Okay, just updated our official Cougar list (in post #3 on the first page).
I think you haved to have 200 posts before you can have a custom name. So post away, girlfriend! ;-)

Hi to all Cougars! I got my new iPod set up with all of the DC songs I bought from iTunes. It's great! But...I'm missing so many songs that I didn't get before TPTB removed them! Does anyone think the downloads might be made available again, even for a short time??? Also, are any of you going to the Houston concert? I went last year and I felt a little out of place. Most of the women my age were there with kids and grandkids. It would be nice to meet up with other Cougars before or after the show!

I love that! So true. My father-in-law is in his 70's but I can't think of him as an old person. He has such a young spirit. While my own father seems old, old, beyond his 76 years. Thank the powers that be that I take after my sprightly mother.

I'm on that list a lot too. Just can't get enough chattin' about our favorite rocker!Great poem, Serenity! You are very talented. I think this should be the official Cougar mantra. The second stanza particularly resonated for me. I'm 51...52 tomorrow and I feel more confident and happy in my own skin than I did when I was in my 30's and early 40's. I have a new zest for life, especially after watching a certain young man win American Idol this season

I can't remember which one (with the Isreali guy maybe) -- but they asked him about the Celtics vs. Lakers and he called it the "quintisential match-up" or something like that -- I had to laugh. It seems like EVERY interview has great word like that in it -- a word you just don't expect to hear from the average new rock star . . . let's see, lately there's been "remiss" (Walmart), and -- oh I can't remember specific others at the moment, but it's always fun to listen for one. I thought you'd like to know your words been spoken recently by the LIPS themselves!

Okay, I know I'm replying to myself, but I just had to add "anthemic" to the list of new rocker interview words -- Ha! (see Tonight Show interview with Melendez). I'd be remiss if I didn't take the opportunity to point out this quintessential example of the point I was making above. Gotta love it. For goodness sake, I hope some new Cougar takes the next "A" and becomes "Anthemic Cougar" !!!

The term anthemic is not strictly a word, yet is used to describe music that has a particular presence to it/atmospheric feel.
In hardcore/punk an anthemic band would be one who have plentiful singalongs and a tight, melodic, and often heavy rhythm section. Bands such as Bane and With Honor are a good example of this.

Actually it is a word. I found this in Webter's online:
1 a: a psalm or hymn sung antiphonally or responsively b: a sacred vocal composition with words usually from the Scriptures
2: a song or hymn of praise or gladness
3: a usually rousing popular song that typifies or is identified with a particular subculture, movement, or point of view <anthems of teenage angst>
I bet David was referring to definition #3 or what you are referring to above. I'm sure David know exactly what the definition of every word he uses, including the cuss word

Thanks! And thanks for the compliment on my avatar...but I just changed it! LOL I LOVE cats...I used to have two female Siamese cats a long time ago. I now have 6 cats! I have 2 sibling sisters that I watched being born, a cat that ran into my apartment one day, and never left, and three other siblings...one female and two males. My daughter's boyfriend's family cat had kittens, and we wound up with three of them!
I have always been a cat person...,grew up with cats. Love 'em.
