"I'm gonna do like a calypso jazz fusion record"

David said this jokingly in an interview, and we were discussing it a little in another thread with an unrelated title. What type of elements would you like to see him incorporate, anything besides pure rock? Some jazz, some ballads, whatever?

Any thoughts, anyone?

Yeah, I was just listening to the studio version of Little Sparrow, and as I listened I was thinking, he could do country too. Is there anything he couldn't sing? Music of the Night was a wonderful surprise for me. I'd love to hear him sing some old Paul Simon songs.

Oh Paul Simon would be awesome too! And Elvis! Being a big Elvis fan too, I would love to see what kind of arrangements he could come up with for that!

I just saw Celtic Thunder Tuesday night and immediately thought of David; he doesn't just sing- he tells a story w/ that booming voice of his. Pure unadulterated BLISS!

Yeah, I've been seeing them on the Amazon bestseller list when I check on David's presale status.
I like Celtic music. Ever seen Capercaille? Really liked them.

Anyway, I think it's good that his first album will be rock or pop/rock, but I'm thinking that like the Beatles he may evolve and add other influences in future releases. Hope so.

Likely he will. Time will reveal the mystery that is Mr. Cook! Ok by me, like surprises smile.gif

BTW, I'll just post this here; Can you add me to the word nerd # list? Do I use CareBear or my
email name (Carriboo9) or make up a brand new one? And how do I get that "starting to like Cookies"
off of my profile and change it to something else? Thanks.

Yes, I'll put you on the list, we use the username here at the site so it'll be CareBear.

You can't change that yet. When you get to a certain number of posts, it will change to "been cookified". Can't remember exactly how many, 50 or 100. Then I think it's when you hit 200 posts, you can have your own custom one.

I know it's not really a style, but I'm an avid listener of Steven Curtis Chapman, and I think David would be good at Magnificent Obsession (Youtube it if you don't know it). It's a very good song, and it has a special meaning for me. Strong Christian themes, but it's who I am.

i love it when he did Always Be My Baby, so i think he should do some track like that i guess... And when he saying Day Tripper, the studio recorded version has this intro thats all drums, (being a blake fan) it would b sooooo cool if he did that and balke beatboxed the beginning!

With his skill and range he can do a variety of things. I think that he can do very well with performing calypso as well as country and other types of music. I can see him doing R& B and be a blue eyed soul. He doesn't have to be limited.
