Another fan from 'Bama! I just registered myself and this was practically the first thing I saw. Welcome!

I also think it's nice to get the male perspective on David. My stepfather and brother (who is David's age) both really like him too and were pulling for him to win.
Hey, Sister StarrySkies Surprise, thanks so much for the warm welcome. And welcome, welcome, welcome to you, too, my friend.
With regard to my perspective - as Simon said occasionally, "It's just an opinion." I think the kid is well-grounded and has a brilliant future ahead of him.
G'night, sister.

Welcome Bama:
So glad more guys are showing up. I felt like I was out here twisting in the wind all by my lonesome for a couple of weeks!
Am also glad you appreciate the word nerd issue. As a writer, I was really heartened by David's "admission" about crossword puzzles and vocabulary, etc. A lot of young people might follow David's example now, and it will only enrich their lives--and their future careers.
Funny, how wrong Simon got David a few times. Saying the word nerd thing wasn't cool for a rocker, and that he had no charisma. Geez. Maybe though, the charisma complaint is what spurred David to be more open and emotional on stage, hence his groundbreaking performance of "Hello." In fairness Simon did say some awesome things about him too, I guess.
Anyway welcome Bama.
Christopher
Hey there, Christopher. Yeah, I figger a bit of testosterone ought not to hurt these ladyfolk who abound here in this forum.
I work with young people in my profession, many of whom are outstanding writers. DC's character certainly has the potential to influence people of all ages. One young lady actually broached the topic of DC's "wordnerdiness" with me in the course of a discussion of allusion and word choice in one of her pieces. I thought that was pure-dee spectacular.
Thanks again, Brotherman.

Love the fact that you males are being brave! Welcome aboard!
Thanks, Nicole Marie!
Incidentally, and this is intended for the entire welcome wagon from the past couple days, I'm STILL waiting on that dang muffin basket! As Adlai Stevenson once promulgated, "Man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them."
