Full Version: Feeling nostalgic....
David Cook > David Cook > All About David Cook

So, the hubby is out of town and I admit to being a bit drunk on David Cook and red wine (can anyone say "perfect world"???????). I've been re-watching a bunch of Youtube videos and just want to publicly recognize "Hello"" as being the big DC moment for me (saying "He had me at Hello is so cliche). I was never an AI fan and just happened to have the TV on FOX when he came out and KILLED Lionel Riche's "Hello"- I haven't been the same since!

"Hello" was also the moment David got me hooked.

I'm sitting here watching all of the performances, from start to finish...I know, I'm a loser...but what else was I supposed to do with my new found free time since we don't have to vote?? laugh.gif

I know, I miss him tonight! I used to be like this when I was single- like "this time last week we were in the car heading to dinner". Now, I'm half into a bottle of red wine, my kids are in bed, my husband is out of town and I am thinking "this time last week I was just wrapping up a fevered night of DC and voting!". *sigh*

It's funny, because "Hello" was also the night I fell hard, head-over-heels for David. I had liked him before, but he wasn't my favorite. From that night on, I couldn't vote for anyone else. And like you said, it's cliche but I made a picture of David singing that song and it says You had me at Hello. lol

I spent a lot of time re-watching his performances this past weekend too. I really enjoyed watching him sing "All Right Now" and I LOVE that one. I forgot about it until I re-watched it, but David and Simon got into it a bit. That was the week David confessed to being a Word Nerd, and Simon dissed him and said that doesn't impress him. David replied with "Well it's the American public I need to impress, not you exactly." and Simon didn't like it so much. I loved seeing the feisty side of David. And of course, I loved his bit about being a word nerd when he listed a few of the words in his expansive vocabulary...he made me proud to be a Word Nerd!!

I just noticed that as I was watching "Always Be My Baby", I was leaning TOWARD my computer screen. I had no idea I was doing it LoL I guess he really does suck me in laugh.gif

OOh, I wish my hubby would go out of town for a few days. I have to keep other tabs open on my browser so
I can pretend I'm doing something else when he walks by. Not that he'd do anything about it, but he **would**
pout. LOL.

David had me at Hello too. That did it in for me - I do remember watching him with one eye during "All Right Now" because I remember he talked back to Simon and Simon wasn't too happy with it. smile.gif

Ever since then I watched Idol fairly religiously to get my DC fix and then started voting once it got down to the top.....8 I think?

And -- is it just me, or would anyone else love to hear a full version of that song?
MontanaWordNerd
Oooh me me me me!! I would ADORE a full version of "Hello" from David!!!!!! biggrin.gif
cookie-monster
I would listen to a full version of ANYTHING by David Cook. He could sing a bicycle manual and i'd be in heaven. The man has power in his voice

The moment for me was All Right Now. His trusty Les Paul was really sexy and his hair and the black... OMG!

Before that I just knew him as the spunky rock dude from missouri. I actually had a crush on jason castro first but he got boring.

My other faves have been Hello, Day Tripper, Billie Jean, Innocent, Music Of The Night, I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, Dream Big and Sharp Dressed Man. Yes I know, can't choose.

My all time fave one though is Always Be My Baby. I don't like that song in its original form but OMG! DC made it a new song completely.

Also this is the first of only two times DC made me cry. The other one was I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, only because its my favest song in the whole universe.

As an ode to my love for DC I have a singing concert that I'm doing in a few months - I'm going to sing Innocent. I love Our Lady Peace now.

I love Idol nostalgia, its only been a week.

Holy hell, its Idol time over here in Australia.

I made a DVD of every DC performance - Audition to Winner. The judges predicted the future so many times. DC winning I mean.

He transformed so much.

I miss him so much, hence the DVD, the CD and love of this forum.

i knew david cook. i noticed him come hollywood week. but i didn't dig him as much as i did with MJ back then. and then there was HELLO. classic. he did a slightly emo version of a pop, extremely pop lionel richie song.! (yer right, dawg) right then and there i knew i was in for a gooood ride. and hell yeah. now he's your newest american idol. laugh.gif

The big moment for me was, honestly, his audition. He had me at "Tommy Use To Work On The Docks".. BUT I will say that "Hello" is the moment that I knew HE would make it all the way. He took my breath away, gave me chills up and down my arms, AND made me glad to be a woman!

Isn't it AMAZING re-watching David's AI performances? Now when I re-watch, I'm kinda blown away by the fact that I'm watching THE American Idol, whereas before I was watching the guy I was rooting for and really wanting to WIN!

The thing about David Cook is that he doesn't just SING a song, he PERFORMS it. He emotes the songs he does really really well. I also really liked how he would very intently look at each of the judges as they gave their critique. It came across as if he really wanted to hear what they had to say, giving them his undivided attention. It came off as respectful. I didn't really like when he tried to answer Simon back after All Right Now, I understand why he felt like he needed to speak up but he learnt from that and didn't repeat it since then. Classy guy!

It's like Paula said, women like smart men! And what was Simon thinking when he said David had no charisma?
My jaw just dropped when he said that.

I think that's one of the many reasons he's so hot is that he's smart. I loved it when he said he was a "word nerd"
and in the film they showed him sitting on the floor absorbed in a crossword. I thought, "cool, this is a guy I can
identify with, a brainy rocker". He just grew on me week after week as I saw his amazing versatility and
performance skills.
