I was curious, so I looked up the place where David worked in Tulsa. They didn't have a website, but I found this review of it on the best of Tulsa website. I thought it was kinda neat to see where he used to hang out. I don't think he could get near the place now witout being mobbed!
best of Tulsa

Thanks!

This is great - I am sure that when David comes to Tulsa to visit he will stop by his old stomping grounds.

I know when Bruce Springsteen is home here in NJ - he stops by the Stone Pony and other places down the shore.

He would not be mobbed in Tulsa, trust me. Unless, a bunch of out of town fans were here ( like around the idols show perhaps )

He was just back here a few weekends ago & he came into a bar downtown and hung out.

Tulsa has a lot of talented people from here, and they hang out & walk around in public while they are home with no problem. smile.gif

Great - Bruce basically does the same thing when he stops by - if there is a band playing at the Stone Pony for example, he sometime joins them on stage - it is always a treat when he is in town.

haha. I kind of want to go there.
rolleyes.gif too bad I'm not 21.

Also, the blank slate is rarely open anymore.. Unless there is something booked there that night (a band or promoter rented it out for a show) which is a shame cause its one of my favorite local venues... The guy who was doing shows/booking/hiring bartenders etc (who hired david) moved on and got himself his own club downtown, called plan b. If you're coming to the Idol show in Tulsa in September, and you are 21+ - I am planning to have a get together at Plan B before or after the show... Plan to come!!! smile.gif

Danielle:

I wish I was able to come to Tulsa that would be fun. It will be an exciting time when the tour performs there.

If you are ever in NJ - let me know.

well-played, annie702. well-played indeed!

I totally agree with the post that said it makes you appreciate his story even more. Everytime he says in an interview that he has worked at this for ten years, I always nod my head. The pix that have circulated around of him playin' in bars prove. And that pix says it, too. He's worked really hard for this dream come true. Good for him.

Wow, it's pretty awesome to see how far he's come! Thanks!

Haha, there's a Plan B night club in my town smile.gif I think it's so funny that it's called Plan B, like they're saying 'if your first choice falls through... come here!'. Also, isn't there a morning after pill called Plan B?

I am attending the Dallas show in August, but could I come up for the get together on 9/13 anyway??? I am from Oklahoma and could stay with my folks who live about 90 minutes from Tulsa...and I could get a hotel on the night of the 13th. I would love to meet you and any other folks that knew DC...and to walk through the places where he was doing his thing before AI. LET ME KNOW! smile.gif

I was driving through downtown over the weekend (don't go down there much because there is major construction and every road is dug up.) and I saw that the Blank Slate put up a new sign on the wall. And it reads, HOME OF DAVID COOK. I am not sure how long it has been up because I try to stay away from downtown now that the roads are a mess, but it will all be pretty come Sept when the idols (and David Cook) play in our brand new stadium, the BOK Center. It will be only open about a month when David returns. Shoot, when he left, the building wasn't even looking like a building. He won't even recognize downtown. Shoot, i am trying to upload a picture. I'll figure out how to do it and edit this in a bit. IF SOMEONE CAN HELP AND DIRECT ME WHERE IT TELLS US HOW TO UPLOAD A PHOTO. I THOUGHT I DID IT RIGHT, BUT IT DOESN"T APPEAR IN THIS BOX. you can pm me.
