I have to admit that he had me at his audition in Omaha, NE..... There was something intoxicating about him and when he sang Bon Jovi, the expression on his face was like 'OMG, I HAVE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN AND AWOKE TO AN ANGEL SINGING TO ME'......I know Im obsessed, sorry, but it really is David's fault..lololololl

I would like to know when he got YOU...

Since his audition *nod*
Jenney
Here is my progression, all the way from "gee, he's good" to total cookification, which
occurred at the Music of the Night performance:

1. The audition performance. Hmm, he's got a good voice, glad they put him through.
2. The Hollywood performance.
Jeez, what's wrong with you, really, Simon? He's good, with or without the guitar.
Randy and Paula get it!
3. DC sings All Right Now.
The interview film: cool, a word nerd. I love crosswords too!
The performance: Wow, that was pretty damn good, smart, great voice and stage presence to boot.
The judges: Jeez, Simon, get a clue! No charisma???? Are you nuts?
Thank you Paula!!! Women DO like smart men!
4. DC sings Hello.
Wow. Just wow. We're talking top 3 here for sure, he's amazing.
Still like MJ and Archuleta, but I think DC is even better.
6. DC sings Billie Jean.
Cook is a star! I think he's going to win this thing!
7. DC sings Music of the Night.
Music selection is announced. I groan. Oh, no, David, don't sing that sappy song, please.
David sings MOTN. OMG! I'm lost in Cookieland from here on out.
Not only is he a rock star, he's just amazing, amazing, that voice, that stage presence, unbelievable.
Can't wait each week for next DC performance, think about it all week.

It's done. Cookification is complete!
cookiemonstrrofrock
He showed he was a contender from day 1.

However the "Hello" performance was the turning point of the entire AI season.

He showed Archie he was in the race that day and I think Archie started to slip up a bit.

"Hello" was where he showed he can take simple pop songs and make them rock anthems.
ajpr2
I loved him at his audition. I always like the "different" ones. Then in Hollywood... wow. All my neighbors and friends thought I was crazy, but I was hooked from Day One. wub.gif

And to think Simon went from saying "No" to picking DC to go all the way. I'd love to hear Simon's true progression.
BabyEmza
When he sang Billie Jean i was like OMFG! That boy can sing.
Then when he sang Music Of The Night i just melted. I mean how many guys are there that - look like him, can sing Phantom of the opera AND look damn good doing it?
annie702
He was interesting from the beginning because I was impressed to hear such a great voice and manner of speaking from someone who looked so...weird wink.gif ...sorry, still not digging the red faux hawk and argyle.
His hollywood audition was memorable (and cute look) and he was my favorite guy since top 24. Thanks to a dreamy Hello, he overtook my favorite girl for the overall #1 spot and stayed there thanks to Eleanor Rigby and the rest.

The moment he spoke to my heart? it was exactly at the final note of "...let me start by saying I love you-ooo". something snapped in my chest.
RockChick007
When he first sang Happy Together. I was like "Wow! This guy can sing! He completely won me over with his take on Lionel Richie's Hello.
Kasey
from the first time i saw him i liked him. i thought he had a great voice and was really talented. but it wasnt until top 9 i think that he really popped out to me. i can remember that day...

i was at my grandmas house in MO for a visit ( im a CA girl) and i walked down from upstairs cause AI was on. i saw david performing and i was like WOW. dude where did this guy come from. he looked amazing with his hair cut. he was singing and i just melted. that is when i became an obsessed word nerd and cookie fan. the time he he totally just stood out to me. i knew he would win from that time on.

kasey
Rheanne
He grabbed my attention right in the beginning at the auditions in Ohama.
Nicole Marie
I was a fan since he auditioned because I absolutely loved the tone of his voice... BUT he was kind of a second runner for me... I totally was taken aback by the soulfulness of Michael Johns' voice. But after DC sang Hello... forget it. He had my vote from then on.
bioguy
My initial reaction from the first audition was that he was a nice looking guy with a mellow voice and later I thought he was one of the most interesting contestants. But, Hello was a revelation to me as it was to many of his fans. David has said it was a turning point for him too in terms of letting his emotional guard down. And that vocal! Holy cow. I was mesmerized by his musicianship, stage presence and voice from that point on. I thought, finally AI has found an authentic idol.
christina8526
Thank you everyone that has stopped by and responded to this. I really appreciate it and I know that alot of people have read this and thought about what we all have typed, and are probably thinking this question to themselves as well....

