GREAT IDEA! Thanks so much!!
Dear Andrew:
A mere thank you will never suffice for your bringing David into my life. I know how corny that sounds but please just bare with me. I realize that in a way, David is living your dream and I respect you so much for not having any bitterness towards him. I have to admit that I have never really gotten into American Idol. I've usually watched the auditions because they are freaking HILARIOUS but I've never invested my time or heart into voting for someone, until I saw David's audition. His voice blew me away and I learned to respect him as a talented singer. Later on after seeing his talent as a guiarist, I began to respect that but what I admire most about David is his personality and his heart. I'm glad that, in my lifetime, I got to watch his rise to fame from the beginning of Idol until now and whatever future fate has for him musically. So I say thank you for asking your big brother along to your audition and for being persistant in having him audition. This world is a much better place having his music ring in our ears. Don't give up on your dream.. your time will come because I've heard you sing and you have an amazing voice, as well. Take care, God Bless.. and I wish you "The Time Of Your Life" too.

I PM'd my letter, but I'm pretty happy with how I put my feelings into words, so thought I'd share, as well:
Dear Andrew,
It's all your fault... and that's a good thing!
It's going to send trite, but I'm sending you my sincerest thanks for talking your brother, David, into auditioning for American Idol. I know it was YOUR dream to audition and go on to the "big stage", but I feel certain that your time will come. From what little I've been able to glean from the few videos on YouTube etc., you are a true talent in your own right. It's the heart of the musician that ultimately creates beautiful music and you've shown yourself to be a young man of incredible heart. Like any normal younger brother, I'm sure you had private thoughts.... of "hey, man.... that's my dream...!" But you never showed it and have always been there for David and your family. And I love you (although I've never met you) for it.
You and the rest of your family are such grounded wonderful people, we can only wish you all the best and hats off to your parents - they've done a fabulous job raising wonderful sons! Stay strong, keep working for your dream and it will come true.
Over the next months and years, David's going to need you and your close circle more than ever to keep him safe from the maddening crowd... I'm confident that you're all up to the task - we love him just the way he is - the real David (inside), not the celebrity.... please make sure you remind him of that! And I'm sure he'll return the favor, when it's your turn at fame and fortune!
Best Regards.

Thank you so much for sharing your brother and your dream with all of us. You have been such an awesome ‘backbone’ of support throughout the whole process. He is sincerely proud of you and loves you, and it shows.
Music is the heartbeat of life, and I truly believe your life and dream are but a short distance ahead. Keep reaching for it, feeling for the pulse that pushes you closer to what you really search for. All this talk of DC owing us the world doesn't compare because honestly We owe YOU the world. Thank you for dragging your brother, waking him up before noon, and standing in the rain on that cold Omaha morning. I know that he was there to support you but the fact that you pushed feelings aside and not only made him do it but supported him the entire way warms my heart to no end. You are a sweet, smart, caring, talented man and I just hope that one day I am lucky enough to meet you in person and say thanks!

here's my letter:
Dear Andrew,
Thank you so much for making your brother tag along with you at the auditions and thanks for making him audition. Honestly, I wouldn't have known a great talent that is your brother and I am thankful that you played a part in his success now. I respect you fully since you didn't take let that green-eyed monster lash out and you supported your brother thoroughly in this whole American Idol process. I know he's living your dream right now but fear not Andrew, I know you are a great talent yourself (I've heard your song and your voice calms me, it's undeniably beautiful), your brother's winning might jump start your career some time soon, so either way, you get to enjoy the benifits that comes with it.
Good luck with your future plans, wish you all the best and never give up in reaching your dreams Andrew.

I too hope I ain't too late for this one.
Here it goes:
Dear Andrew,
First of all, thank you for being very supportive towards David, and that you got him to accompany you to audition for Idol. If that's really your fault, then it's the 'loveliest' fault you ever caused, cos had it not been for you, we wouldn't have known and discovered the beauty of your brother's talent that had endeared him to us fans, and that includes me.
But most of all, you have my respect that even though he was the one who made it through all the way to the end, you remained supportive, with no signs of ill-feeling towards him.
I figured you can sing too, so I wish you the best in your future endeavours. Also, if you are considering auditioning for Idol again, go for it. You have my support on that! *wink wink*
With warmest regards,
Seth (Cookey's Fan) from Singapore.

