Full Version: TOML Live versus single version
David Cook > David Cook > All About David Cook

I've bought the Itunes single version of Time of my Life...and now I've heard him sing several versions of it live....some with him and a piano and one with him just playing the guitar.......and I've got to say.....

I like the stripped down versions better. I hope/wish that he would record an acoustic version and put it on as a bonus track on his album.

Maybe if we all ask for it....we'll get it?

Whatdya think?

Oh I love both versions a lot. When he performed the song on Jay Leno though he changed that up a little bit and I loved it. YEAH HE SHOULD DO AN ACOUSTIC VERSION!! That would be so awesome biggrin.gif

I love both, but in general I like acoustic stuff better than things with everything else added in. But both are amazing

I love them all! biggrin.gif If there are any acoustic versions, they would probably end up bening bonus tracks. I'd be ok with that as long as I could get them. biggrin.gif

The studio version of Magic Rainbow hasn't really resonated with me yet, but I bought it and listen to it to support David.

LOVE the acoustic versoin he did at the Walmart shareholders' meeting. But I also dearly LOVE the rockin' out version he did at TTSw/JL Thurdsay night.

The one thing about the acoustic version . . . . David does that haunting acoustic stuff *so* well, that all of his songs could be done this way. I love them so, but I think he will always work to keep things varied for us.

As he has noted before, under the advice of the AI vocal coach, he really looked at his choices (in the show) as a set list -- and he said he'd be interested to see how he did. I always thought that's what he was doing -- because he would never do two acoustics or two slower songs in a row or in a week. When he did Baba, when they slowed it down and gave it that David touch, he switched up his other song so that he wouldn't have two slow songs (which is why we got the growling HLTW song - yeah!).

As an artist, David seems extremely aware of song choice, musicality and showing off all of the sides of his dynamic stage performance and that powerful voice!

Couldn't agree more, Blake ... I think he is well aware of what he needs to do and how to keep things interesting, both for himself and for us, his devoted fans.

That being said, I think the acoustic version was really good, but the version he did on Leno was probably my favourite ... the rocked out part at the end was amazing!

I too preferred the accoustic version of Time Of My Life. For one sure thing, it showcased his strong vocals.

Not that I don't like the studio version, cos I do. It's just that the live versions sounded better, especially with the one he did during The Tonight Show. tongue.gif

I liked the acoustic version he did with the piano accompaniment. So pure...
