I'm such a lurker and I never post. But I thought maybe this needed my post.
While I get that you're being a good fan, that the thought is nice, and you're just being a good person in general, I have no idea what you're talking about.
I thought David did great! It's live, and it's the National Anthem, one of the hardest. But he did outstanding and I know a lot of people thought so too. I think it's a bit wrong to jump the gun, that he'll think he did bad and will need fans' support, because if he was listening to how he was singing it, like a lot of us were, it's really not needed.
For further proof, here's what was written after he sang the anthem on LA Times blog:
I'll say this- if the Lakers play as well as the guy from American Idol sang the anthem, they'll be in good shape. Solid work from AI guy.
This is no big deal... I just thought if he were to read this, even though it's essentially nice, not everybody agrees. Nerves are normal, and I would say he didn't let them get the best of him.
I think Christina was just asking us to do what she always does which is let David know by our sheer number of replies that we all watched him, in fact I only watched because of him, I never watch sports on TV, and to let him know how proud we were of him. I posted on his mySpace to say just that. I thought he did a great job. He was respectful, stood tall and with dignity; sang it straight, and was very manly, and American. Whether or not he reads his MySpace is irrelevant to me, as long as he someday knows that his fans are still 100% interested in what he does and eager to see him.
He is my American Idol. I could never do one iota of what he has accomplished and last night was just another example of that.
I agree with you. He needs to know that he "made us proud" and our country proud last night.
