David,
If you actually read this - I wanted to take a shot to say congratulations on your AI win. I am not a corny teenager - I'm a mom with a wonderful husband and lovely 3 year old daughter. I've been watching AI since it started and you are the first true artist I've seen on the show - please do not be fooled by critics calling you a 'karyoke' singer - although I feel that you have a much thicker skin than that so I'm sure it doesn't bother you. I am so excited that you won and that you did not appear to compromise who you are for the sake of 'fitting in' (well - maybe the boxing thing... wink.gif. Please continue to stay grounded, focused on your music and write to express your soul. This kind of artistry is what touches us since we are all trudging through this life to find connection. I really feel that we are all connected in a worldly sense.

I am the aunt to an 11-year old nephew who was diagnosed with a brain tumor - glioblastoma - two years ago. I know the fear, anger, sadness and desperation you feel when watching a loved one battle the enemy of cancer. Please feel the connection to those around you who are not only your fans but individuals who are facing life's battles of their own. It must be very odd to have people feel like they know you only by watching performances of the edited and 'created' glimpse of David Cook. I do not know you on a personal level - but feel a connection to you if only because of your passion for music and the life tragedy of dealing with your brother's illness.

Please do not let the machine rule you in this life - you hold it by the hands - enjoy it and use it to educate, raise awareness and bring joy and meaning to us by your song.

Congratulations and Bless You and your Family.
Take care of yourself - stardom is a rough road - but a gift to use to give back!
Michelle
