David Cook > The Other Stuff > American Idol (General)

I'm just wondering if it was announced yet...and who announced it. I don't think Ryan said anything about it last night.

Isn't it Mariah Carey night? or is that the week AFTER?? I don't think Ryan mentioned it last night, I am checking now..

Since next week is IGB, I figure it's "inspirational" songs like it was last year.

Any song suggestion ideas?

If that's what they did last year, then I guess it makes sense they'd do inspirational in the same week.

I wouldn't be able to guess a song, I'm not sure where he gets his inspiration. (And saying he gets it from music is pretty vague if we're going to pick a song haha)

First off...I have this horrendous, HORRENDOUS fear that KLC will sing...wait for it...Amazing Grace. AGAIN.

I would actually love for the great DC to rock it up a little to really differentiate himself from the obvious slow songs that will clog up the night (although, if U2 decides to be especially charitable and "Walk On" is possible, either him or Michael Johns MUST SING IT). I read on TWOP the suggestion of him singing "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" by Elvis Costello and I think this is a fabulous choice!

Edited to add: Castro loves Ray LaMontagne, and he has a great song called "Shelter' (Kelly Clarkson has covered this and it was sublime) that would be perfect for Jason.

YES!!! That would be such a good choice for either of them! Bono seems to like the idea of IGB, so maybe he's be willing to let them sing it.

And if Kristy sings Amazing Grace, I don't think it will save her. ...ironically...

Personally if U2 songs are able to be used... I vote for Pride (In The Name Of Love). Although that might be a better choice for Michael than David.... not that David wouldn't rock it out too.

Michael would kill on that song. I'd love to hear him sing ANY U2...the possibilities are endless.
Oh Bono...be kind!

Someone on the Idol boards mentioned "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback for our rocker. I tend to agree. Not just because I am a huge Nickelback fan (though I am), but because I think David could really do a good acoustic-ish version of the song. I truly love that song, and his modern choice of song would stand out among the more obvious options for the theme.

But that's assuming it gets cleared. I wouldn't blame them for hesitating, what with the...uh...'unique' performance by Constantine a few years back. mellow.gif

(Just my opinion, of course. David could sing the phone book and I'd be hopping on the phone to vote.)

This is the first time I've even kept up with AI so I'm clueless. I hate to even say it but I've been thinking he had to sing a Mariah Carey song when they mentioned her name. blink.gif Its probably been announced on the show even this season. I think I'm blinded....just watching DC I mean.

I'd be hopping on the phone too! Especially since, my last name begins with De, he might sing my name, which I'd pretty much explode and shoot into space and explode again into a million shooting stars all hovering over him...

...wow, thinking about that, that's really a pretty scenario! happy.gif

Ooooo...pretty stars....

It'd be a loooooong episode if he kept it up until the Ro's. He'd go right up to Zachary Robinson, then Ryan would announce "You'll have to wait to hear the rest until next week!" And I would then commence to throw a pillow - or computer - at the television screen.
