Full Version: the song "let go" without that annoying screech?
David Cook > David Cook > The Multimedia
cry cry wolf
I'm making a mix CD for my mom of davids older stuff, and I want to put that song so bad,
but the screech at the end is really intense. and I know it would be a bit painful...

anyways, does anyone have the ability to cut that part out?
I know its cropping up an original song but...I love every other part of it and I know she'll totally love it (my mom is cool like that. she voted for him all along.)

for those that dont know, at the end of Let Go there is this long high pitched feedback that is like 10-20 seconds long and the pitch is painful. i just remember to turn it down but i still didnt want to put it on the CD with that...
luvindc
you can download av morpher (something to that effect) and you can crop it. i don't have it anymore and i don't have the space to download it again.

Oh wow...you don't like the awesome feedback at the end! How dare you! Hahaha...just kidding...however that screech is the most awesomest of all rocking screeches ever! But sometimes it can almost make your ears bleed if you are rocking out in the car and it's really loud. And has anyone else noticed on the CD how like most of the songs have a little something extra at the end before the song is actually over...I love it. Anyway this response was kinda pointless because I don't have it without the screech...just with it.

^^ or worse, when you're using your earphone...ugh....

btw, i wish i could help but my sound card is busted so i couldn't play any songs on my computer and i can't help you edit it
but there's this one sound editing software that's so easy to use, it's called Audacity go here

Oh c'mon, who doesn't love 20 seconds of ear-splitting feedback?

Yeah, that screech hurts the ol' eardrums a bit...my cats truly don't like it!! LOL
simplyglamrous
I think it's intentional?

And no! I usually take the song of my playlist at work b'cz if I'm on the phone and it's playing, I can't skip it in time - I get quite the bad reaction here from my neighbors :x

I would love to find out from David what the meaning of the squeal is and why he decided to use it, what it's purpose is. I'm sure he thinks it's really cool. But, oye, it ends up vibrating inside my head.

You have no idea how much my ears thank you! You are a genius!

This was the first time I heard that song. Love it.

If the song's in your iTunes you can just right click, "Get Info" then go on to "Options" and change the stop time to before the feedback screech (About 2:59). For some reason it's part of the song for me, so I've kept it. My sister refused to listen to it though so I cut it out for her (I did, however, cut off that almost minute of silence at the end of The Truth!)

Whoops! I guess I took to long to type that, lol. Just read what atmosphere said, lol.

Another alternative:

If you're using iTunes, you can modify the song's "stop time" by right clicking the song in your library and selecting "Get Info" from the pop up menu. Then select the fourth tab on the window that pops up, which is "Options". Near the middle of the window you'll see the options of "Start Time" and "Stop Time". Click the "Stop Time" box and set the time you wish the song to end. I set the song to end at exactly 3:00 (3 Minutes), thus eliminating the screech when playing on my iPod and the disc I burned for my sister.

(Please note: I'm not sure when this feature was first introduced on iTunes, so if you haven't updated in a while, you may not be able to set this option without upgrading. Likewise, I've never worked with the Mac version of iTunes (I'm on Windows), but I'd assume Mac gives the same features, again, provided the program version is up to date.)

I never really liked the song until I got rid of that screech. Once I did, I was able to enjoy it without constantly being mindful of the song's time so I knew when to skip to the next song as to not hear the screech. Now that I can just listen and enjoy, it's one of my favorites off the album!

LOL I liked the feedback at first, but now, I'll listen to about 5 seconds of it and then skip to the next song, IF I'm using my earphones. If I'm just listening to it on the computer, I usually let it play laugh.gif

i was prepared for that 30s screech because I read about it, but it still shocked me tongue.gif

thank you so much Gen

Cooked_In_MI
LOL Oh come on, how can you NOT like that part? LOL I have my headphones on full volume, just to get the full effect. LOL Just me, then? LOL But now I know how to get rid of silence at the end of some songs... thanks to the person who posted, it's greatly appreciated! biggrin.gif
Yaara
Thanks for the screech-less version. I mostly rock David's album out on my iPod and it literally hurts my ears because I always put the volume all the way up. So a screech-less version is appreciated. If the screech was shorter, it could've been a cool addition to the song. But it's too long for me.
Cookieschick
that screech is loud enough make a dog howl..lol!I just always turn the volume down, but the first time I heard it I was like WTF and ouch my poor ears, love the rest of the song though!
SweetCookie
LOL! I'm glad I'm not the only one with the bleeding ears...

The first time I heard it, I thought my CD was stuck because it just went on, and on, and on....

And the guinea pigs... Not thinking they like the squeal so much either.

Other than that, I LOVE that song!
Joey507
The first time I really listened to Analog Heart was at my desk at work. When "Let Go" was over and the screech started, everybody whipped their heads in my direction with both "WTF" on thier faces and "WTF" coming out of their mouths. It was pretty funny now that I think about it. But yeah, I had to fix the song after that.
