We've spent so much time talking about our favorite Analog Heart songs, sometimes I feel we've neglected DC's Axium work. Let me start by saying I love AH, listen to it all the time and when I have it going in my car on the way to work, I CANNOT get The Truth or Makeover choruses out of my head the rest of the day.
That said, I have to say one of the best demonstrations of David's powerful voice, and one of the most haunting hard rock melodies he's ever written, sung and recorded, has to be Callout. Now there's a chorus I can't get out of my head! It was one of the first pre-idol songs I heard and fell in love with (probably in late April), and I've gone back to listening to it again and I just hope that there's a song or two on the new album that resemble it. In some ways, having the full band backing him up, the Axium songs are more complex and richer than AH. I love AH for its raw, "all David, all the time" aspect. But I love Axium and especially Callout because it's still David in the lead (lead vocals, lead guitar, wrote the songs) but his band did a really good job on those tracks.
What do you all think? It also is why I think David needs a good band with him... not an official band like Daughtry, but a set of muscians that record and go on the road with him. The same team with him-but he can still be billed as a solo act, like Billy Joel or Bruce Springsteen, even though they had a repertoire band with them in the studio and in concert.
