I chose "Let Go" and "The Truth". If AH were on vinyl I'd have worn a rut in those two by now.
Scott
I voted above, but I want these songs ONLY if they're re-recorded. I can't imagine 19/RCA not insisting they be redone. Remember, DC submitted the songs, not the actual tracks. He did an amazing job getting AH out all by himself, on a shoestring budget. But this is the big time now and it must be perfect technically. You can be sure they'll re-record whatever AH tracks they select, and that DC will use a greater vocal range (he sort of discovered his own versatility during Idol), and that the best engineers, mixers and studio session musicians will make it really sweet. A good producer will make sure every track is perfect and that the vocal to instrument ratio is optimal. David himself would be the first to say that AH would be improved if done by a Hollywood studio with a big budget. Afterall, he needs to hit this first post Idol album out of the park commercially and critically (and he will, I am certain). He deserves nothing less than the best in terms of production.

Well, I just hope that all that technowizardy doesn't water them down to irrelevance.

I like gritty and raw; "Blue" by Joni Mitchell is one of my top 10 albums of all time.
April Cookie
"Fall Back Into Me", "The Truth, "Porcelain", & "Silver."

I really LOVE them all!
He should just re-release analog heart along with the new one and have 2 albums out..lol

That's a brilliant idea!

Here's hoping someone connected to him with power reads this.

I wish Analog Heart was available because I don't have it sad.gif and I've heard SO MANY wonderful things. I'd love to have my own copy!

Therefore, I'm going to abstain from voting.

i LIKE MaKeOvER a lot. Can listen to the song the whole day over and over again...

"Don't Say a Word"
"Silver"
"Porcelain"
"Makeover"

Although I have to say I prefer that Analog Heart is re-released and then we get all new stuff on his new CD ... that means more David to listen to and that's always a good thing.

I'd have to say "Makeover" or "Silver". They just stick out to me the most. They became my favourites right away.
CathyMK
"The Truth", "Porcelain", and "Makeover" are my top choices, but, really, I don't think there's a bad song on the whole album. I adore the guitar solo on "Makeover", and I think "Porcelain" has the best lyrics. I'd love to hear what he could do with those songs now.
amedc2009
"Let Go" and "Makeover".... them songs just rock out!! lol.... shoot.. he should put the whole "Analog Heart" album as a bonus disk to his debut cd.... lol.. that would be sweet!
kristie
i choose "don't say a word", "fall back into me", "let go", & "porcelain". i just really like those songs.
SarahBeth
The Truth, Makeover and Silver
bladeyoustain07
i love Let go, Makeover, Porcelain and fall Back into Me..i love it when he include those songs..but please, erase first the screech sound in Let Go..that's awful in the ears..it hurts!! laugh.gif
Agent Krycek
I went with The Truth, Porcelain and Silver. (BTW, apologies to my neighbours who had to put up with me in the garden on Sunday, bellowing along with Silver on my shuffle, completely oblivious to how loud I was unsure.gif )

Mind you, I love all the tracks on AH, so I'd be happy with whatever he picked.
Rheanne
Everything is amazing on Analog Heart but I voted for Fall Back Into Me, Silver, and Makeover.
annie702
i only want them on there if they're re-recorded/re-arranged.

I thought I heard that he wasn't going to rerelease Analog Heart. I think he has at least 4 single off that album and it could go Platinum. He might want to wait until his year with Idol is over. YOu never know what contract limitations he has right now. Artist have to watch their backs with the record companies. I hope RCA is smart enough to let him do his own thing. I like his own music best.

BethanyA
Hey what do you guys think about DC doing Garth's "Shameless". I think he could really "rock it up" with the sexy voice of his!
MichelleWT
I just downloaded Analog Heart yesterday and I love it. My favorite songs are:

Don’t Say a Word
Truth
Silver
Fall Back into me

I'd love to see one or more of these on the new album. If they don't make it onto the new album, at least we still have them.