Once you come to that conclusion, please allow yourself to come in here and show with everyone else...

I honestly feel this is the best place for all of David's fans to come and share their stories...

God Bless and have a WONDERFUL DAY!!!!

rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif He got to me when he did the Beatles. Then Neil Diamond. And he knocked my socks off with Music of the Night. I just love his voice and stage presence!
voodoogirl
he got me when i heard his singing the song always be my baby... laugh.gif
xx cookie crazed
he had me during mariah carey week when he sang "always be my baby" and cried. oh the face. oh the hair. oh the voice! he had me hook, line and sinker at that point. C:
MDlovesDC
Hi Everyone....this is my first post! I LOOOOVEEE David Cook! I guess you can say "he had me at Hello"...lol
:-)
dcfanmc
I didn't see the auditions...but everything after that impressed me.

What finally sealed it for me was Music of the Night...I realized, Wow! He really CAN sing EVERYTHING! And make it his own! cool.gif
joy1130
In the auditions i thought he was really good and thought that he could make it to the last round. then when he sang the happy together song, that was when i was crushed into him. i was like 'ow! that guy is gorgeous!', then i started to look forward to seeing him each week. then he told that he was a wordnerd, god! i love intellectual guys. so i was like freaking out when simon told him that he was boring and not charismatic. simon got that wrong, i love him coz of that. and then i was overly crazy over cook when he sang hello. he just didn't break me, but he crushed and smashed me that time. i love those smiles while singing and looking straight to the camera. oh god! he is super gorgeous and talented when he did always be my baby. and i couldn't just get enough of him!
Pam08
I think MOTN was IT and there was no turning back for me! biggrin.gif

Word Nerd #1837 here.

From the beginning. I liked his voice and his look but I didn't know what kind of chance he'd have.

Then came Hello, the haircut, Billie Jean and ABMB and I knew there was no stopping him!
hookedoncook
He got my attention at the auditions. His voice was amazing and although I didn't think he was "hot" there was still something about him that I was attracted to. Hollywood week was even better and then when he sang "All Right Now" I was shouting how "Hot" he was from the rooftop! I would have dreamed back then that he would continue to get hotter and hotter each week. It was an amazing journey to witness.
christina8526
Thanks everyone for leaving your messages

He had me when he first auditioned. I just fell in love with his amazing voice. And also he was just so hot as well wub.gif
letticea
He had me at the auditions in Omaha. I remember saying to my mum "I think I like him" and well.... it went from there!

TamiCook
He had me before "Hello" but once I heard him sing "Always be my baby" I knew i would always be his baby.
EmmieBelle_07
It's kind of ironic how I got hooked on David Cook.
I hadn't really watched the show since season 3, and neither did my sister, but she started watching again in season 7. And her and I never like the same people so when I heard her talking about two contestants, David C. and David A., I was like I guess I'll like whoever she doesn't like.
I thought she told me she liked David Archuleta.
And I was like okay I'm gonna watch the show tonight and listen to this guy that she likes, and then listen to the guy she doesn't like, and this was Mariah Carey week.
I saw David A. and I was like, WOW he's really good, I see why she likes him, and then I was like okay well I wanna watch this David C. to see what he's like, I didn't even know his last name yet.
So I watched the little video of David C meeting Mariah, and practicing the song, and I was like is this guy for real?
And then.................
I heard him sing.
And that was it.
I thought my sister was crazy for liking Archuleta, and when I saw her I was like "are you crazy why don't you like cook", and she was like, I do like david cook, i never said i liked david archuleta.
But I was already in love David Cook at this point, so for once my sister and I liked the same Idol, and we were both so excited when he won, and I'm like it's a complete fluke that I just happened to watch the show that night just to see this guy who I thought I would like because my sister didn't like him.

