Full Version: Idiots pull Analog Heart from Amazon
David Cook > David Cook Debut Album > "Self Titled" Album Discussion

All these jerks did was take money out of David's pocket by stopping a legimate avenue to purchase the CD. Now it is rampantly available almost anywhere for free. Just search Google "David Cook Analog Heart" and you will find websites offering downloads. You can also find it via torrent websites and I bet it is available on the virus king Limewire.

Shame for their greed to want only their licensed songs available which is why they pulled Analog Heart. Don't they see the bigger picture that this exposure will help them make more money of David in the future? Record Execs are idiot non-musicians who think they know music because they like a nelly song and therefore they think they can run the industry. They get their pampered selves put through expensive schooling to become the people who decide what society is supposed to listen to and are clueless.

This is another example of how incompetent they are. People will get the album anyway so it is only David's loss.

I'm not surprised and in all honesty wouldn't be surprised if any of the songs from AH or his second solo album that was yet to be released end up making their way onto his first major label album. Fall 2008 is a very quick turn around considering they start rehearsing for tour next week and then go out on tour until mid September. And not for nothing, I'm pretty sure that Record-execs no a thing or two more about the music industry than any of us and about what sells and what doesn't. As David, has said in interview after interview, he just wants to make a record that's going to have staying power, he never said he was in it for the almighty dollar. And any exec who has watched the amazing amount of sales that AH had and not to mention that David has 10+ songs in the Top 100 songs in the country, they know that he's going to be a cash cow and has the talent to withstand on his own, so they'll let him have say in stuff. I doubt this is the last we've heard of any of the AH songs.

Hey kids!

I saw it on Ebay yesterday for over $500.00!! I wonder what David would think about that?

I have to in all honesty say I downloaded the album from the Internet about 2 months ago. I have made several copies and have one in my car, my house and my office!LOL I think it is a great album but I think paying that kind of money for it on Ebay is ridiculous especially if David rereleases it which I think he probably will once he is done with his Idol contract.

Peace,

There was someone on eBay who just bought an unopened Analog Heart album for more than $2000 US. Apparently the seller has 10 copies because they knew David before Idol and he was willing to sell it with most of the money going to ACS ... through Relay for Life

Here, I found it:

Just sold on ebay-one unopened copy from someone who knows David and had 10 copies originally.

Auction stated large amount of the proceeds going to charity Relay for Life- American Cancer Society!

It really jumped in the last minute- auc # 150254350668.

Description

Item Specifics - Music: CDs
Genre: Rock Album Type: Full-Length CD
Sub-Genre: Indie Condition: New

You are bidding on a sealed, in original packaging, unopened copy of David Cook's independently released album "Analog Heart". This album is out of print, and will not be produced again. My wife and I personally know David, and have supported his music for years. When "Analog Heart" was complete, David brought a box of them to Kansas City, and I bought ten copies. We gave them out to friends and family, partly to help David's music career, but mostly because this is one of the best albums produced in the past five years, hands down. This copy is part of the first pressing of this album (I believe only 250 copies were originally printed). You can tell because the song title "Porcelain" is misspelled as "Procelain"; see the item picture. We have three copies left, and intended to keep them forever. However, my mother, a cancer survivor, organizes a local Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society. She asked if we had any items to donate to auction, and we decided that we would auction one copy (sorry, we're keeping the other two!). A portion of the proceeds from this auction will go to benefit The Relay for Life. So please, bid with confidence. 2nd Day Shipping in the U.S. via UPS is free. Please contact me for international rates. I will ship the CD on the same business day as the Paypal payment hits my account. Good luck, and thanks! www.relayforlife.org/relay

From what David said in an interview a few weeks ago, he asked Amazon to remove the CD while he was on the show. They did and somehow it got put back on and so he contacted them again. I think he felt like it was giving him an unfair advantage over everyone else.

I'm so glad I got it before all this insanity started!! And my gosh, $500.00? That is COMPLETE madness!! :x

That money could be better spent on Idol tickets - traveling there, a hotel, good seats and everything :x

I bought a copy on Ebay...I think that people who had them and were willing to give them up had every right to charge whatever people were willing to pay! It's called capitalism, and I'm sure David would be totally in favor of it. And if he isn't, then he shouldn't have pulled the darned thing! His success is driven by his fans, and part of it is due to his accessibility. If he makes his works unavailable, for whatever reason, he'll lose support! We love him in part cuz he seems like one of us, NOT like some out of touch star...

I think the album will eventually be put back. In fact, if you do a search at Amazon under David Cook, you will see the album as one of the choices and it says they will notify you when it's available for pre-order. So, I think you will see it there again. I don't think David wanted backlash from the show's producers and such and wanted to play the contest fair so that the album didn't unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.

Good point, Pam! So wouldn't David have the authority to contact Amazon to release AH again??? I wonder why he has not done that??!??!

Well, I doubt he has the authority to do that since that was a project he did before idol and since now is under contract with 19 and RCA but someone who has more knowledge of the business would have to answer that. smile.gif

We are also not sure what legal constraints there are on him, ie ownership of released music. As for him pulling it, he was pretty much made to by the Idol folks, and holding that against him is kinda silly. And yes people are entitled to sell them for whatever they can, but I can say that if I were a friend and I owned it, I wouldn't be making a buck off my friend.

This album is only worth about $10.00 no more, no less. $300.00, $500.00, $2,000.00 is totally freaking stupid. blink.gif

Its funny how these people who are David's friends are getting semi-rich off of his work. They know exactly what they are doing. ohmy.gif

I legally purchased AH for about $10. I would also be very willing to part with $500 to buy an original AH album. I know David will get to see a little bit of my legal purchase, and nothing from an ebay purchase - but I would want the original CD for me - especially with the Porcelain spelling mistake. If anyone on ebay gets rich - then good luck to them. It is the world we live in and I don't think that any of us can lay judgement - we don't know what situations these people are in - and even if it is only to make a profit then so be it. Some of the ebay copies have had the total profits donated to charity.

What is not appreciated is the slanging that goes on if someone is in the financial position (thru much hard work in my case) to purchase what I believe is art for my own personal collection.

Each to their own everyone..we don't have to be cruel to each other.

Actually worth is in eye and the pocketbook of the buyer. You might only pay 10 because you feel that is what is its worth but other people might feel it is worth more. Capitalism =)
