The World I Know

A#m-------C#---F#
--------Has my conscience shown?

(H)A#m---/G#---F#
--------Has the sweet breeze blown?

(H)A#m---C#------F#
--------Has all the kindness gone?

(H)A#m-----/G#--F#
--------Hope still lingers on.

G#-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- I drink myself of newfound pity sitting alone in New York City

---------F#
and I don't know why.

A#m-------C#--F#
--------Are we listening

(H)A#m---/G#-------F#
--------To hymns of offering?

(H)A#m----C#---F#
--------Have we eyes to see

(H)A#m-----/G#----F#
--------That love is gathering?

G#-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- All the words that I've been reading have now started the act of bleeding
F#------
into one.

C#-------------------------G#----------------------------F#
----- So I walk up on high and I step to the edge

-----------------------------------C# (add notes D#-F-F#-F-D# on D string of C chord)
----- to see my world below.

C#----------------------G#----------------------------B
----- And I laugh to myself as the tears roll down,

-----------------------------------F#---------------------------A#m--F#--A#m--F#
----- 'cause it's the world I know. It's the world I know.

Edited to add: spacing is pretty much fixed.

What does the (H) mean?
TaylorSue
I'm sorry. I've redone this a number of times and tried to make it less confusing so I took out the explanation for (H). It means to hammer on the D string, 2nd finger of the Am chord. It's an Eb note going to an F. If you pretend you're doing a regular Am with no capo, it would be playing an Am but with an open D string and then you bring your finger down on the second fret on the E note to form the complete Am.

See, that's why I took it out. You'll hear him do it. Listen for an extra note in there at that point and that's the hammering you hear.

I fixed the spacing (again!) and fixed one mistake - I had F instead of F#.

The/G# means add a G# bass to the A#m chord.

Ah. Yes. I can see why you took that out. Yeah, I'm pretty new to guitar, so I'm pretty sure I only have the vaguest idea of what you're talking about. But really, thank you for attempting to teach me that. I'm sure it'll come in handy when I get...better. LOL. I'm gonna work on it.
