David Cook > David Cook > All About David Cook
-*TheCookieMonster*-
so i was sitting at dinner tonight with my bff and some of our other friends for her birthday. i had my cell phone just randomly sitting on the table and all of the sudden i see one of our friends snatch it and look at it (of course my background is of david)...anyhoo, my friend announced to the whole table that i had david cook everywhere and that i was completely obsessed. they all started laughing at me and looking at me like i was completely crazy and the various "i can't believe you are that obsessed with a guy thats on tv blah blah blah" comments started flying from everywhere. all in all i've chalked it up to them not understanding the amazingness that is cookie!

Which is why you have US! tongue.gif

Some people...just don't 'get it'! When he is LEGEND they will regret it though! Then they'll all be saying "Oh, I've always loved him!" hahaha

lindzluffsacookie
Lol. I send out mass texts and pictures of him to my friends telling them they can't resist him!
So don't worry! Embrace your addiction! Shout it out to the world! lol
It's a wonderful thing!
CanadianCookie
I don't understand why people can't feel the same about DC like we do!
We are here for you!!! I wouldn't let it bother you. I never do because I know I have true DC friends on here to vent with!

lol...i dont understand it either..i can barely look at the man without falling to pieces, you would think he have a fraction of that on others too...oh well, i dont let it bother me. i've basically decided that on this subject, they are all just being idiots (i still love em tho! tongue.gif )

yet again...i love these boards...i love my dc friends!
lizajd
I haven't been totally caught yet with how much I obsess over DC, but my husband is kind of getting how into him I am. Last night I told him David Cook would be performing, and I told him how much I like his singing. My husband said, "Yeah, plus he's a cutiepie, huh?" I just kind of giggled smile.gif. Oh if he only knew! I just can't help myself!
Cookieschick
thank god fro fellow cookie addicts or no one would understand me either!
WordNerdATL
Oh, they may be laughing now but just wait 'til Cookie approaches world domination. Then they'll admire you for being on the leading edge of the craze. I predict they will succomb to his irresistable charm very soon. tongue.gif
dcfanmc
I'm lucky that my son, who's nine, gets the talent...while my sister-in-law gets the talent, the sexiness, the whole package.

Don't worry, we're the intelligent ones who got it right away...it'll just take the others a while to catch up to US!!! biggrin.gif

you're not alone.. i also had DC everywhere! my laptop, phone, ipod, car, etc.. etc..

i believe that we are all entitled to our own happiness and if they dont understand this addiction that we are all into of David then, its not our problem.. who cares.. we love DC no matter what..

;)

Poo poo on them. I haven't "come out" to my friends either. Well, except my best friend and my mom. But I don't think THEY even know how obsessed I really am. That's why I'm so glad I found this board, because you girls are the only ones who do understand exactly what I am feeling! And you don't think I'm stupid, even though I am 40, married, and have 4 kids! My crush seems perfectly normal in these surroundings!

Sorry you got outed...hold your head up high. If they sat and watched him enough times and watched interviews and listened to him on the iPod, they would be melting too. tongue.gif
aimz
well, they're just silly!
Rheanne
My friends don't get my obsession either that's why I love it here. All of us here are crazy for Cook!
AussieCookieChick
I havent been 'outed' yet ... then again, I'm pretty sheltered here in Perth but I am selecting which of my friends are ready to be exposed to our man Cookie ... my family on the other hand just shakes their heads when they see me sitting at my laptop on this forum, or that I have photos around my desk at home and work, or that I listen to David every second I have my iPod in my ears

But my reasoning is that David is the man, he is the legend and he makes me happy ... and if I'm happy, no one can stop me! Be strong and dont worry what those 'non Word Nerds' think ... they dont have a grasp of how damn legendary David is! laugh.gif
rokchik01
At least we have each other, huh! NOBODY I know gets this. In fact there is one guy at work who has an actual strong aversion to DC and cannot stand the fact that he's my background! But I love this place and you all are a constant source of companionship and entertainment...so THANKS, by the way.

You know, I've mentioned before that I have only been this way about one other person...Jon Bon Jovi. He had me from the very beginning and those around me thought he'd go the way of all the other 80's hair bands. How wrong they were! I've felt very vindicated by his success and versatility. And now we have another one on our hands! And once again...we'll all be proven right in the long run!

Here are some tips that might prove useful: Just tell people that David's career progress has become sort of a hobby for you. Never use the word obsession! Explain to the ignorant that you really believe--as Paula stated early in the competition--that David is going to become a "great, shining star," and you enjoy watching it happen before your eyes. Downplay the sex attraction angle. Talk about how gifted a musician he is and how you truly believe he has already become a force to be reckoned with in pop music. Mention all the chart records he has broken, etc. It's all true after all, so you won't be lying. Maybe that way your keen interest in David will seem more wholesome to those around you. It's worth a try!
DavidCookieFan15
Well I am trying badly to get my mother to see how amazing David Cook is and she is starting to understand a little bit. I had her listen to all of his performances and she liked Billie Jean the best and when we were at the store I saw a magazine that had David Cook in it and she said "Does it have him in it? Alright you can get it" lol It was very funny. My brother and father have yet to experience the amazingness that is David cook though.
Jessie Ann
DOn't get affected about what they're saying about your obsession on DC... It's just minding their own businesses and all that. At least, you don't miss the real thing now.

BioGuy I love you ideas! I may have to use them at work! Until I completely convert the women around me, anyways! biggrin.gif

In the meantime...I'll just have to wear them down with my....hobby! wink.gif

So sorry to hear that you were outed! However, it is their loss!! They don't know what they're missing and that just means more cookie for all of us.

