I have a question about ringtones. There are some out there that say they are free. Then when you go to the terms it says a certain amount each month. Does that actually mean that you get the ringtone free but they are have to pay that each month?

CookieHoney
That's exactly it. You'll get the ringtone free, on the condition that you subscribe to some sort of 3rd party mobile service for a monthly charge.

That's why I prefer to make my own ringtones for free. My current ringtone is actually a video clip from David's "Always Be My Baby" performance. If you have the MP3's, videos, and know-how, you can make your own ringtones without any extra expenses.

Thank you so much for answering me. I was getting worried cause nobody was responding. I went to ToneBee.com where you can do your own. Is that the one you used???

Thank you!!! I'm still trying to get the hang of this forum. I'm not all that sure that it is user friendly. smile.gif

I too use myxertones too...it's awesome...you can edit your ringtones and set them to play at your favorite part of the song! I have a lot of David Cook ringers now...and the only thing you pay for is whatever fee your phone service provider charges you to download stuff!

I did it!!!! I used myxertones. The song "All I Really Need Is You" plays when it rings. Thank you guys!!! How do you edit to play the part you want to hear? And if you add more songs, do you select them for when different people call?
amers19982
First you have to download the songs on to your computer...then you create a free account on myxertones and upload the song. Then it gives you the option to edit the song. It will make suggestions for you but you can move the bars to make your own "clips" of the song. Once you edit the song it saves it into your free account then you download it on your phone. I have like six or seven David Cook ringers on my phone and I set them as personal tones for people...one song rings as my text messages and a different one rings for my calls with no caller id and another rings for my husband and so on...it's the coolest thing ever!

Thank you again so much. I'm charging my phone now. When I get done, I'll try it. Can I email you if I have questions?

Thanks for this info about the ringtones!! I've wanted one of DC but didn't want to start a subscription.
amers19982
Sure...anyone is welcome to PM me anytime about anything! I will be on here on and off so if I don't respond right away be paitent...I always respond to emails and messages and stuff!

One word of advice...it will take a minute or two to "upload" the song from your computer to the site...so try to be paitent...and sometimes depending on your internet connection and stuff it will appear to be uploaded and when you go to edit and play the clips throughout the song it wont play so you have to start over and upload it again...sometimes it gets frustrating but keep trying...that's what I had to do and it eventually worked. I will log in and share all the ringtones I made...all of mine are from Analog Heart so when you go back on the site you will should see them shared by me...amers19982!

Actually, as far as ringtones go, I don't use any on-line services, except to obtain the source material. I use programs that I have on my computer already to edit/trim the clips, then I upload them to my phone using Bluetooth. No data transfer charges of any kind. smile.gif

I got TOML from T-Mobile for $2.49 I followed links for the free one's but it sounded deceptive once I got there. So I will just stick with the one from my carrier. I wish they had more of a selection of his songs but am happy just to even have this one

You and me both!!!! I have been searching it seems like forever on free ringtones but then when you get down to the fine print....you do end up paying. You are quite welcome on starting this topic. I hope it helps both of us. smile.gif

You guys are awesome!!! I'm kind of confused about the blue tooth thing and all but I hope eventually I can figure it out.
I HAVE to have his ringtones. I am 60 years old, and totally obsessed with him. I don't know how you guys do the picture thing on the top left side either. I do wish that when you are using the forum you didn't have to scroll all the way down to get them. I'm lazy I guess.
I've ordered some things from Ebay on David Cook! He drives me crazy and I told my hubby and my friends that if he is a bright spot in my life, I'm taking it!!!

I know what you mean! I've done so much reading and research and it is deceptive. I hate it! I just know I have to have his voice on mhy frickin phone!!! smile.gif

Ok...here comes Tylerlady with another stupid question: I have downloaded his songs from ITunes. Will I be able to use those to download other DC songs? (I told you it was a stupid question)
TaylorSue
Tylerlady, please don't think your questions are stupid. I have had questions about ringtones forever and I still use the one that came on my phone because I haven't figured out how to do it yet. I think I'll go try again. If you have a question, somebody else probably has the same question.

About Bluetooth... it is extremely easy to learn. It does require the purchase of an interface device (about $30-40 at Best Buy or somewhere like that), but once you get it all synch'ed up with your phone, you'll be Bluetoothing stuff like there's no tomorrow!

If by the picture on the top left side, you mean the little pics that we have (mostly of David) where you have your smiley face? What you need to do for that is to fix that in your controls (scroll up to where it says "My Controls"). On the left side, you should see something labeled "Edit Avatar Settings." After you click on that, you'll be given the option to use your own image avatar. You can get it from somewhere else on the 'net or make your own with something like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. After you make your selection/upload your picture, click on "Update Avatar," and you'll have a nice pic of David where that smiley face should be! smile.gif

No question is ever too stupid! If you're wondering about downloading his pre-AI material, I don't think it'll be on iTunes. Anything that David releases from here on out will more than likely be on iTunes when it comes out.

I make my own ringtones from MP3 files. I use Audacity installed on my PC to edit - clip the part I want as my ringtone. My provider is Verizon and I think they try to make it as difficult as possible for you to put your own ringtones on your phone. I ended up checking out the wireless forums for assistence - I like HowardForums. You can find help via provider and via phone hardware.

My sister has Verizon, and she will agree with you that Verizon fights tooth and nail against people putting their own ringtones on their phones. When she upgraded her phone not too long ago, she had to re-buy all the content she had gotten for it. Needless to say, she was PISSED.

AT&T and T-Mobile seem to be the most lenient when it comes to user-created content.

Hey I did it! I did it! Thanks to you. On my profile, it says. Starting to like Cookies". I don't know how that got there. Do you?
CookieHoney
You'e welcome, and thank you! Love your new avatar, by the way. smile.gif

The "Starting To Like Cookies" thing is your title. It's just a cute little reference to how many posts you've made. You will be "Starting To Like Cookies" until you reach 50 posts, then you'll be "Been Cooki'fied." Apparently when you reach 200 posts, you'll actually get to go into your controls and enter a title of your own.

I have Verizon too.
I was thinking of trying this (probably using the instructions in post #8) in a week when my vacation begins.
It sounds complicated but worth a try.
Do you think that will work with Verizon?

I don't know why not. I used the Myertones web site that another poster gave me and it worked fine.