You can download them from the following website as well: http://weblog.xanga.com/seejaybee14/650709...eart-album.html

I was concerned about the legality of downloading them....but if you look on the main page of this site, there is a thread which talks about this. Basically, it says to give a donation to the American Cancer Society if you download DC's old album (which is no longer for sale).

There are models for this situation. I'm thinking of John Mayer in particular. (I became his fan in 2001)

John did a small independent release, Inside Wants Out, in 1999 (7 songs, mostly acoustic).
Sony(?) signed John in 2001 and his first release Room For Squares included 5 of the songs from Inside Wants Out (redone with peppier/poppier arrangements).

Inside Wants Out was not available for sale anywhere yet it circulated and at every concert the audience requested and sang along to the IWO songs (Comfortable, for example). I think Sony finally released IWO for sale in 2003.

I can see Analog Heart following the path of Inside Wants Out.

I'd really want to see "The Truth" and "Silver" on there. But "Silver" needs to lose the piano. It doesn't work, and I don't think Cookie is that great of a piano player, which is likely why he never tried to do it on the show.

"Silver" would be awesome as a sing-out next year, but I'm not sure if AI wants it all over the place. In retrospect, it kind of totally has a FU vibe to it if we heard it every 5 minutes. It's like Cookie is pounding it into our heads that he beat the machine, overcame every obstacle, and took the crown away from the "favorite". I would love hearing it every 5 minutes for that reason alone, but I'm not sure if AI wants to put that impression out there.

To be honest.
None.
Those songs were for Analog Heart

The new album means new music.
Not old.
RKC_Erika
Well if they wanted to put out like a 12-14 song record and add like 3-4 of his old songs to it that would mean we'd get like 8-10 new songs (1 being TOML) so I'd vote for DON'T SAY A WORD, THE TRUTH, and SEARCHLIGHTS.

Those 3 songs in particular have the perfect rock/pop blend that would make them skyrocket to #1 as singles. I'm not sure why more people haven't selected SEARCHLIGHTS, I just find it utterly intoxicating and love how the song just builds and builds and climaxes on it's musical journey.

If they didn't show up on his new album - I'd be happy to just see the older Analog Heart songs remastered and added as bonus tracks on extended single EPs or as bonus tracks on extended, special edition CDs.

I picked it wink.gif Searchlights just screams Top 40 to me. It's a great song. And I 100% agree with your 3. I also think that Woody Jo is right with regards to Mayer's first EP. I was lucky enough to see him in his bar days and I own Inside Wants Out =)

Make no mistake I love AH as it is! The Truth is my absolute favorite. But I would like to see any of the AH songs on ANY upcoming CD as I believe there is great potential for hit singles on this CD.

My only complaint (if you can call it that considering I listen to these songs constantly) is that David did not arrange the songs to make his voice more prominent. He has that sexy voice that we all fell in love with and needs to use it to his advantage. I read another post that said that maybe David realized exactly how versatile he really is during his AI journey. I feel that maybe now he will have the confidence to let his voice really soar above the music.

Simply remixing and/or re-recording some of these songs with more resources at his disposal will likely earn David big bucks as well as critical acclaim. I know I would buy them ALL again! Whether he wants to do that under his current contract is another question entirely.

I love David (a.k.a. AI contestant #36214).

I honestly want NEW songs in his upcoming album but if and only if, let's say, one AH song is to be included in the album, I hope it's "Silver".
David Cook's Biatch!!!
i choosed fall back into me,but no matter wat will cook's pick...
i love all songs dat his sang!!!!! tongue.gif

You know, from looking at that poll, I can't help but wonder if David had to pick one - if he'd pick the same or be completely surprised by what WE like the best. He probably wouldn't even believe the ones we like best, considering how different these songs are from his AI stuff...

I also wonder what his faves are, what he's most proud of. And lest we forget, he had been writing a lot of music right before his fateful day in Omaha, so who knows what treasures he's already come up with that we've not heard!

