Full Version: Kinda pathetic, but I just wanted to get it out there
David Cook > David Cook > All About David Cook
Sell
So, this is a little awkward. I don't really like to talk about it, but like the subject says, I wated to get it out there.

See, I've been self injuring for 5 years. In the past two or three months, though, I haven't. Thats because every time I want to, I listen to all the David Cook music I have on my mp3 player (Analog Heart, so stuff from Idol, and a lot of Axium) over and over until the wanting passes. No other music has ever helped me as much as his has, and I feel like he's helping me get on with my life, you know?

I hold him personally responsible for helping me beat this thing, after so long. I just wanted to let you guys know that thats why I love David Cook so much. He's sort of saving my life, a little bit.

I am so happy that you found something that gives you a different release. I think Cookie has helped us all in some way or another.

And, don't feel bad sharing. We are all friends here. Almost like a family. I love all my fangirls biggrin.gif

And if you ever need someone to talk to, I have an ear to listen.

Glad to hear that Sell!

I'm glad you felt you could share that with us. I know David's music is a better stress release for me than eating the junk food I normally do, and I'm down 15 pounds since January! I'm so happy that his music is helping you out too! smile.gif

P.S. Check out the Metaphysical Thread on here...it might be of some help too!

i just wanted to tell you that i am so glad that you found something that has helped to get you away from those habits! i would never want anything bad to happen to any of the people on this board because i've grown so close to everyone i feel like you guys have become my second family. just know that we are all always here if you ever need someone to talk to about anything, regardless of whatever it may be, my door (well my pm message box that is wink.gif ) is always open that's for sure! i honesty have to admit that i have a bit of a past with depression and such so i can understand where you are coming from and i'm so glad that david's been able to help ease you out of this!

Wow, that is great news. I'm very happy for you and it is really brave to share yourself like this. you should be proudl I think all of us who are David Cook fans have benefited in some way from this wonderful man. Your story is more dramatic than mine but I have been inspired by him too. I want to take piano lessons again. Something I have been talking about doing for many years. Oh and I started exercising again too. It's much more fun to jump on the treadmill while listening to his songs on my iPOD.

Wow. That is fantastic. His music does great things. I swear I think he must have magical powers or subliminal messages in his music!

Congratulations, I can only imagine how hard that is to beat, and you are doing great. Keep it up!

i can relate. i have suffered from a chronic pain/muscle problem for years. and david's music and voice makes me feel better on bad days (and there is not much that does that!). also, it has given me something to be excited about. because of my illness, i have not had much to get excited over in years. so glad it has helped you too.
DO YOU THINK HE REALLY KNOWS HOW HE HAS AFFECTED AND INSPIRED US ALL? He may never really know...

that's wonderful news! I am so glad that Cookie is helping you in a great way! *HUGS*

I'm proud of you for having the courage to share that on this message board. There is something about him that has really helped a lot of people, myself included. I hope you feel like you have friends here. You know you can come here and share any time.

It isn't pathetic, not at all. I hope you don't think that.

I'm happy for you that you have found a way to release all that, even if its only for a while.
I wish you nothing but the best, and for coming on this forum and announcing publically about what you've been going through takes a lot of courage, you're definetly a courageous person.

I hope David or a family member sees this, its always amazing to tell someone such as david that they have helped you in some way rather it be what you've gone through or anything else.... I'm glad you got to experience that.

I hope everything continues to go well for you!!

Wonderful.

You are VERY strong for sharing this.

As others have said, we are here for you, we are like family all of us…its kinda crazy but ultra mega comforting at the same time.

This is what music is for, this is what music needs to be, and now that we have this man to give us this connection and share this with us, we will ALL be better for it.

This is only the beginning Sell, think of all the wonderful things in store for you now that you have taken the first step.

I don’t even know you but I’m so proud of you!

I think you're awesome for sharing something so personal with us all, I can't imagine how much courage it must have take to open your heart to us. Well done, my friend. When you just need a chat or words of encouragement please don't hesitate, you know where to find us.
WordNerdATL
I also admire your courage to share your story. You might not realize it, but you're helping others by bringing this up and sharing it because no doubt there are many other people out there that are going through a similar situation. Kudos to you and your progress the last few months!

i think that's fabulous that you've found an outlet to begin healing. i don't think it's pathetic at all. i'm glad you're on your way to becoming well!

I am very happy for you, Sell.

I think David Cook-- the man and the music-- has inspired all of us in many ways.

Personally, I am following his example and trying to be a more compassionate and giving person .

He has also helped my diet--since I don't eat as much junk food as I did before...mainly because I am spending so much time on this website and others and listening to his awesome music-

I find his music has the power to both comfort and energize me.

Hopefully, he will be there for many, many years to continue to inspire us all!!

THANK YOU DAVID COOK FOR YOUR MUSIC AND INSPIRATION!!
