You know, I've thought about this ever since this little 'issue' started. Well...I'm not giving up my name. (It's a popular pick for crying out loud! lol)

Cougars are well known all over the world & David himself stated he loves his Cougars! (no, not that way people!) So I have no intention of letting a small, insignificant and tasteless group of people ruin MY reputation! Feelings were hurt from the generalization of the name. WE are more than that! We have class! There are thousands of us out there doing great things in the name of David, and I won't let the jealous cats get the satisfaction for taking the fun out of this...I'm stopping it right now!

I am #17-Q, Quintessential Cougar.....HEAR ME
ROAR FOR DAVID!

Well stated....and I completely agree. I am not going to let some sour grapes ruin it for me.

What just because he is 25 and I'm 40, I can't appreciate his talent and pure beauty? I'm old not deaf or blind. Everyone one this site has their fantasies about him and why should Cougars be any different. I'm not going to up and leave my husband because I think that I actually have a chance with DC. However, just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu!! I am a proud Cook's Cougar that will continue to support DC and his career with my cougar head held HIGH.

I am #34-H, Head Over Heels Cougar.......HEAR ME ROAR FOR DAVID!!

You know...after at that 'stuff' went on...we Cougars here at D-C.org should do something. Whatever it may be, and call it "DC Cougars Care". Have to think more on that...

Great idea! "Cook's Caring Cougars", etc...

I'm not giving up my Cougar name. I think its fun, all these names and numbers. I will not let a group of woman that are jealous that an 18 year old girl had her dream come true ruin my fun.

I am a 56 year old widowed grandmother that likes rock music, always have and always will.
David is a very good singer that we all got to see grow on Idol and become the star that he is.
I don't expect him to come knocking on my door, I just enjoy listening to him sing. I watched his dreams come true right in front of me on TV so I can relate to him more than a singer that just shows up on the radio one day.

David is a caring family man that is effected by a horrible illiness. He is a 25 year old with great family values and that, too, touched my heart. And he deserves to have a personal life, with whomever he chooses.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I love this site, it is a lot of fun. I look forward to checking the post every day. I repeat, I will not give up my fun because of a few sour grapes. Don't let them ruin it for us.

Keep on rambling Grandmajoyce! We "likes" it! smile.gif Isn't that the truth about watching his dreams come true on AI. It really is a great story. Works hard locally getting his music out there, Analog Heart gets special recognition in Tulsa....he goes along with his brother to the auditions for moral support and BAM! What a ride!

Reading these posts made me feel so much better. I too have always been a "rock chick" and always will.

I have seen Bruce Springsteen (beginning in the late 70's) well over 50 times. Used to head up 95 to NJ and catch him in small clubs, even after he was famous, and was fortunate enough to meet him several times. And just because my age hits some number arbitrarily set by "someone", does not mean I'm hanging up my rock and roll shoes!

Something about DC ignited the same kind of feelings in me this year, that I hadn't felt about any other artist in quite some time. And I certainly don't expect or want to date the guy laugh.gif

But do I think he's handsome? Talented? Intelligent? Cool? Witty? Super attractive in a plethora (haha) of ways? You bet I do. And I see no reason not to be every bit as big of a fan as anyone else, just because I've lived longer than they have.

Lastly, I think all of us "cougars" on this site have conducted ourselves in a totally respectable manner. It's a shame events unfolded that made us all begin to feel "uncomfortable", for lack of a better word. But reading your posts this morning helped me "take a breath" and feel okay again. And so I am still 109 Devilish Cougar! tongue.gif

So, thanks ladies! I wub.gif y'all.

The only difference between the younger fans and the 'Cougars'...is we've been around a little longer to know...what we're seeing with David truly is a ROCK STAR LEGEND in the making!

We've seen it before. We helped advance them to their status. We saw them go from the small clubs to the grand arena's. We've watched...given small (sometimes big) nudges...and followed the footsteps of pure greatness.

In my eye's? That's something to be proud of! I wub.gif you guys too!

