Thanks, Jenney, it's really nice of you to do all the work! I was reading through some of the pages, and love everybody's "reasons" for their Cougar names. I tried to match up a number I liked (I'm an accountant, so I'm quirky about that) with a letter/word that fit. I got married (happily this time!) in '99, and Untamed is appropriate for me! And being a TRUE Word Nerd, I wanted to use up a letter that would be harder than others. Yes, I am untamed, but also a DORK!

I have an official Word Nerd number (1472) and title (Cracks Myself Up), and an official Cougar # & name, but now I see that there is an official Cookie list, too?! OK, I must be complete, so could someone please tell me, how do I get one of those?

Unfortunately, whatever forum she got bashed on has given all of us "ladies of a certain age group" a bad rep. I was starting to see the beginnings of a little cougar bashing which is a shame. All it takes is a few big mouths to make us all look bad. Unfortunately, negative people will always be around. I just wish they wouldn't be so damn loud!

Yeah, I just posted on that thread too....it makes me sad that a few loud 'alley cats' are setting the tone for the rest of us, in hers and others eyes.

I hope David realizes just how large, proud and well mannered a Cougar fanbase he has here at dc.org.

After Lindz was done with her interview the reporter said that someone called (didn't catch her name) to complain that she was waiting to see the Idols a few hours more than Lindz. I guess she wanted to be on TV too but didn't get the recognition Lindz got, sour grapes if you ask me, Lindz was great! That's when the reporter plugged our site.

The woman that called was probably from the other thread and was jealous!!

The word nerd numbers people have here are the same list that Stacy maintains on the word nerd site. If you look at her list you'll see that some of the names have d-c.o next to them, which means the names associated with the numbers are the names people have on this forum.

No, it isn't just you. Some of us tried to let it be known that it was just a small group on another board but even after all that, someone wrote that Lindz was more mature "than most Cougars I've heard about!" Gee, thanks. Personally, now when I see that thread title "Cougars starting cat fights?," I feel ill. I wish they would close that thread, it's been beaten to death, and it's just causing hurt feelings now amongst us. We're being dragged into the mud because of the sins of a few. Lindz has received lots of love and support, including from us! - It's time to move on.....but they probably won't.

I think a lot of us are already a little self-conscious about being fans of such a young guy, but what do they want -for any rocking we do to be in a rocking chair????? Sorry, I'm not ready for that by a long shot! We recognize David to be the super talented, fun-loving and yes, VERY good looking guy that he is. We want the best for him and want to support his career just like any other fan. I haven't decided yet if I want to drop my cougar name or not. It stays for now and I still want to come here and chat with my fellow "fans over a certain age!" You're a great group of ladies!!

Hi. I'm a mod over at another site. Working to get things smartened up there (apparently LIndz feelings are hurt, and I don't have all the details yet, which are hard to get authenticated.) I don't like anyone dissing on anyone so I'm putting myself on the line at the other site to deal with certain issues (including comments on David's personal life with other ladies) or I'm outa there for good. This is all meant to be fun and to be supportive of David, not to become nasty.

I'm hopeful things will settle down, both here on the snarky threads and elsewhere.

Not giving up my cougar name! Why let a few mess it up for so many? So many nice, funny amazing women? I don't know where they are or what they said, and, quiet frankly, I don't care. Lindz knows we think she is cuter than a speckled pup and loved everything she did. I did that stuff in my day, and now pass on the torch to the kittens who have the energy! =) After an awful 25 year marriage was over, I accidentally became a cougar, although at the time I had never heard the expression. I was 50, he 35. I happened to get so lucky as to hire him as my personal trainer at a gym. We were together for a wild five years. Best five years of my life. When we were no longer together, I got his name tattooed on my ankle inside a heart. When I get really, really old, I'll look at it and sigh and smile and remember. David is just adorable and I love his voice, so now I am a different kind of cougar; I'll look from afar and cheer Lindz on as I sneak another glance at my only tattoo. Those growling, hissing, spitting "other" cougars are just a different breed of mangy cat. Pay them no mind, wherever they are. They are of no importance to our fun here.

You know, I've thought about this ever since this little 'issue' started. Well...I'm not giving up my name. (It's a popular pick for crying out loud! lol)

Cougars are well known all over the world & David himself stated he loves his Cougars! (no, not that way people!) So I have no intention of letting a small, insignificant and tasteless group of people ruin MY reputation! Feelings were hurt from the generalization of the name. WE are more than that! We have class! There are thousands of us out there doing great things in the name of David, and I won't let the jealous cats get the satisfaction for taking the fun out of this...I'm stopping it right now!

I agree with you, Lisa! (Surprise, surprise...) I still am damn proud to be a cougar, because I believe that (at least on this site) it simply stands for women 40+ years of age who love, respect, and admire David Cook, and all that he represents! I went over to that other site today and read some of the things that were posted...it absolutely nauseated me. Those folks seem to treat DC as a sex toy or a slab of meat, and that is NOT what we are about on here! (Even though I may write my silly thoughts, they are just a joke...you all know my sense of humor by now...)

I did not remove my cougar name/number from under my avi--I only removed it from my siggy because I wanted to add in the section about the Pittsburgh ACS team, and I did that Tuesday night, before the sh*t hit the fan...For me, being a named/numbered cougar on this site just represents our special group here--"Cook's Cougars on D-C.org"--and I am proud to be in the same close-knit circle as all of you!
