Holy crap, it took me hours to put together, but here it is, this week’s Giant F*cking Idol's Billboard update! Whew! I covered David Cook’s major takeover of the Billboard Charts in this post, but there’s more!

Before I summarize the charts, Kirsten found some interesting stats on the Idol downloads, and I want to share them, ’cause they are pretty impressive.

* Idol generated more than 1.5 million sales in the four days after the finale show.
* Winner David Cook was most popular. He sold 942,000 downloads alone, or more than 60% of the total.
* The 1.5 million Idol sales worked out to be about 25% of all sales last week in the USA.
* According to Kirsten’s calculations, Cookie sold 15.7% of all downloads in the US last week. Archie sold 5.4% of all US downloads.

Here’s the breakdown of the other Idols who sold downloads last week:

* Runner-up David Archuleta sold 323,000 downloads.
* Jason Castro with 64,000
* Brooke White with 47,000
* Michael Johns with 40,000
* Carly Smithson with 33,000
* Syesha Mercado with 18,000
* Kristy Lee Cook with 10,000
* Chikezie with 5,000

* “Time of My Life” not only hit #3 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot Digital Songs chart. It’s also placed #6 on the Pop 100, #1 on Hot Digital Tracks, #30 on Hot Adult Contemporary, #1 on Hot Canadian Digital Singles, and #2 on the Canadian Hot 100.
* David Cook has a total of 11 songs on the Hot 100, 14 on Hot Digital Songs, and 6 songs on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. He also has 16 songs on the Pop 100 (he recorded 17 songs in all), 9 songs on Hot Digital Tracks, 11 songs on Hot Canadian Digital Singles, and 11 songs on the Canadian Hot 100.
* David Archuleta has 3 songs, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me”, “Imagine” and “In This Moment” each on the Hot 100, Bubbling Under Hot 100, Hot Digital Songs, Hot Canadian Digital Singles and Canadian Hot 100. Those 3 songs plus “Longer” chart on the Pop 100. “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” and his two versions of “Imagine” chart on Hot Digital Tracks.
* Jason Castro’s “Hallelujah” is #13 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles and #94 on the Pop 100.
* Jordin Sparks new single “One Step at a Time” debuts at #8 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles, #61 on the Pop 100 and #92 on the Canadian Hot 100.
* Kellie Pickler’s latest single “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful debuts at #56 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Wow, thanks for all the information, Pam. It's very interesting and complete.

I wondered, could you clarify ...
What are David's 16 songs on the chart? What I mean is, Does that include Analog Heart and Axium?
Or are those 16 all Idol-related songs?

During the many weeks of Idol competition, iTunes did not include the Idol contestants' sales in their posted figures, so as not to influence voting.
But I was always very curious about who and what was selling on iTunes each week ... (the Idol performance videos, studio versions, etc -- which were removed from the market after 5/21).
Has iTunes ever released those sale figures?

David's studio versions were so good!

A big thank you to Pam and Kristen for putting together all the figures.

Thats such an impressive showing by David. He's completely dominated the chart this week and out-sold the rest of the Idols by a wide margin. Well done David. Your talent shines through.

Lets hope he breaks another record when his first album is released.

I wish we could find out the actual figures all through AI. I'm sure those would make very impressive reading too and put David in a league of his own.

That is all of his Idol songs. smile.gif The stats on the other songs hadn't been released until now along with the first 4 day sales #'s of Time Of My Life (from Thursday-Sunday). This coming Wednesday, we will see what this song looks like after a full week. smile.gif
