'Optimistic To A Fault". Good idea? Bad idea? I want your input.

Later, taters.
~D

Album update... november 07
Current mood: creative
Here's the skinny...
the drum tracking is done. Aaron Baker has done a masterful job. This album is going to have a different vibe than the last, and a lot of that is due, in part, to Aaron.
Right now, there are ten songs. I'm crossing my fingers for an eleventh, but time will tell.
the tracks, right now, in now particular order, are:
A Daily AntheM
Chandeliers (Monty's pining for 'Scandeliers')
The Downfall
Debutante
Elizabeth
Better Never Than Late
We're Only Honest When We're Sleeping
Eta Carinae
A Dirty Shame
Precious Decline

The album title is still up in the air. "Optimistic To A Fault" has been joined by "Remember This". thoughts, questions, concerns?
Right now, we're looking at a March release, but nothing's set in stone. could be earlier or later.
other than that, I hope everyone enjoys their holidays. take care and see you soon.

I liked how he gave an explanation on why he named his album Analog Heart. He wears his heart on his sleeve awww. I wish the media would ask him more about his pre Idol days and influences instead of some of the silly questions they ask him. They really need to focus more on his music and how he is an artist...not the "are you surpised you won?" foolish crap.

Agreed, I'd like to know more about his creative process. There were comments on the old blog where his fans and friends voted on the title of Analog Heart and it won unanimously over the alternate title. I think it's cute how he accepted input.
However, I understand that he needs to focus on the future, unknown as it is.

yes, he's mentioned in interview that he had a second solo album (after analog heart) in the works and had a working song list posted on the aforementioned blog. He said it was a bit frustrating not knowing when he could release it. I'd LOVE to hear it...the original one...raw and uncut...not touched by the new label. I managed to hear one. It's bloody awesome! I don't know what it's called or where to find it anymore, but I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. The problem was, it got immediately pulled. There is one that you can hear though, called Optimistic to a Fault (title name) that you can look for on Youtube. It's the one he does for Okla Travel Net. It was recorded in July/August, just about when he got on Idol. We haven't hear anything in that nature since, and in the future, it'll be Idol-pressed.

Thank you so much for sharing DC's music journey before AI. I love everything about this man. I really hope his 2nd solo album will be released because talent like that must be shared. Thanks, I really enjoy reading his blogs because it helped me to understand him better as a young man with a huge passion and how talented he is.
sleepyinsomniac
Thanks for posting these. It's cool to read about his pre-idol musical life. It does confirm that he was happy and content with his musical path such that he wasn't really into the whole AI thing until he got convinced into doing it.

I wish that we get to hear some of these songs on his upcoming record. For that matter, I'd love for this whole thing to become his new record because Analog Heart was quite good for me.

Just got the T-shirts in. I'll post a mock up picture of them here in a few, but know that they're in, and according to Cosmopolitan Magazine, "these shirts are the newest fad sweeping the nation." I swear...

For those who didn't know, I am now playing acoustically at Market Pub EVERY Thursday from 9:30pm to 12:30pm, in the shopping plaza on the northeast corner of 51st and Memorial in Tulsa, OK. My buddy, Andy Skib, is with me. Everyone should come out. Great drink specials... oh, yeah, which remind me, it is 21 and up.

Take care, monkeys.

New Album Updates
So we're all but done with pre-production. New songs are coming together sexy-like. We're going in to do drums on September 8th and 9th on ten songs. They are as follows:
DISCLAIMER: These are all working titles and they are in no particular order. Also, any one of these songs may not make the album
A Daily AntheM
Precious Decline
Chandelier
The Downfall
Only If...
Better Late Than Never
We're Only Honest When We're Sleeping
Elizabeth
Never To Return
By The Fire, Gently Burning

I'm also toying with the idea of a live track version of one of the songs from "Analog Heart". We'll see how functional that idea is.

Lastly, I'm contemplating naming the album 'Optimistic To A Fault". Good idea? Bad idea? I want your input.

Later, taters.

Album update... november 07
Current mood: creative
Here's the skinny...
the drum tracking is done. Aaron Baker has done a masterful job. This album is going to have a different vibe than the last, and a lot of that is due, in part, to Aaron.
Right now, there are ten songs. I'm crossing my fingers for an eleventh, but time will tell.
the tracks, right now, in now particular order, are:
A Daily AntheM
Chandeliers (Monty's pining for 'Scandeliers')
The Downfall
Debutante
Elizabeth
Better Never Than Late
We're Only Honest When We're Sleeping
Eta Carinae
A Dirty Shame
Precious Decline

The album title is still up in the air. "Optimistic To A Fault" has been joined by "Remember This". thoughts, questions, concerns?
Right now, we're looking at a March release, but nothing's set in stone. could be earlier or later.
other than that, I hope everyone enjoys their holidays. take care and see you soon.

That is such an awesome post. Thanks for that! It's so nice to see a glimpse of what his pre-idol life was like. I would love to hear the new album...

I have one question though..what are his xanga posts and where might those be found?

