Full Version: The Quasi-Official Favorite Performances Poll
David Cook > David Cook > During American Idol

Let's make it easier for Mister Cook to choose his AI concert tour songs.*

Mine are:

- All Right Now
- Music of the Night
- All I Really Need is You
- The World I know

Why? Because I'm 1 part kinky, 2 parts romantic, and 1 part idealist.

* (Yes I know we have no sway but a girl can dream.)

*bump*

C'mon - exercise your democratic right to vote! It's fun!

Same here since all of them were so great!
englishrose123456
Hahaha! Me neither! The thing is, they're all so great for such different reasons! It's like being asked to choose between your children!
StarrySkies
It's so hard to pick because I love them all to varying degrees and I go through phases of watching different ones more often, but I finally broke down and picked the following five (in no order):

The World I Know *
Always Be My Baby
Music of the Night
All I Really Need Is You
Hello

But really, they're all fantastic! Just as soon as I think I've picked my favorites, I remember another one I love and I think, "Gotta add that one."

* I will admit to having a special place in my heart for TWIK. I wasn't familiar with the song before David sang it, and it's beautiful. Knowing how much he loves it and what it means to him, and the criticism he received from Simon that it was the "wrong" choice (even though he had to eat crow the next night), makes me feel slightly...protective? Plus, the tears.

Me too. It's a keeper. I love the original version/video by Collective Soul. It's the kind of song that creates a numinous - expansively transcendent - feeling. The kind that makes the hairs on the back your neck stand up. The kind that make you feel alive and like anything is possible.

We need more songs like that in this world.

I hope he keeps singing it.

I created a poll like this one and many people have voted - you should check out the results. Like in your poll, most people preferred The World I Know. Personally - I voted for Eleanor Rigby. biggrin.gif
Canadian Cookie
I picked:
Hello
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Dream Big
The World I Know (which is my favourite)

Then I voted, but I forgot to vote for Day Tripper.. another good one performance.

Geeze, now that I'm thinking about it again I should have added Music Of The Night. laugh.gif

I know. I saw it. *After* I'd made mine. I've been meaning to make a poll thread for this question because the non-poll threads weren't gathering good data IMO. I scanned the first page of the Multimedia section to see if there was a similar poll thread before making it and there didn't appear to be one. Sorry, hope I didn't step on your toes. The polls are different in that mine's multiple choice. Maybe they'll glean different data, maybe not.

Not a lot of of posts mention "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" - they've all blown me away, but that one propelled me off the couch completely awestruck and speachless when he hit the last note. Still get goose-bumps. Phenomenal talent . . . good God, David, is there nothing you can't transform!!
cookie jar

Don't Wanna Miss A Thing
The World I Know...the full song
Witch
Does anyone elase find it funny That the one song Simon and Randy blasted David for the most " The World I know" is his most popular? He has done it many times on TV now to great reviews.
I also wonder if David'd doing so much post idol is an act of rebellion to those 2 judges. It seems to me david will fight any producer to the music he wants his way.

Oh no don't feel bad at all, I don't mind! smile.gif No toe-stepping here. I just wanted to share results. The World I Know is still ahead on my poll, and I see it's like that on yours.
I also wanted to create a poll "What was David's best look?" - that was my first idea but decided not to be so superficial and created the best performance poll.

Can I choose all performances? biggrin.gif

In earlier tours they've done quite much songs that they didn't perform on Idol so I definitely hope he will pick "Creep" as one of his choices. He doesn't need to cut songs anymore so he could give a deserving performance. He would gain a lot of new fans if he performed that.

From performed songs I would pick Hello, The World I Know, Always Be My Baby, Eleanor Rigby and All I Really Need Is You. And he's probably forced to perform TOML.

my favorites are always be my baby, billie jean, and the world i know
i love all his songs though
and even though alot of people didnt like innocent (i did though) the studio is amazingggggggg
Cookie Lovin'
Seriously? I feel like I'm in Sophie's Choice! How on earth do I pick just one, two or three?

If I had a gun pointed at my head, I picked:

Always Be My Baby
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
The World I Know

But truly each one of them is my favourite for different reasons.