But anyways......"Always Be My Baby" got me hooked on cook.
hot cooking
After the auditions, I liked MJ (amazing soulful voice that never lived up to the audition for me), Ramiele (I'm tiny too and she had a huge voice, but again never lived up to the audition) and David Cook (great voice, really interesting and certainly not in the AI image which intrigued me). The first week he was fairly ignored, Ryan giving him one sentence. I loved his take on Happy Together but I wasn't yet a goner. The second week he did the piece on being a word nerd with I absolutely loved. Then he came out and sang All Right Now (yup I'm a 70's cougar) and his voice took me places no woman should go alone. It was at that point that I started voting (something I'd never bothered to do before except for maybe 8 votes in season 2). I just had to hear him again, see him again. I still can't get enough of the man!
Cook Fan Forever
I was a big fan in Season Five.
Hadn't watched much besides that Season.
Well, Season 7 came along and my initial favorites were Brooke, David Cook and Jason.
When David Cook sang Hello, that was IT for me. biggrin.gif He was my favorite hands down from there on out.
I also started to really like Archie the last few weeks. He loosened up and has a great voice.
bestCookaround
I realized I was hooked on the show when Simon told him he had no charisma! I thought Simon must be crazy 'cause all you had to do was look at that half smile and he was oooooozzzzzing CHARISMA!

I would like to know when he got YOU...

I liked him at the start but it really wasn't a particular performance when I realized...it wasn't even watching A.I. but I knew he had me when I paid attention to the Kansas City Royals' (I'm an avid Atlanta Braves fan) score when it scrolled by on ESPN. That's when I knew I was in trouble. laugh.gif
davidcooksguitargurl
Well, he definitely had at his audition. I just knew he had the talent to make it big! Then, when I saw him sing "Hello," he so melted my heart.

I just thought he was BEYOND amazing after that.

I had voted a couple times before, but after that, I voted NON-STOP and I have been COOKIFIED since then!
mrsdavidcook75
yes smile.gif he had me at hello, although i really liked the crossword interview bit!

haha, i agree. i liked him from the start. but the MOMENT he sang Music of the night.
holy mother of....i was hooked XD

OverEasy
The first time I EVER watched AI - on youtube - was Top 24 week, just out of curiosity. Three people were interesting enough for me to come back next week - David Cook, Jason Castro, and Amanda Overmeyer. I really liked his voice and his moves those first 2 shows (Happy Together and All Right Now), but when he sang Hello and looked right at me *gasp* ... right after that, I noticed a sharp change in my sleep and thought patterns ... oy.

This is my first post here. I am not, and never have been a fan-club person. I do not obsess about celebrities. I am a clear-headed, down-to-earth accountant and mother of 4. dry.gif blink.gif unsure.gif

I am in denial. rolleyes.gif

Unfortunately, I think Cook may actually become an A-list rock star, and I will follow him where-ever he goes like a dependent, happy puppy. sheesh. wacko.gif

I think there are alot of us that got cookified at the top 6 by MOTN! Up to then I was really
liking him, great rocker, I figured he'd be in the final. Especially after MJ went out at top 8,
David was the one I wanted to win. DC and MJ were my guys. Then with MOTN, that's when
I realized he was more than just a really good rocker. The whole package!

I mean, just listen to Hungry Like the Wolf, and then immediately listen to MOTN. How many
singers could pull that off? A rock star performance followed by a theater ballad. Both
out of this world.
voodoogirl
i got hooked to cookie 2 days before the AI finals. i didnt know who is he, until a day that i heard the radio playing his version of 'always be my baby' and i was hook to that voice. that was how i knew about cookie!!

laugh.gif
ItsCookie4Me
I did not see the auditions but the first week, I was Cooked!