My faves from Analog Heart are Makeover and The Truth. I usually skip Let Go.
annie702
Hmmm...interesting proposition. Let's guess which are his favorites from that album.
My guess: The Truth and Let Go.
breann
Hmm. I'm not sure that any should go on there, but if they were definitely going to choose some from it to use, I would say any of the below:

Straight Ahead
Fall Back Into Me
The Truth
Searchlights
Silver

Simply because those are my favorites, lol. If they were only going to use one: The Truth. I love that song so much...oooh my. I could listen to it over and over.

"If you wanna know the truth / You make or break my day / If you wanna know the truth / I wouldn't have it any other way"

Is that perfect or what?? If someone said that to me I'd probably fall over.
zoo
I would love to know which songs he actually chose to submit to them for consideration. As for me, I really like the entire selection. Each song is enjoyable to listen to in its own way. Whether or not any of them are rerecorded for the new CD, I'm sure the CD will be awesome.

Jeannine
fanny
All of them are just SO good!!! Any of them can be on his new cd and would be a hit!
ODCD
I'd be surprised if David put any of his Analog Heart songs on the new album. He chose not to perform Billie Jean or Hello again during the AI competition. He described his AI journey as a "progression", and if he views his music career as a progression, I can't really see him filling a album with already released music.

I love AH, and it's hard for me to pick a favorite song. But those songs are AH. Perhaps if he rearranged The Truth, I could see it on the new album. Maybe when there is a live album released will we hear the AH songs again.
StarrySkies
Ok, having listened to AH and fallen in love with it, I felt qualified to vote now. wink.gif I'm doubtful that any of the songs will show up on David's upcoming CD (or even if they should, except *maybe* as bonus tracks) but I voted for "The Truth," "Searchlights," "Makeover," and "Silver." If there's only one - "The Truth." It's perfection. But gah, I do love those other three also...(the whole CD is excellent).
VirginiaCookie
My favourites are Let Go, Porcelain and Silver. Love the raw, sexy voice, but I think they belong in Analog Heart. I would like to hear something different in the new album, because David's voice has grown and developed more maturity and versatility during his AI journey.
alyssasmom
Without a doubt, "The Truth". What an emotional song with a haunting melody! Definitely would be a hit! I hope that RCA realizes how special this song is an selects it to be included on his new album. It could be reworked with some subtle changes and that would make it new for everybody!

Hmm. I would say
1. The Truth
2. Silver
3. Fall Back Into Me
4. Don't Say A Word
5. Stitches

Analog Heart is amazing I love all of the songs in there, I wish he would re-release it.
But in the new record I would like to hear new songs.
kayekaga
i don't really want any of his AH songs on the new album, really! i agree that he should re-release it, but no more than that.

you know how he did "the world i know" during the finale and had that mind set, like, why would he do something he's already done before?

i think this album should be the same thing... we've heard analog heart. we've heard axium.

i'm hoping that all the songs on the new album will be unreleased tracks we've never heard of before, just so it has that element of surprise. that's what cook's known for right?
wordnerd4life13
Gosh all of them are great but I would have to say: (in order)

1. The Truth (the acoustic version, definately)
2. Don't Say a Word
3. Porcelain
4. Let Go

Why isn't Optimistic to a Fault on the poll? That one is my favorite song of his and I can't find the full version of it ANYWHERE! Why release only half of a song? I don't get that.

Anyways, I have all of Analog Heart. I got it for free about 5 minutes ago. Best part: no viruses! Click on the "Featured Downloads, Analog Heart". After that, I clicked on RapidShare and then under the Speedometer that says something like "Free Customer". Then, I hit the blue download button and saved the file under iTunes Music. Works like a charm! biggrin.gif

That song is called Better Never Than Late (not Optimistic to a Fault). It is on Cook's UNRELEASED second solo album which was going to be named Optimistic to a Fault. If you have an mp3 piece of it, it's probably the one from his acoustic performance for oklatravel.net because the song is not available anywhere.

For more info about his pre-idol solo work, see his archived myspace blog here:

Balla
i wouldnt want any of the analog heart songs on the new record. i love all of them to death but i want some new stuff!!
Joey507
I'm with Balla. Can I vote none? I love AH, but I already own those songs. I'd much rather have something new to obsess over lol.
