As of this writing, i noticed there are already 8,403 registered members of this david-cook.org! wooow!!!

I have never watched American Idol until this season and well, its the fault of a certain Mr.David Cook!
I would like to ask the AI fanatics here if this is just the usual phase of an Idol winner.. Is this the same for all?
I mean, having quite a huge fansite and seemingly having such INTENSE support... Or, is it because David is the most standout of all the Idol winners (ever) hence people have gone really mad? I have heared of Kelly and Carrie making it big. But then I'm not really into them and so I don't know

I remember being jealous at Carrie's fans back in the day Carrie was on Idol. They also had huge fan forum and fansites while fans of my favorite contestant mostly sticked with general forums. That site (carriefans.com) is still alive and doing good which is so great!

After David's winning this forum became massive popular. Of course there were a lot of active people around before it, but everything exploded in late May, lol.

It's quite funny to read the previous congratulations thread, T.C. Robson started it after we had only 3,000 members that seems to far away now.

And lately, when my Internet access was being an ass again and then only few days later came back and clicked 'view new posts', I had total of 67 pages of threads to read! Love has definitely spreaded out.

I'm a huuugee fan of Kelly, and she has a big forum site like this one run by fans. It's the Kelly Clarkson Express, or KCE here: http://kellyclarksonexpress.yuku.com/ And her fan club is huge as well at http://kellyclarkson.com/ I'm members of both sites as you can tell, haha. The KCE is kind of set up like this site, except you can't have signatures. Both sites are stricter than this one, like you can't talk about explicit things hahaha. This site has more members than the KCE but the fan club has 53776 members and 4796 paid fan club members as of now.

Wow.. winning American Idol is definitely a "springboard" (as i often hear from DC) to fame.

And yes, Love has definitely spreaded out (@Zandra).. Somehow i can feel that DC is bound to be super BIG. Coz even personally speaking, it is unbecoming of me to be this starstrucked, but then I am!

I wonder if DC uses a hypnotizing potion before every performance.. hahahahaa

During Idol I was on the AI forum - found this fansite afterwards.

Same here - I would have joined a long time ago. I found it right after Idol ended. I needed a David Cook fix because he had been in my living room every week and suddenly he was gone! So I used our friend Google to locate him and this site came up. I've been hooked ever since. It's definitely the best fan site available.

This is an amazing forum and I'm lucky I found it early on!

The user numbers seem to be a little higher than the number of registered users for some reason.

From the bottom of the home page just now, it says 9713 registered members, but I know the user numbers are up in the 10,000's now.

That's a great question, I would really like to know how big the fansites are for other idols. I haven't been to any other sites just because I've never been such a huge fan of someone (Cookie came as a surprise for me, I can't believe what a fan I've become!) so I have no idea. I'm gonna google them though and see how many members they have..

Clay Aiken has had some sites that were quite large in their time. One of them has had over 14 thousand members. Even though he doesn't have anything to do with AI, Josh Groban's main site has almost 20,500 members. From being on smaller boards to support others, I have been used to the smaller numbers and do feel a little overwhelmed at so many people here....especially with so many screennames with either David or Cook in them. One starts to look like the other after a while.

I've noticed that too. After I joined this site I first regret that I didn't chose a name that indicated I was a huge DC fan. But now, I'm sort of happy I had no inspiration the day I signed up.

I realized that 2 weeks ago and was hoping someone would bring that point up. I wonder why the members and the user #'s aren't the same.