Since it looks like that info shouldn't be posted here, and i respect that privacy, if you can email me the info at joykb1124@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing those. What a fun glimpse into David's pre-idol life and world. I would love to hear some of the stuff that he was working on as well, prior to idol. I do hope a couple perhaps make it onto the new album (or future ones, for that matter)

I loved that explanation as well. So it seems to me that DC really is a romantic soul...

As to the redundant questions, I am sure that AI and it's affiliates, have MAJOR pull and are really trying to focus the public's attention towards selling the tour and the single (which is what will launch DC more into the main stream, oh those unfortunate people who haven't really researched what an incredible human being this man is) Oh but they WILL know soon enough, we just have to be patient.

I suspect that AI knows that David's album(s) would probably overtake anything any of the other contestant's tries as well as overshadow the tour. It's all about the money sometimes (okay all the time dry.gif ) I think that as his true fans, we should support his single and give him the launch this way, because we know, his music is going to "blow-the-@#$%-up"! I am already seeing him taking "best new artist" at next year's Grammy's, and then of course "best male vocal performance" the next. OOO OOO I know, "record of the year"! (that's more like it)

I only wish I had found his music sooner. I KNOW I would have been a huge fan way before Idol. His solo stuff is amazing, Axium and MWK are awesome bands too and I'm SO psyched about a new album coming out, whenever that may be. You can tell he just loves his work and works so hard for it. This was awesome, thanks for posting. I feel like I just got to know him a little better lol!

Wow. Reading those was so interesting. Makes me remember the days of going to my former boyfriend's band's shows back in high school. Just trying to get as many people to come and support you.

And now, he has all of us. We won't let you down, Cookie!

Really wish we'd get to hear those unreleased songs...

His cleverness and remarks remind me of a local band near me I love and their comments on their myspace page. They are quite the clever ones as well. I so enjoy how intelligent the writing is and shows such wicked wit. You can clearly read the excitement he is having in the process of making that CD.

I agree with an above comment of wishing we had known about his page and his music sooner. There are so many struggling indie artists out there trying to get their foot in the door. I am thrilled that David is getting his chance to have his music listened to by millions. How cool is that?!! biggrin.gif

Thanks for providing some backstory.

I went to DC's myspace page last week and requested to be added as a friend. I read the comments from all of his friends in Tulsa.

The next day when I was added, I went back to his myspace and it'd been taken over by AI or whoever. None of the old friends or comments were on it. It felt kinda, I don't know, eerie. Like he's been assimilated into the Borg collective, otherwise known as the American corporate music machine.

So that's why I'm glad you were able to salvage his blogs and post them here. I believe they are his words. While they don't really shed any new light on DC, they do demonstrate that who he appears to be *now* is who he was *then*.

It's exciting to read the enthusiasm in his 'voice' as he sets about doing what he loves, riding the wave as far as it will carry him. With no idea that he is about to overtaken by a ginormous tsunami of life-changing magnitude.

I truly hope he is given the creative autonomy to make a record of substance that he wants, and with some (all?) of his older material that I am quickly growing to love.

I didnt realize that David Cook could be so 'ghetto' quotin P-diddy and ish, thats freaking awesome!!! And the thing about the lottery being a douch nozzle...I almost peed laughing...I use that word ever too much when something is lamer than the lame is lame.

I was talking to a freind eariler today and he said that he kinda remebers Axuim, hes a BIG indy music freak. He was going to check some of his old stuff he has on his comp and get back to me...

from mid west to west coast, thats pretty big!

holla!!

Love reading that stuff. Just makes me love DC more. He is so ridiculously normal - even now. We can tell, either that, or I am deluded.

You're welcome, daytripper. It became pretty obvious that quite a few people missed out on a chance to read it before TPTB took over his site. Glad to share.

And Dee, haha, yes, his choice of words had me rofling all over the place. Douche nozzle has never popped up in my vocab, but it made me laugh. It was so random.

Padfoot I love you! I know you are asleep now across the sea, but thank you so much! I think I am going to have to put these in a word doc or something to save for posterity! Can you believe he says that IF he sells 2000 albums he might post a freeby! IF! What a trip! I suppose you have seen this, it's about the only old thing I could find: http://www.purevolume.com/davidcookmo Love ya

I agree with all of you! It would be sweet if we knew him long before AI, he is such a great man, and he would be a fantastic lifelong friend, it's no wonder he treasure his friends.

Anyhow someone said that he's like became a Borg (cyborg) after this AI thingy, and I might have to agree with that, somehow reading his blogs made me closer to him, like I knew him on a personal level - bec now it's like business business business. The personal touch is not getting through anymore - although I love the vid where he's thanking all of the fans for support.. aww.. so wearing his heart on his sleeve! smile.gif

Nonetheless, I'm so happy for him and I'm expecting great things for this man! smile.gif I am already 26 and haven't done anything half as great as what he did! really, what a catch! smile.gif urgh! I can actually go on for hours! hahah laugh.gif