Hi all... just catching up on the posts in this thread. I've been too busy rockin' out with Rickey I guess! You all are such a wonderful group of ladies. I hope that Lindz knows how much we admire and adore her. This is all supposed to be for fun and that is exactly what I intend to do - have fun. I embrace my 48 years of life experiences. David has so much ahead of him. It will be my pleasure to sit on the sidelines and watch. Shoot, since I was his age, I have been married and divorced - twice, had several boyfriends along the way, lived in five different states, held down numerous jobs, none of which I enjoyed as much as he does his, and have lost a few family members and friends, some much too soon. Pardon my rambling on... I just want to thank each and every one of you for being here and becoming a part of my daily entertainment.

I am not giving up my Cougar-dom either! The above quotes are exactly how I feel too. I don't really know what was said to lindz or by whom, but I do know that I enjoyed the exciting moments and photos from her experiences with David. And I picked up 2 things from that - 1.) lindz has a learning experience, there are bad mean people out in the world and on the internet, just shake them off and move on and 2.) I suspect from lindz's experience and another I read about that David is choosing to connect to his fans and share himself via the somewhat young and innocent with their parent standing by. that keeps it safe and clean. just my opinion.

but as for us, the d-c.org cougars (and maybe now we need a name even more...) I looked at that other cougar site and it is icky, actually there are a few threads I have run across on this site even that tend to run on the slightly tasteless side, but that is not what most of us are about, I don't think. So many of you seem to have been through the same David Cook journey as I have - and what this is about for me is first and foremost THE VOICE, that is what hooked me. I have never cared for Idol, have watched it only a few times over the years, but last winter, as fate would have it, I happened to turn it on just as this young man started to sing "Happy Together"... and wow, what a voice. Over the weeks I was even more amazed at the "versatility" of David's voice. By "Hello" I realized that this was no kid, by "Eleanor Rigby" I realized that David was in a whole different league than the rest of the Idols as far as his stage presence, musicianship and camera working ability. I agreed with Paula when she started saying that he was the "whole package" and Randy when he said "you could make a record right now" ( I didn't know about Analog Heart or Axium then) As the season went on I was absolutely sure that David didn't need to win Idol in order to go on now and make it big, and that if AI hadn't found him, he would have made it outside of Tulsa in a few years anyway. He is an incredible talent, an incredible young man and destined to be a SUPERSTAR. and yes, ok, he is very nice to look at and his voice and his videos do have an effect on me - but what I am excited about is as Serenity65 said, is watching a Rock Star Legend in the Making!

You are so right, his voice is amazing and he would have gone far without Idol. But wasn't it fun watching him grow into the great singer that he is and to feel you know him because you learned of his persona at the same time you fell in love with his voice?

And how great do you think he feels knowing that we all picked him to win? I'm proud of him and us!!

Ok, folks, I've gotten some good ideas (thanks to Chris and Jenney!) re: our cougar numbers, etc. Chris suggested we use letters along with numbers...

What do you all think? I like the idea of being 'creative' with this group--I'm just not always very good at it! LOL

EDIT--THE COUGAR NAMES AND NUMBERS ARE LISTED IN POST #3 BELOW, UNDER JENNEY'S POST...

I had an idea this morning...I think we should give ourselves a 'special name'...ya know, there are "Cougars for Cook", but I'd like to do something that separates us (here on D-C.org) from the other cougars out there.

Sooo...if anyone has any ideas for an 'original name' for us, post it on here or PM me. I guess I'll take ideas for the next couple days, and then I'll come up with a poll this weekend (with, say, the most popular 5 ideas), and we'll choose our name!

Sound good???

Peace,
Dyann

Well, other than his amazing talent, sense of humor, kindness, compassion, and HOTness, what I love about this is the story. Watching him chase him dream, attain it, and watching him live it. Wow, that is better than a good novel.
And to know he was walking around this same town I live in and look at him now. Makes me believe in dreams again!

You go David, enjoy your ride, you deserve it.