I agree. I like "Innocent" a lot. I never listen to it just once - I always hit repeat! smile.gif I basically forced myself to stop at five when I voted; otherwise I would have kept adding until I had practically every performance. laugh.gif I think it's awesome that all of us are having such an impossible time trying to decide on a favorite. Well done, David!
dcfanmc
It was a hard decision, so of course I picked several:

Hello
Billie Jean
Music of the Night
I'm Alive
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
The World I Know

I love all the songs, each for different reasons. But on any given day, my favorite may change. Guess that's the measure of a great singer and artist...it all sounds good!!! biggrin.gif
almudena
i have to go with:

- hello (that song got a good makeover with david)
- billie jean (his vocals rocked)
- always be my baby (i know, typical, but we all loved it, everybody just felt that performance)
- i still haven't found what i'm looking for (i just love that song, U2 is great! such a classic and that final note!)
- the world i know (it was just so sincere and beautiful)

to me, TWIK was the perfect ending to the whole season, it just represented david as the artist that he is and not the one they might want to turn him into, i loved it! he owned that one... that's why i loved when paula said that he was standing there in his "truth", she got that one right, it was great to see him getting recognized for not compromising who he really is.

i'll stop rambling now rolleyes.gif

1. Maybe TPTB will see these polls and make some wise decisions.
2. Like my new banner? Made it myself.
bedsidemanners
i honestly loved all of them,
but I always find myself watching these performances the most:

Little Sparrow
I Don't Want To Miss a Thing
The Music of The Night (possibly the best song from the best musical, ever written.)
Lee_K
I couldn't pick only one... I went with

- Eleanor Rigby
- First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
- Billie Jean
- Always Be My Baby
- The World I Know
- Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Adi
I just apologized on my thread about not making my poll multiple choice (I really didn't know you could do that - my little high school brain thought multiple choice meant A, B, C, D, etc... lol). This definitely seems to be an easier way to poll! O well, the results are fairly similar although my percentages are more drastic. The World I Know is still winning on both threads!
anii
For some reason, the follow performances didn't register:

Hungry Like the Wolf
Baba O'Riley
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Dare You to Move
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing

I must've been multitasking those nights. I'm going to watch them again and see if any strike a chord.
bittersweet04
It's so hard to pick just one! Here are my Top 5 favorites...

1. Billie Jean
2. Always Be My Baby
3. All I Really Need Is You
4. Eleanor Rigby
5. Hello
matematika
I didn't realize I could vote for more than one performance so I voted for All I Really Need Is You. Actually, I found it to be his SEXIEST performance, I melt whenever he almost kissed the microphone. tongue.gif

MJE_LOVES_DC
Hello is my all time favorite performance. I absolutely love minor tunes, and David seemed to pick a lot of minor tunes, which is one thing I love about him! Hello is such a beautiful song, and I think its David's sexiest performance. I also voted for Billie Jean, All Right Now, and Music of the Night. I was so impressed by Music of the Night because it showed David's great versatility. I would have expected him to do a rock version, but he did it straight musical theater style and it was fantastic! He's always full of surprises!

I just love the full studio version of Innocent too, even though I was underwhelmed by the abreviated version he did on the air.

There were a few of his performances that didn't impress me at first, but that was because they were too brief an excerpt and/or a song I'd never heard before. But they got better with each additional viewing.
Fortunately too-short excerpts won't be an issue on the tour.

The ones that knocked me out the very first time I heard them were Hello, Always Be My Baby, All I Really Need, Dream Big, (and Hero and Sharp-dressed Man).

I've gotta add Little Sparrow to this list -- I know it's NOT a top choice for most people, but it was an amazing (brave, creative, etc) performance despite Simon's dismissive attitude toward the song. And, even though this is a PERFORMANCE poll, OMG the studio version is incredible. It's hard to believe it is a product of an over-the-weekend rushed studio recording rather than months of arranging and rehearsal. If DC ever wants to be Garth Brooks instead, it won't be a problem. biggrin.gif

My favorite performences are:

The world I know
All I really need is you
ABMB
Dream big
Billie Jean
Time of my life
