Full Version: Will DC's Fall Album Have Songs From Analog Heart
David Cook > David Cook Debut Album > "Self Titled" Album Discussion

I'm curious, being Analog Heart is still relatively unknown, whether any songs from it will be on his next album. Being he is going to record this album in a matter of a few months...despite his extremely busy schedule...I can see where it might be tempting to do so. There are some amazing songs on that LP and they could be beneficial in many ways. I absolutely love the rock vibe of "Let Go".

Honestly, I don't think so. David will be writing some music and some other singer/songwriters will be brought into the writing process. A lot of folks have said not to look for any of the material from that CD to show up on his album. I think it will all be new material.

I'm guessing it will be all new material too. I'm just amazed...considering he will perform sometimes 4 days in a row during the tour...how he will get the time or not be worn down vocally. I'm sure it will be a mix of his own writing....and I know the guy from One Republic along with Jesse McCartney will be writing too.

im actually Hoping he adds "let go" or "porcelain" to his new album. although he likes to do original material, those 2 songs (for me) are just a-mazing!!!(too good to not put on his new CD) smile.gif

I really don't think so, which is a shame (especially if it isn't re-released) because its so amazing, and i suppose lots of people will never hear it.
Syked for the new album though... it just means we get even more songs to play over and over smile.gif

He did state in one of this week's interviews (it think it was the Idolatry intvu with Slezak & Shaw) that he may include some Analog Heart songs if they work with the rest of the tracks. It all depends on how the album comes together, the feel, etc. He said, other than that, no new re-release planned for AH; he called it a past chapter in his life. I think strategically he and his label will do some heavy thinking on this before making any final decisions.

Ryan and Jesse wrote Bleeding Love together...and it's phenominal...I guess the AI peeps are hoping for a Leona-type success for David and are using the pair as a failsafe or something.....idk.

Lyrically, every single song on Analog Heart makes Bleeding Love sound like a steaming pile of poo. If Jesse is lucky, maybe David will write for him tongue.gif

While I'll be happy to hear some properly recorded versions of the songs off Analog Heart (the only bad thing about Analog Heart is the instruments are louder than the vocals but I guess this is better than nothing, considering this was paid off David-the-bartender's pocket), I doubt he'll use songs from it. As people mentioned, he said it was a past chapter in his life. And also, he keeps talking about progress in his music so I doubt he'll go back.

I did wonder if we will ever get to hear the songs he was working on for solo album no.2...

Yes, you're right, it was that inteview on Idolatry and it's been quoted on line in several blog and news items:

...are you going to re-release your indie album, "Analog Heart," or use any of the songs from there on your new record? "I've actually submitted some of those songs to be used on this record. We’re going to see where the vibe goes with the new stuff and see if they fit. As far as re-releasing, I don't think there are any talks right now. That record was great; I had a lot of fun making it, but I’d rather not dwell in the past. I think if the songs fit in with what I’m doing currently, great, but if not, that was just a moment in my life."

The interesting thing is that "Time of My Life" (which, by the way, has really grown on me) is probably less likely to fit in with the "vibe" of his new album! I hope the new record is closer to AH than to "Time of My Life." Regarding TOML, like I said, I really like hearing it when it randomly comes up on my ipod. I wonder if he's going to re-record it for the new album as an "album version." THat would give him the opportunity to remove (or replace) the magic rainbow lyric and maybe sweeten some vocals. I think he sounds great on the current release but he has stated he was exhausted, his voice was hurting, and it was the middle of the night when they recorded it last week. He might just spruce it up and extract the last remaining bits of syrup from it. If so, that will be a good ballad for the new album.

I kind of get the feeling that, like AH, he's submitting some of the songs he was working on for this. Why not. He's will likely also pen some new songs incorporating the emotions he's gone through these past 4 months, but if they have the right vibe and can be produced in a manner consistant with the other new stuff, I would say it's more than 50-50 that a couple of his recently written songs will appear. I kind of think that's how he's getting the new record out so quickly. I suspect the producers already like some of his new stuff and feel they're part of the way there already.

Thanks for the info, Scott. I guess that pretty much answers it. Being there are no plans to rerelease Analog heart at this time, and he did submit several songs from it to put on the next album, then there's a good chance that may happen. Since he has some great songs in his pocket, and only a short time to finish the album, it would only make sense to me to include a few. Can't wait to find out!

All the songs on Analog Heart are fantastic. Although, if I were to choose a few for his new album they would be Straight Ahead, The Truth, and Searchlights. Searchlights is my favorite on Analog Heart. It would even be cool if he put the cover of Billie Jean on the fall record!!!

Those are my 3 favorite songs on Analog Heart too! I think any of those could be great singles, especially Straight Ahead. And Billie Jean also, that song is just amazing...I'm actually stuck on it now, keep playing it over, and over, and over......