As my WN name suggests.... Had Me B4 Hello Word Nerd! rolleyes.gif

welcome me here im one of the cookies and word nerds happy.gif
xXChuckXxSP
He got my attention with that darn faux-hawk...
(Ask anybody who knows me... I have a strange obsession with 'hawks. laugh.gif)
But when he truly reeled me in was during 'All Right Now'.
AndrealuvsDavid
yeah when they first showed him i was like he's georgeous! then he sang and i was like he's even better!!!
albacookie
I loved his audition cos I'm a huge Bon Jovi fan. It was a close thing between DC and MJ till Always be my Baby and then I couldn't take my eyes off Cookie!
Jetergirl
First of all, Hi, just found this site :-D. I'm Alex

anyways, like most people, he had me at 'hello'. I actually missed the performaces the weeks before...so who knooows. But anyway, I got so excited knowing he was going to sing it b/c I'm strange and love that song, and the way he did it.. AH! Then when he did Eleanor Rigby, I was done. I had liked Michael Johns initially after auditions (mainly b/c I have such a thing for Aussie accents) but that was it. I argued with my hair dresser after the performance b/c she hated how he 'ruined' a Beatles song and I loved it so much.

But yea. Thats my deal
hotforcookie
I was hooked from Omaha. I knew I was hearing the next American Idol. I even said to other people in the room " OH MY GOD THAT GUY IS GOING TO WIN." They just looked at me lilke I was crazy. After all it was only the auditions and he hadn't even made it through yet......well who is laughing now.

ABMB was when he had all of me......he was able to transport back in time when I used to be someone's "Baby". That song will always be special for me. I have never heard Mariah Carey's version. I would never had known that it was her song if she wasn't the mentor that week. It is so haunting the way DC arranged it. Brings me to tears!!! wub.gif

I honestlly haven't listened to any other music except for DC.....I have the AI performances and studio recordings along with Analog Heart everywhere. In fact when I'm at work, I leave DC playing at home for the dogs. laugh.gif
JerseyGirl2
I thought he was pretty good at auditions, couldn't stand the hair though. I admit Michael Johns was the one I was rooting for after auditions and hollywood..

Then came Hello, and I started telling people at work, I'm really liking David Cook.

Then came Billie Jean, and I kept telling people at work, I'm REALLY liking David Cook.

Then came the haircut -- gasp, he's really cute, I knew the stylists would get a hold of him and fix him up.

Then came Music of The Night --OMG I melted melted melted!!!!

Fully cookified after seeing him cry on The World I Know, and at the finals, and listening to his interviews and and and....
overcooked
MJ fan at the beginning. And became a Cook convert during the top 16. I was stunned with his HELLO performance. I was cookified from then on.
abeelscookie
I am a huge Bon Jovi fan and have been all my life, when he rocked livin on a prayer I totally sat up and paid attention to him. Each week I liked him more and more. Hello almost knocked me on the floor, when I was done mopping up the drool from that he hit with day tripper. But it was really little sparrow where I was lost forever in the green eyes of the cookie. I haven't been seen since.
babe1941
LOLOL! I didn't know what to expect when he came out with his dorky sweater at his audition, but then he opened his mouth and sang like an angel! O~M~G!!! It was him or Michael Johns... I loved in his audition when he said, I'm the next American Idol! WHO KNEW! OMG... it came true!

I was like a fish on a hook and his vocals kept reeling me in! laugh.gif tongue.gif

Out of all the auditions that AI showed, David definetely stood out to me!
From the way he looked, to his voice, he had me right then and there.
But it wasn't until he started performing on the stage that I knew he was THE ONE.
smile.gif
Lou Piner
From the beginning when he auditioned in Omaha. I live in Omaha and thought it was cool that someone who tried out here was going to be in the top 24. The minute he started to sing Hello, I was completely hooked. I love everything about him, his voice, his personality, his wit, his sensativity. He is the whole package!!!!
