Oh holy crap.... my street-cred may have hit rock bottom. Let me explain....
1- I'm 32 years old, which is rather late(er) in life to be this oppressively obsessed with a young man with an outstanding talent.
2- I have never, in 6 seasons, watched a single episode of American Idol. Not one. Not even to make fun of the early auditions. Reality tv leaves me cold, and if it wasn't for the Hollywood writers' strike having postponed my favorite scripted shows, I never would have been flipping through the channels looking for something to watch....
....and I never would have paused at some checked-sweater-vest-wearing, faux-hawk-sporting, Bon-Jovi-singing guy trying to impress Simon "shut your damned mouth, it was NOT a knockout" Cowell. I was the one down for the count, and the rather impressive make-over not-withstanding, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor on night one.
3- I have goth leanings. (And here is where I have to remember that it matters not what others think of me, even my own friends, but loving who I am and accepting thoses thing I truly enjoy and embracing them for myself.) Honest. The black eyeliner, the dark lipstick, the skull and crossbones accessories.... That's me. Not all the time; I bend my leanings for work and stuff, but when I'm me, I'm all "the most romantic song there is is 'Closer' by NIN.
For all that, I finally find myself >thisclose< to pinning pictures of this man to my apartment walls. If I had a locker, it would be plastered with bad poems dedicated to his very existance. In short?
I'm a David Cook fan. Right down to me Lincoln-Park-Black toenail polish.
Thank you, and goodnight.

I feel ya girl! I'm in the same boat. I'm much older than you so believe me...'age ain't nothing but a number' yes, it's cliche but so true! There's nothing like an intelligent, talented, passionate man to get your attention regardless of your age.

To both the replies above, I actually feel "relieved"! lol
My friends and family think I'm insane. Completely. Of course, my "gothy" friends, when they first see the pic on my MySpace page (the one that's my avatar, here; it's a still I found on Photobucket from the "Tainted Love" Ford Video commercials) ask me who the hotty is.... and then I explain and it's just one bad reaction after another.
Ever feel like this place could be a support group, too? *chuckle*

Hi
It was so funny reading your 'confession' You sound so similar to me!! I too am in my 30's with a penance for guys in black eyeliner (it's something i've never grown out of)
My husband is not impressed that i've put David as my wallpaper on my laptop (which is as near as i think is ok to putting posters on my wall)or with my teenage like obsession
No one here in Scotland seems to watch American Idol so they don't get who i'm talking about and the minute reality tv show and singer are mentioned they immediately write him off
The reaon i love him so much is the music that he already had done prior to Idol is amazing and i can't wait to hear more
Good to meet others that feel the same

ok, so i am older than you too but LOVE this guy! (40 is the new 30, right?)
from the beginning i knew he would soar. he just kept getting better and better...my 10 year old daughter also loves cookie, but her brother keeps telling her he is too old for her! i am obsessed, david cook 24/7 on my computer, IPOD, in the car. (my husband is not impressed)
managed to see him live at roc centre. his voice is awesome in person! my hubby was going to get me a tee shirt for the show that says "i'm here for my daughter' i guess not to embarrass myself!
glad to hear I am in good company.
