I love the studio versions of his songs, but i especially loved the live performances when it was a little less clean and a little more entertaining.
my personal favorite is in day tripper when he adds an "yeah" right after the first time he sings the chorus. it's such a tiny little syllable, but i swear to god, it makes my stomach clench every time. i also love in "still haven't found" when he goes "CMON". that makes me want to yell "I'M COMING DAVID!!!!"
what was your favorite little personalized moment?

I don't know that it's a personalized moment, but I love the performance versions too...especially Day Tripper...my favorite part is how he sings teaserererer

the studio version is good too, but in that one he sings teaeaeaser with the emphasis on ease. I prefer the emphasis on er in the live performance! just a little thing but a huge difference to my ears!!!!! My other favorite performance being Always Be My baby...so genuine and unique! On the other hand though I prefer the studio version of Innocent over the performance version!

Even though I love both studio and live versions of 'Billie Jean,' when he sings it live, I love how he goes all over the place with the notes. I'm not sure how to explain it. He just takes words and draws them out and it gives me major goosebumps.
And with 'Always Be My Baby,' I thought he had much more emotion in the live version. The studio version is beautiful, but live is heartfelt.
My favorite studio song is 'Don't Wanna Miss a Thing' at the very very end of the song, when he goes "I don't wanna miss a thangg." I always sing that part the loudest

I love the "c'mon" in "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", but I also love the live performance of "Music of The Night". Even though it's not the whole song, something about his voice in the live performance is so much more...sultry than the studio version. xD

The way he performs the line "or is someone lovin' you," toward the end of Hello. His facial expression looks almost like he is singing that line as an accusation. The first time I saw it I just thought he was turning on the sex appeal, but now to me it really looks as if he is about to curl his lip in accusing the person he is singing about of playing around. It is fascinating, and it is one of the reasons his performance of that song is so magnetic.

Agree on the "C'mon" thing... I lost it at that one!... and when he sings "Creep" the (achem) profanity at the beginning is just sooooo individual...and I agree about the "Is someone loving you" he seems to be gritting his teeth in that part like he's ready to pound his fist! He could say just about anything and I'd melt but when he gets gritty I think he's just ...well.....THUD!

I do also love the "C'mon" on SHFWILF! It made me stood up! And join DC on that very moment!

Hmmmm, I love the "Give Back" on his palm on his performance.. Innocent, too. Can I call it a "
personalized" moment? (I don't think so..)

ME TOO!!!!!
That's my favorite part. I can just rewind it and listen to that all day.
And you're so right the facial expression, makes it like he wrote that song, and was singing it to someone he loved.
I swoon over David's performance of this song

In the live performance of ABMB, DC sings "
You will linger on" instead of "
We will linger on" and it's so powerful and amazing.
I also agree about the "or is someone loving you" in Hello. Sounds like he's insinuating "Even if someone else is loving you, you know they could never be better than me." Probably true.

There are a lot of fave moments, but one of the best I think is when he sang the first line of Baba O'Riley...."Out here in the fields..." It still gives me chills when I hear it.
And you don't really here many people mention it, but I also loved his performance on Neil Diamond week of "All I really need is you" Another chills moment.
Ok...one more and I'm done! lol After he sang "Always be my baby" it was the first time I actually wanted to give a standing ovation from my living room couch lol

As a Mariah Carey fan, the entirety of ABMB is definitely the best personalization to me.
I especially love the very last note when he slips into the lower register on the second syllable of "baby"
It leaves it with that haunting feeling. It's just.... ahhhhh <3

I too would have to say Always Be My Baby.
David not only personalised it - he totally owned the song!

That is my favorite. It's almost like he's mad because he knows someone else is there and he's not! At the end of that song he actually touches the mic with his lips. I really wanted to be a microphone just then!

I agree -- All I Really Need is You is just terrific -- wish THAT had been done in a longer, studio version instead of I'm Alive, but oh well -- at the time, they were so rushed it's amazing that those studio versions got done at all let alone that they turned out so well. I'd love to be listening to that or DC's version of I Don't Want to Miss a Thing on the radio! I even went back and listened to the Aerosmith original on YouTube -- DC's is just as great, and I wish more people could hear it.

OMG I LOVE "ALL I REALLY NEED IS YOU"..too bad there isn't a studio version of it
He sang it soooo beautifully I die every time I hear it lolz.
AND OMG THE FIRST NOTE OF "INNOCENT" LIVE WAS TOOOOOO ORGASMIC FOR WORDS!!!

OLP's "Innocent" has always been a favorite and I couldn't believe when he started singing it, so I hung on every note. One of my most favorite little DC twists is the way he gave the words "a war" a little falsetto twist. Just a small touch of David. Now when I listen to the original (and I really like Raine Maida), "every calorie's a war" sounds flat.

I am in love with that one awesome long note that came out of nowhere when he sand "Billie Jean" live on Idol...that note is amazing and the way he holds the mic as he's belting it out...I love it...my favorite moment by far! You should go back and watch it...it makes goosebumps!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_aiawC-9aMIts the note between...1:32 and 1:42...and that thing he does with the mic as he's singing that note is awesome for some strange reason!

Yep...it's the Billie Jean note for me too. I love the studio version because it is longer, but I miss that note - he just belted it out and when he took it up a notch it was awesome.
(I tried to see if I could hold the notes in the studio version when I was driving around in my car - windows up of course - and I reckon I was about to bust a few blood vessels in my brain!! I just about had to pull over - I was near on having a myocardial infarction- gettin'myself all dizzy and sweaty!! I do not reccommend attempting this while driving!!

I would really like to hear a full version of Switchfoot's "Dare You to Move" - the 2 minutes he did on Idol was a definate tease. His version was so far better then the original.

I think one of my favorites is on Music of The Night, where he sings "where you want to beeeeee", then pulls the mike away so that it kind of echoes and then just stops short, then holds silence for a beat and THEN hits you with full force CFM eyes singing "only then, can you belong to me..." ****major THUD each time******
Another, on Eleanor Rigby, when he throws out his arms on "aaaahhh, look at all the lonely people"..

Hey yeah I definitely loved that he changed around "Always be My Baby." If I was Mariah Carey, I would be proud of David doing my song like that. He knew what he was doing that's why he won! He needed to raise the bar a little bit for AI. Next year will be dull now the expectations are so high. I don't want to audition because I know I can never live up to what David did. He's the best!

All my fav's have been mentioned i.e. Billie Jean, Hello, ABMB, especially MOTN except for my absolute #1 fav:
When he sang "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and he sings "your face" 3 times at the end, the third time gives me chills everytime I hear it. If I remember correctly, I fell off the couch when I heard it that night.

I love in the world i know when he sings "and TEARS ROLL DOWN" when he sang that on idol he put a little more emphasis on that then when he did it again on ellen or the wal mart or UCLA concerts if you listen to it....it just sounds like he tired that much harder and gave it his all cause it would be the last song he ever sang on idol.....It tears me up every time

I agree - I loved his performance of MOTN but I felt it lost a little of it's intensity in the studio recording - still love it though!