Dear Andrew,
I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for getting David to audition. You are so special in your own right. If it was not for you we all would not have been able to enjoy and grow to love such an incredible talent such as David's. For that I am grateful. I hope you too will get the chance to show us what wonderful talent you have. I can see it now, " The Cook Brothers Live". That would be awesome. Keep pursuing your dream and someday it may come true. Again thank you for being so unselfish. David is the best American Idol there has ever been.

I just wanna say 'thank you so much' for getting the wordnerd into the audition and for being so supportive along the way. I myself am an only child, and I always dreamt of having a brother (maybe if I had one I would be fighting with him right now haha), but if I had one, I would love him to be like you. You and your family look like really wonderful people, and I wish you the best because you really deserve it. Never give up on your dreams, and just wanted to tell you we couldn't be more thankful. For everything, for your pride, for your humility, for braving to awaken your brother who probably sleeps till the shine suns... ahem, you get what I mean. I mean, for taking him along. *nods* You may have not noticed, but you've garnered your own following; what's become of Crimson? (By the way, is that Harvard related? Heh, sorry, ivy junkie here.) Dear Andrew,
I want to add my voice to the chorus: thanks for bringing your brother David to the AI auditions in Omaha; for getting him up before dawn, dragging him out the door, standing in the rain in the long audition lines. By following your dream, you gave your brother another way to live his. And he has; so will you. I find your brother inspirational, for his focus, his musical talent, and his groundedness. Clearly you share these attributes! I wish you and your whole family well; may peace be yours, may joy be yours, and may your dreams come true in as unexpected a fashion as they did for David.

Hey Andrew, I just want to add my thanks to the growing chorus. It says a lot about your family, especially all that you have gone through with your other brother, that you have taken all of this insanity so gracefully. When you encourged David to enter the AI auditions, even though you were obviously aware of his talent, you could never have know what a huge impact that audition would have on your family and now millions around the world. David was clearly a superstar waiting to be discovered, and your loving support of his journey has been inspiring to see. I know the media is talking about your brother living your dream, but everyone has their own dreams, and whatever yours are at this time, I hope they all come true as grandly as David's have. Your lovely mother and dad obviously raised you guys right!

Andrew, thank you for being mature enough to support your brother even when it was YOUR dream in the beginning. Without you, he wouldn't have been catapulted into the music industry; he would still be working at The Blank Slate making bad drinks and playing music whenever he could. He couldn't have won AI without YOU and the rest of your wonderful family and we, as fans, will always be thankful to you for that.
I also want to thank you and your family for really being the TRUE AMERICAN IDOLS. I have never seen such a supportive, wonderful, loving family displayed on television. It's role models like you that families today should be looking up to when they are struggling to get by. When you have family, you have everything.

Dear Andrew,
Words can not express my gratitude for the blessing that you helped bring into my life through DC. I was living my life oblivious to this amazing talent hundreds of miles away. Then one night I had the TV on and I hear the voice of the next american idol. Yes, I knew from the moment "Tommy worked on the docks" that DC would be the next idol. He truly has a God-given gift that has touched my soul and I will never be the same.
I'm awed by your love for him, to push him forward even though your dream had been crushed. A pure act of unselfishness for which I will be forever indebted to you.
Best of luck next season!!!

Andrew,
What is there to say except THANK YOU SO MUCH! I guarantee that you probably have just as big a fan-base here as David does. After all, you were the one who [unintentionally] brought him to us! ... I mean, gosh, I just don't know what to say! I'm at a loss for words right now so I apologize if I begin to sound a bit repetitive. Like it or not, you, sir, have blessed America (no, the world) with our current American Idol. You should be very proud. Not only of your brother, but of yourself. If it weren't for you, none of the however million people who watch American Idol could have been introduced to such an amazing singer. It's incredible how supportive you have been throughout this season, even if David really had no intention of auditioning at all.
Thank you for giving a more optimistic meaning to "this is all your fault."
This is the very first year that I've truly and honestly gotten attached to the show, the first year I've actually cared about who America voted for. And it's all your fault.
I can't think of anything else to say but thank you.
I sincerely wish you and both of your brothers the best.
Take care and much love,

Hey Andrew,
What a good brother you are! I just wanted to say thanks for making David come along with you for moral support that day of the auditions. He means a lot to a lot of people and as he said, "It's your fault". Over here at d-c.org we love you about as much as David. Your selflessness and support for your brother have left us all feeling a little bit better about the world. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm sure your talent will carry you very far also. I don't know what else to say except thank you. Oh..and good job kicking David's butt at Madden!