My family thinks I have gone over the edge about DC, so I am thankful to be here and to be understood!
~Heather~
Yeah, my friends and family don't understand it either. I think they are plotting to put me in the nut house. My best friend just doesn't get it. And refuses to budge. I have tried, and failed miserably. So, I just gave up and just don't talk to her about it at all. Which makes our conversations none existent.
DavidCookieFan15
My family doesn't get it either. Their unseeing eyes have yet to witness the magic of David cook

Isn't that the truth? It's definitely put a strain on normal conversation! I just want to say to them..."Don't you have anything as interesting as David Cook to talk about???" biggrin.gif
DavidCookieFan15
LOL thats what most of my conversations revolve around so I think my family just ignores me when I talk... biggrin.gif oh well and mostly when I crank the volume up in my room on my stereo when I listen to Time Of My Life, they tell me turn it down.. so sad

Yeah, it's sad, she actually started a conversation the other day with "So what have you been doing besides satisfying your love affair with David Cook" I just laughed and played it off, and I think I talked about a random video I saw on youtube, that *gasp* didn't involve DC.
DavidCookieFan15
LOL OH NO! biggrin.gif
-*TheCookieMonster*-
i think im going to embrace the hobby not obsession description for my love of david...it sounds much better and maybe my friends won't think im so crazy! lol...i love the fact that at least some people understand me..thank god for this forum!

My son asked me straight out today -- Mom who do you like better, David Cook or Bruce Springsteen?

(Background, for years, most of what they hear in my car stereo is Bruce, occasionally Daughtry or Green Day or a couple of others. Last couple of weeks it's been my homemade DC AI cd or Analog Heart all the time).

So I had to stop and take a deep breath because Bruce has been # 1 for years and years and years, and no matter how much I love Cookie, you gotta stay loyal to #1, right? So how to explain to a 13-year old why all he's been hearing is DC lately wihtout getting into fan-girl stuff, and still make him understand that loyalty is supremely important, but that you can still enjoy something new without betraying #1?

I answered "Bruce Springsteen.... but... when I like someone new I have to play their record over and over so that I can learn the songs... and besides, David Cook reminds me of Bruce and I think he has the potential to be as good as Bruce, we'll see when his album comes out."

He bought it.... (sigh of relief)... now back to People Page 4, thank you very much!

LOL, yep I totally know what you mean. I could talk about him nonstop (funny isn't it, that we want to talk nonstop about someone we don't even personally know?). I try not to overdo it with the Cook talk..even though I totally want to. I wish I had a friend as crazy as I am. I am trying to convert my best friend (who is going to the Idol concert with me), but she's not really budging. She does really like his music, but can't see the huge attraction thing. I almost wish I was her if you know what I mean!

Almost.

DiBo
LOL my family found out during Eleanor Rigby week when i literally started jumping up and down after his performance...i was yelling "THAT WAS AWESOME!! I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM!!! CAN I MARRY HIM?? SO WHAT IF I'M 15??? I WANT HIM!!!" yeah so i kinda made it obvious...during the whole ai show. lol i only watched the show because of him and my WHOLE family knew that. My family so does not understand the power that david cook has over me!! lol strangely i talk to my DAD about my obsession WAY more then my mom. He's just so casual about it and he just lets me talk, talk and talk. lololol...he evens watches Cooks performances on shows if i ask him. He's awesome.

oh btw HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO EVERYONES DADS!!
DavidCookieFan15
LOL my dad said one day that he liked the way that David sings but he doesn't understand my obsession at all... none of my family really does. They just think I am strange..Oh but my aunt that lives away from who watches American Idol understands. When david cook was announced the winner of American Idol and I was sitting in my room bawling my eyes out my aunt called and said "Oh honey I am so glad, it happened and you got what you wanted." It was really cool. My mom said she had been praying for my sake all day that David Cook would win tongue.gif

HAHAHA my mom did the same exact thing for me! she was like, "honey he will win dont worry, it will be okay! Dont cry." she liked hugged me after he won saying, "Well i'm glad for ur sake he won, probably would have died if he lost." lol but i put my dad through torture he cant stand Idol and i made him watch the whole Idol Finale and right when David Cook was announced the winner he was like, "KAY GOOD NIGHT!"
DavidCookieFan15
LOL my parents were asleep so I couldn't crank the volume up but I think they were just glad it was over and my obsession would be over with....But they were sadly mistaken. Its just the beginning. My aunt is the one who even helped me buy tickets to see Idol live and she is coming with me and I am not sure if my mom is going also or my dad..I have an extra ticket and I don't think either one of them want to go... figures tongue.gif

He, he, he, I think my husband felt exactly the same. He actually watched along with me at some point and wasn't effected by my crazy antiques or my naughty input on what David whore or the seductive stares he gave the camera, because he thought after the finals my crazy love will be over and done with, shame, if only he knew ..... Idols created a lovesick David Cook addict. My hubby can't handle it, but that's his problem, no way I'm gonna bid Cookie farewell, guess he will have to live with it or if you can't beat them join them wink.gif , I always say.

Resistance is Futile! The world will someday know the greatness that is Cookie! I think of watching him as watching the birth of a musical legend. Eventually the whole world will know why we are so obsessed. We just happened to recognize true talent when we see/hear one!

BWA HA HA HA! (evil character laugh)

P.S. My hubby is worried.
DavidCookieFan15
Lol I can't wait to rub into my parents face when he is super famous and I can say I was one of the 2000+ word nerds that knew that he would become A HUGEEEEEEEEE rock star. He already is in my book biggrin.gif