Oh, absolutely it has been great fun watching David evolve - and he still is. And yes the whole AI experience kind of gives you more of a personal connection than the way most rock stars hit the national scene. and Tulsa01, I am sure that the whole small town boy makes it big connection is part of why we were all so pleased at the outcome of AI this season. I am curious about the Cougar demographics. I suspect that many of us are long-time rockers. ( not fond of the Rock Chick term) and may have had some connection to musicians. For myself, my first husband was a musician and I dated another one later, spent part of one summer riding around on an old school bus going to bars and clubs all over MO with the band.

I find that I am feeling more and more alone among my peers as they fall by the wayside into pop, country, soft rock or those that never listen to any music recorded after 1975! It gets harder and harder to find anyone to go to a concert with me...

We have seen a lot of singers and bands come and go. From the perspective that only time can bring we know it when we see superlative talent, great personality and a performer who brings us back to our rock n roll roots. And that's what we see in David. and of course his extreme good looks and he is just old enough for us to appreciate his hotness without being tacky, as long as we don't get tacky!
Grandmajoyce
I work with alot of kids and they are amazed at my choice of music! To bad they were not around in the '60s and '70s to appreciate what real rock is.

David fits the bill!

Hi Ladies... I agree with you on these last few pages of posts I just read. I think listening to the interviews during AI made us fall in love with his personality too along with his performances. I sometimes wonder if he would have still won, if he had not chosen to change up his looks as the season went along. That was kind of the third part of it for me that I was liking about him. He polished up from post-teenager tee shirts and the longer hair into an oh so nice 25-year-old hottie. But dang, with his good looks, talent and personality, he has virtually eliminated the dating pool for us single people. I mean who else can even come close to this. sad.gif I also think he revved us cougars up because he can do the rock and roll that we loved when we were younger. He is just a win-win-win-win situation no matter how you look at it. tongue.gif

That's true. We just can't get enough of that 'inner man' personality or 'outer man' hot good looks for that matter. He just does it for us inside and out.

I wonder once his contract for Idol is up what direction he will go. His earlier songs were more ?rough, (not sure the word I want here) with more cussing in them, but his entire time on Idol was strictly rated G. I would imagine in the contract somethere there is the no cussing, no sexual inuendos type clause. ?? Anybody know for sure. I'm just curious to see what type of music HE really wants to do when no longer associated with Idol.

And Why oh Why does Idol not give them a concert wardrobe to pick from?? The video clips i've watched so far everybody is wearing the same thing every show?? What's up with that. They got to choose different stuff each week on the show? Does anyone like what Syesha wears for the last group number? Uck that outfit looks out of place to me, looks like lingerie and she can make anything look good.

Have a good day everyone!!

Hi cougars! I haven't read this strand for awhile. We've been talking (theorizing/arguing/wishing) a lot about what DC's upcoming album and tour will be like on the strand Scott started re: will he headline his first tour? I think some of you would really enjoy the back and forth over there! Not to mention the WILD speculation about what the future holds for our new discovery :-)

Cooks Cougars - Respect the music...Respect the man

We ladies of a certain age on d-c.org are the "un-cougar" cougars!

We are NOT a bunch of botox-injected middle agers in leopard print spandex with teased hair chasing down the tour buses in their stilettos! No SNL icky stereotypes here!!!! laugh.gif

Jenney -- non-botox, non-leopard-print, non-teased hair, non-stiletto Non-Predatory Cougar![b]

Does respecting the man mean I can't appreciate his hotness / fantasize about him / post salacious comments?

because I've tried, I've really tried, but like the man himself, it's impossible to contain ..... wub.gif

Anyone other Cougars still out there? Haven't received any emails regarding new posts lately. Did folks move to a new forum? I'm wondering who went to the show? I'd love to hear about it since I was unable to.

I LOVE "Lights On" - definitely sounds like a Chris Cornell song (love him too). Great first single. Glad he didn't do some lame mellow thing.

Hope everyone is doing well!
