Okay, not really. But I hadn't seen this yet, and I thought it was cute. Here's an Obama-themed video done to "Dream Big".

FTW!

Does anyone know whether DC is a democrat or republican?
He looks like a democrat to me!

You can identify political affiliation by looks alone? Neat trick. biggrin.gif

One of my many talents! tongue.gif

I have no idea really, but he reminds me of an American friend and he's a very vocal democrat!!

Of course this is COMPLETE AND UTTER idle (or Idol - hehe) speculation, but I'm gonna guess he leans toward the liberal end of the spectrum just based on his unbridled compassion for the suffering of others and the fact that he seems to be such a genuinely loving individual.

(Please please please, fellow Word Nerds, don't flame me with statements about compassion and love not being solely the province of liberals. I know that.)

That being said, I could also make the case that since he's been poor before and is pulling himself up by his bootstraps (as it were), and is now enmeshed in a big corporate machine with all that that entails (bigger paychecks especially), maybe he'll be leaning in the conservative, please-lower-my-taxes direction.

Like our Cookie, I too was on the forensics team in high school and always like to argue both sides of any issue before I come to a conclusion. wink.gif

so now resembling someone else means that you probably have the same political opinions as that person? IMO, Cook's political opinions don't belong on this site unless he actually voices them.

i must admit....im a political nerd as well!

I just thought it was an interesting question. It wouldn't change my opinion of him either way. And i'm not saying that because I have a friend that is liberal then he would too. Just that because of their similar personalities, there was a possibility he could be one too.

Problem is you can argue for any point of view...conservative b/c he's from the midwest...liberal b/c he's an artist...moderate b/c he's cool like that...whatever, they're all stereotypes. the point is he hasn't told you (unless I've missed something) what he thinks about politics, so it's not worth speculating.

Going by what I know of struggling hipster musicians, I would say that Cookie probably leans Democratic or is totally apolitical.

No way is 19 ever going to let him touch this kind of stuff, though. It's a cute video, though, and my ultimate dream is Cookie and Obama together on Jon Stewart.

If i'm honest i'm not political and only vote during General Elections because I feel I should. Like I said earlier i'm not actually bothered and only posed the question because of the title of the thread.

No offense was meant, I'm sure. It's all in good fun, right? The only serious opinions he's offered about anything so far have to do with his passion for music.

But that video in the original post...did anybody else think that was kind of a clever pairing of song and story? No? Ok, just me then. I'm aware that DC had nothing whatsoever to do with the creation of the video. Props for a creative effort though. We just got a little carried away, Annie. Some people like to talk about politics, some people don't.

No harm, no foul?

I love to talk politics and can have a discussion for hours regardless of wether we agree (some of my closest friends are of the exact oposite political affiliation as me). However, it's not right to put words in other peoples mouth like the title of this thread does.

I wasn't implying that David Cook could or should endorse anybody. It's just a cute video. That is all.

Besides, the headline is just a shameless way to get you to view this thread.

Completely unrelated sidebar:

Don't political candidates have to have the permission of the songwriter/publisher to use a song for the campaign? Or is the video homegrown by some random citizen?

As for Cook, if he's doing the NYT crossword, odds are he's perusing the headline stories. While his political affiliation is irrelevant to me, and I would be shocked to see him speak publicly on the election ... I imagine our intelligent Cookie is an engaged citizen and will exercise his right to vote in November, like all us Americans should smile.gif

(Yeah, I know, my location says London, but I'm American living abroad, lol)

Awesome campaign ad! Wish he'd do the endorsement and let it run

politics along with religion and what's left of David's personal life should not be discussed on this board. IMO
