Please help me!! I have a new DC avi and a sig. banner now (thanks a billion, Bianca!!! ) But when I save the avi to My Pictures, it gets saved as a file (you can't see the actual pic, just a picture of a file). I hit browse anyways in My Controls, then open that file, but it says Error, I cannot use that file!! What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't My Pictures show his picture instead of one of a file? How can I get it to change to a pic of him? I tried both that Art setting and that BMP setting, or whatever.

Also, I've gotten an account on Photobucket now for the banner (I heard you have to have a place like Photobucket to place it in first--??). How do I go about transferring the banner to Photobucket and then to my signature in My Controls?? Sorry, I am SO not a computer nerd!! Please help me---aaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

What format is the avi in? (.jpeg, .bmp, .gif?) Maybe that has something to do with your issue on that?

As far as the banner goes, go to your Photobucket. Once you're logged in, you should see a box that says "Upload Images and Video". Click "choose files", find where you saved it on your computer, and it should upload almost immediately. Make sure you have the "from my computer" box ticked as well.

Once it uploads, you should see it in your Photobucket. Then choose the "IMG Code" link, copy and paste it, and put it in your signature part under My Controls on this board.

Signature directions are same for the avatar- click edit avatar settings- upload straight from the computer or link to a site like photobucket. Please make sure it fits the measurement requirement

Okay, now I just followed everything here, saved pic to My Pictures, logged onto Photobucket, but when I tried to upload the sig onto Photobucket, this is what comes up:

"Upload failed for sig.jpg with error: Invalid file type"

So now what do I do? I don't know what format the avi is in, how do you know? Help.

if your avi is moving... the format is gif..


umm...just go to where bianca post it then right click - properties - copy the url link -paste it on "Enter a URL to an online avatar image" - update avatar..

banner- same as the avi procedure but you have to paste it on insert image...

Help. I just followed these directions, and now when I post a comment, there is just a blank box with a red x in upper corner where avi should be, and where the banner should be there is just a http:// thing that I can click on to see the picture, not the actual picture itself.

Oh, when I updated the avatar, it said that the pic must be no more than 90x90 or whatever (that WAS the pic size), so many megabytes, etc., and showed just the white box w/ the x also after I updated it...

What do I do now?

See? You can see what is happening when I post this, see the http:// photobucket thing? and the white box w/ the x?

It looks like you are very close - there is an extra http in the URL of your avatar.

Try copying and pasting again, getting rid of the extra http

It should hopefully work better!

As for your signature, you need to add [ IMG ]the url of your sig pic[ /IMG ] to get the image to show up. Be sure to take the spaces out of the IMG tags so that it will show up.

Imageshack allows for a lil more size wise,incase it's too big for Photobucket and that's what the prob is.


Um,the sig....the URL in your sig area works,all you gotta do it add (IMG) before it and (/IMG) after it....Change the ( ) to [ ].

you have to reduce its size so that it'll show for itself....

for your banner/siggy...: just search on the icons above where you can insert image, then click it, after you do i.. a small box will pop out and will ask for the url link of the pic that's where you'll have to paste the link.

Thank you ALL SO MUCH!!!!! I got it fixed!!! As Randy would say, "You guys are the BOMB!!!" lol I am forever deeply, humbly, indebted to you!!

I ended up bypassing Photobucket and My Pictures altogether, clicking on the pic (avatar or banner), going to Properties, copying the url, then pasting it to its proper place in My Controls, on the banner placing the IMG things before and after it. Can't believe it worked--thank you, thank you!!!!
